Wow, ok, so big changes to policy there: your sailing is below the threshold number of days, and vaccinated guests still need to arrive with a test. Also, the tests you procure for your unvaccinated child is essentially rendered meaningless (and unnecessarily costly) if they're doing a PCR test on site before allowing you to board. Also, that better be one of the 15 minute isothermal ones, or families will be waiting for at least an hour or two in the terminal for a result.

Just, ugh. And to think I just made the final payment and checked in for our Nov cruise.

Yup, that second test for the unvaccinated one  seems like it would preclude HAVING to do one 3 days earlier. Seriously.

    Try this
I just called my local pharmacy as they offer Covid testing.
Medicare and Medicaid are covered....for the rest of us he said it is $65 for a rapid test.  Here is the website from their page, it has a place you can enter a zip code to find pharmacies that participate.  https://myrx.io  Perhaps give that a try to see if there is a pharmacy near where you will be.  He said they text you your results and when I asked if it is something they can print for me he said yes (I honestly don't know anything about this service and if it would be printable).
So much can change between now and your sailing date.  I hope this helps!

Just FYI... the option to "Book a COVID-19" test through myrx is only available to NY State residents ?

  3. @MattYeah I mean... that makes sense, but at this point I want to talk to someone at RC to confirm. All four of us on the two reservations/cabins I set up are linked, but we are all fully vaccinated. There is another reservation for two more travelling "with us" (but not linked) which include a 10 year old, so I need to find out if the 10YO can take the test 3 days beforehand, or if his only option is at the terminal (as was originally communicated).

  4. I'm on hold with RC because this is really confusing. I got an email which reads:

    Quote

    Dear Guest,

This is your final reminder to please schedule your boarding day PCR test for COVID-19, conducted by our medical services partner, BioReference Labs. For your safety, all unvaccinated guests ages 2 and older are required to take this test during check-in on boarding day (plus, a debarkation antigen test, which we’ll share more details about once you’re onboard). It's important to register for your boarding day PCR test as soon as possible to avoid delays in your check-in process.

If you're vaccinated, you don't have to complete this registration for yourself. However, you may have received this email because the guest below may need to undergo boarding day testing. Please share this information with them or complete it for them if they are your minor child.

Then below that it has MY name, and a unique reference ID code for me to register to take a PCR at the terminal on boarding day. Thing is, I'm fully vaccinated. So uh... is this required for me or not? There are 3 other folks on two reservations I coordinated, and all 4 of us are fully vaccinated, so I have no idea why this was sent to me, but it's concerning because it indicates I *must* do this on embarkation day. Help?

it was earlier today - I wanted to see what rooms were left.   You are right - it no longer shows !

    edit:

it’s possible I was looking at the wrong date.  So sorry!  Good luck

No worries ? I've been checking daily for a week. "Things may change" but for now, we are "stuck" with the cabins we have. First world problems, eh?

@HtownHolly, I did a mock booking of your cruise date earlier, and it did show balconies available to be booked for 3 adults.   If your TA said you can’t change because final payment has been made, you could cancel with CWC and ask for your funds to be applied to new booking for 3 in a balcony.

I am not a TA, just know that there are balconies for 3 available to book right now.    Perhaps a TA on this site can give advice.

Or - Your TA may also say that since Royal changed your rooms and moved the daughter in a different deck, you want TA to have Royal Resolution  now to consolidate 2 cabins into 1 balcony.   I assume the room moved had you booked in as the adult?  You’d have to cancel the other child from your room first.

There is a way to do it,  sounds like you may have to convince your TA.

Both cabins were moved, from deck 8 (one balcony, one promenade view) to deck 9 (one balcony, one ocean view).

