Bungee breaks on Mariner
WannaCruise replied to The Cruise Junkie's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I saw a post on Facebook that it is re-opened today on Independence. -
No charge on Mariner or Symphony. It's a lot of fun, and my DS especially loved it...and your kids are perfect ages. Having said that, $20 seems a lot if its the same game length as the two ships (i.e. game is maybe 10 minutes long)

We sail for the ship over the ports. But for us, the best is when you have a port of call but you decide to stay onboard (e.g. Nassau). That way, it's like a sea day but with less people. The only downside is that there are not quite as many activities going on and things may open a bit later.

No Mother's Day Gift For Me
WannaCruise replied to WannaCruise's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Thanks. Just double checked again on our booking (where a price drop is possible), and OBC is only in the interior and ocean view for our cruises. For our balcony category, no OBC and stayed the same. Glad you were able to get some OBC. -
No Mother's Day Gift For Me

Not such a good present either. ? -
This past December we booked for March Break 2021 and the price has already gone up....so we believe in booking early if we know our dates. Are you booking under USD/CAD ? If the price does drop at all , then you can call in for a price drop. And if it goes up, then you are locked in at the lower price. (I think UK has different rules which is why I asked). But note that you lose any promotions such as OBC with any re-price (and can get new promotions). And as above, you have better selection of your room. You mentioned non-refundable though so you would need to be sure of your ship and date as you would lose $200 pp if any changes. (We always book refundable and then switch over to non-refundable when we book flights if the pirce is less).

Thanks for all the info. I'm actually looking at our cruise date in Orlando and Fun Spot hours and doesn't look like the park is even open on that day (a Tues in March). Good option though for anyone travelling during open hours. I talked with DH and he's actually thinking we do the Outlet and Disney Springs excursion. That way, we can get a Disney fix in. Hopefully our DS won't be too bored but we'll be sure to do something at Disney that is fun and a treat always helps (even though he's 14...lol). The excursion seems to have 3 hrs at the outlet and 2 hrs at Disney Springs. Wish it was the other way around, but at least its transportation through Royal plus better than taking the regular Disney transportation and then having to uber to Disney Springs and back to the Magic Kingdom transportation centre (which is what we were thinking of doing as an option).

Ok...this is just making fun at Royal's pricing, and pointing out how once again, their "sales" are just marketing. We have 5 cruises booked with the next one for this August and furthest out Mar 2021. Yesterday , they added a "Sale" tag that is listed as CELEBRATE MOM BONUS. Oh great...maybe we have a price drop (which really can only be our Dec cruise as all others have gone way up since we booked them). Well, I price checked all of our cruises, and the pricing is the exact same as it was yesterday, and also earlier in the week. So where's the "mom celebration" price? Or maybe it's just telling family members to book a cruise for mom. ? Gotta laugh.

Thanks for the replies. So ICON Orlando would be a fun day? (I know...a subjective question). The Royal excursion costs $98.42/adult and $85.12/child (quoted in CAD). The description mentions the aquarium and the wax museum so it looks like these are both included (plus transportation)? It's hard to tell as the pricing on the website is different ...although they have these plus wheel for $50 USD. We've been to Wax Museum before a few times (NY, Niagara Falls and California), but it's always fun to see. Wish we had more time so we could visit Disney or Universal, but it's too pricey. Royal has transportation as an excursion. I priced out Sea World as well as Royal transportation too but comes out to quite a bit for the day. Disney Springs is an option to get a bit of a Disney fix in...but half of the excursion is visiting the outlet mall. DD, DH and myself would like that, but DS would not be happy spending a day shopping. Having said that, the VR attraction would be right up his alley! Feel like we should visit the Kennedy Space Centre, but TBH, that as well will cost us almost $500 CAD. That's a lot for a day. @Jaymac Radio , thanks for the suggestion for the Fun Spot theme park. It seems like an option too. It looks like it's also about 1hr drive? So uber? Quite torn....so the ICON Orlando seems like an option that might make a nice day. That might be our best bet.

Half day cococay water park pass gone?
WannaCruise replied to Constantino's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
When we booked on Anthem, I don't remember two half day options. If there was, we wouldn't have selected the one that starts at 7:30am. Or maybe I just missed it? All I remember is half day was $77 vs full day at $107 or so. Thought the full day price was quite outrageous so we went with the half day (which I'm glad about as I know our kids will want to spend time in that pool). Wonder what happens to the booked half days. Guess they still need to honor those and then they'll flip to full day if that's the route the are going. -
Half day cococay water park pass gone?
WannaCruise replied to Constantino's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I noticed that too on our Anthem cruise when I wanted to price check our booking. The full day on Anthem is more than $100 CAD pp so hope they are still giving option if half day. Or maybe they only have select few and sells out. -
I wonder about this too. After our booked cruises we'll only be 15 points away from Diamond. So I'm constantly watching JS prices to see if we want to double our points on a cruise. It's just hard when the additional money can be spent on air fare. But as you say, I wonder if they will raise the numbers so by the time we complete our cruises, it will be say 30 points away now instead of 15. You seem to be proactive and have a good plan (aside from liking the extra space ?). PS - love twangster's description and example of numbers above
-
Anyone done this excursion in Orlando? From the description it sounds like a mix of an aquarium with a wax museum . It comments about 40 attractions but not clear on what that is. Would love feedback on the excursion (or on the place itself). Trying to figure out our Orlando day (between space centre, Icon Orlando 360 or Disney Springs)

Website - New Connecting Room Feature
WannaCruise replied to WannaCruise's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I've seen it on Navigator and Anthem. Did you increase the number of stateroom to 2? -
People are usually complaining about the website but they've added a really neat and useful feature. I just went to do a price check on our Anthem cruise where we have 2 virtual balcony rooms booked, and noticed that it now lets you search on connecting rooms. When they have them available, there is a symbol and the rooms come up in twos. I guess it's limited to the same category room, but still very cool !

Ovation Goes North, Way North to Alaska! 11 Nights, May 13, 2019
WannaCruise replied to twangster's topic in Live Blogs
Love your reviews! And what an amazing itinerary and ship looks great. Safe travels. Looking forward to following along. -
Great to hear you had something similar on Grandeur and enjoyed. If it was just the meal, then not sure we'd go for it, but I love the behind the scenes stuff, so that would be neat to see ontop of a nice lunch.
-
Thanks...that makes sense. The difference is the other 4 cruises are with our kids so we wouldn't book a cabana nor do Chef's Table on those so very good options for our Adventure one.
-
That's a lot of wine. After 1 glass , I feel it. (Yeah, I'm a big drinker ?). Sounds like a fun experience though. and definitely considering it. Thanks for explaining...as long as htey have a fish or seafood option, then I'm good. DH eats beef but does have allergy to some tree nuts...so has to be careful. The Gallery Tour sounds great too. I love the behind the scenes stuff (as long as they are not showing us any mice or anything else that shouldn't be around food they are serving...lol). Too bad Adventure doesn't have the full ship tour. Those look neat.
-
This is for Adventure....don't believe Coastal Kitchen is on this ship. But yes...one day...that is my dream. We did "consider" it for our Anthem booking (but stuck with our 2 inerior rooms). I am watching the prices and if it drops by another $500, then maybe. But it's $1000 more than our current booking at the moment which is a lot (esp when we need to fly to port). And that's just the JS, never mind about the other suite rooms. So if we went for a suite, it would be a JS and really just for the points. Curious...For Adventure, even the Grand Suite doesn't mention "concierge services" so it looks like you need to book Owner's Suite or above to get access to the lounge?
-
Do you get much of a tour on the Gallery Lunch? Or is it more about the lunch? Lol...is there a glass of wine with each course? Could be an interesting meal. ? If you were to pick one...which wins?
-
Thank you both for the menus! Both look really good and look like good options. The cabana at Grand Cayman looks great too. Thanks.

Anyone tried the Gallery Lunch?
-
Adventure only has Chops and Giovanni and Izumi so think we'd get tired of them on ultimate but we could do Chops +1