But how did you do a mock booking? It's not open to book. This is 8/15/2021 on Independence out of Galveston. image.thumb.png.19e984bd86198d830941231684ca8dfb.png

  7. So our TA told us that basically there is no way to change rooms now. Mixed in with this whole thing is that one of the rooms we had originally was a promenade view - apparently they aren’t having ANY interior rooms, including PV. So that one got reassigned to an Ocean View and it’s about the worst available (deck 9, all the way forward, port side corner). I had asked to see about changing to another room (even to pay for an upgrade to a balcony). Nope.

So there’s probably zero chance of us winding up in a 3-person room with just my family. Ugh.

  8. I'm on hold with RC now. The situation is this:

    3 cabins booked
My husband & daughter (age 13) in one cabin
Other dad and his son (age 10) in one cabin
Me and other dad's daughter (age 13) in one cabin

We will get our daughter vaccinated. It's the other daughter booked in the room with me (and the 10yo) that are not vaccinated. (while typing this out, they answered) If you're 12+ and not vaccinated, you cannot board. Under 12 will be given a rapid test at the terminal prior to embarkation (at no cost). They did tell me that this is subject to change, and they might update in 30 days -- which is kind of pointless for the 8/15 sailing, but might impact other Indy cruises in like September.

The RC person also confirmed about offering OBC for any increase in onboard purchase due to rebooking from Liberty to Indy (or a refund, if all the OBC isn't used). So that's good.

  9. So we will probably just have our daughter (who will be 13) get vaccinated, but the father of my daughter’s friend (who will be cruising as well) asked me “what if she refuses the shots?”

Told him I don’t know. This is the page on RC’s website:

    https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center/getting-ready-to-cruise?dPort=galveston

We are on the 8/15 Independence sailing, so basically have a week and a half to get started on the Pfizer regimen, in order to be finished 14 days before sail date. Woulda been nice if RC emailed us about this, rather than me finding out by heading over there on a whim. They’ve been very good at communicating that I “owe money” on drink packages paid and purchased from when we were supposed to originally have been on Liberty ?

If you mean 9514 (there does not seem to be a 9415) by the deck plans...been in one of those. If you think the layout is weird...wait until you see the ceiling...angled. About 25% of the floor space is unusable due to the angle of the ceiling...unless you are only 36 inches tall.

Having been in one (won't do it again), my recommendation would be to punt it if you can.

Yup, that's the one I meant. And I saw pix of the sloped ceiling. No thanks!

We were on Liberty in September and were also switched to Independence.  Our room was also switched to a less ideal room for our family of 6.  We eventually sent a message to Michael Bailey on Facebook, and he responded by having someone contact us.  They were able to get us into rooms that worked better for us.  I would keep trying to go higher up if you can't get help getting the room switched.  Hopefully they can make it happen for you easily without having to go higher up in the command chain.  Good luck!

We too were bummed out by the itinerary change, as we went to Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan last time and were looking forward to going to the other places.  However, at this point I just want to get on a ship ?

Good to know! I called RC and they can't do anything about it (plus the 8/15 saling doesn't even come up for them) since I went through a TA so I'll just have to wait and see what the TA can suggest. Did you book directly with RC?

  12. OK so I'm on the 8/15 sailing out of Galveston, which was initially on Liberty, and now switched to Indy. FINALLY got our cabin assignments on Indy today. We had two cabins, and one change I'm 100% fine with (same category, just a couple doors down from the original one), but the other one... not really. It's the one my teen daughter is booked in (and will share with her friend). They were in 8275 - which is a promenade view room halfway between midship and the forward elevators. Got moved into 9415 which is an Ocean View at the very forward port corner of the ship. With the bridge overhanging it. She's not at all happy with this, and I don't blame her. The room is kinda weird shaped, and has far less counter/desk space compared to the interior promenade view (not to mention the nifty little sitting area in the window of the promenade view rooms which has no equivalent in this new room).

I have asked my TA if they can be switched back to the interior PV room. What are the odds of that happening? I mean, I get that it's an upgrade in category, but it's as far from the kids activities as possible (they will have to walk the entire length of the ship each time), and it's not the view they wanted, so it's not really an "improvement" to them.
