  1. I have a friend on our last cruise that swears by hangover pills. She also was good about drinking lots of water.
  2. We were there last week on Navigator; Majesty was there as well (diverted from Cuba.). This is just to give an idea of the amount of passengers the island accommodated. The Thrill waterpark slides are in two clusters. The tall tower has several slides, and a small cluster, also with several slides. We did not have waterpark admission, but were with several people that did. The long wait were for two of the slides specifically; Daredevils Peak (the very tallest one in the tower), and the Slingshot, (the raft family one in the smaller cluster.). Those slides had up to an hour and a half wait. The others did not. The waterpark admission also includes the wave pool if that is something you’d enjoy. We had a cabana around the Oasis Lagoon ($349 for 8 people) and we loved it. Having the towels there, water bottles on ice, and an attendant in addition to the shade, power, and ceiling fan, was worth it. We loved the splash pad, too. That was truly the only cold refreshing water on the island. south Beach is gorgeous. Enjoy your day!
  3. We just stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites Miami Downtown Brickell. (We were on a 4 night Navigator as well) We had a good experience. The included breakfast is fantastic, we had a voucher for a free drink at the bar. Pool, hot tub, lounge, nice lobby. Easy and quick route to the port. We had good city views, although not really water views.
  4. What ship are you on? You said 4-day and Cozumel so I’m assuming you are sailing out of Tampa on Brilliance? If so, it isn’t a gigantic ship, so the crowds won’t be as crazy as you may be imagining. Also, try to dismiss the rare occurrence of of disaster from your head; the things you mention are EXTREMELY uncommon. Like, win-the-lottery, struck-by-lightening uncommon. I know it doesn’t do any good to tell someone suffering with anxiety to relax, so I won’t even go there, but let me assure you that there will be PLENTY of places for you to relax, almost by yourself if you’d like. Except for sea days right around the pool, there are often quiet open spots on upper decks. Find a bench or seat, take a book if you’d like, time can go by without you realizing it because you are so relaxed. Turn your chair to the sea and watch the water go by. Seriously, there is nothing more relaxing and you will forget there are people there. I can also say with experience that your self-consciousness, while understandable, is unnecessary. I can’t even explain how much your fellow passengers couldn’t care less about what you look like at the pool. They don’t notice you, and they don’t care. Let yourself go, have a great time. The game shows take about 30-45 minutes. Almost NOTHING on a cruise takes an hour or more. They are intentionally scheduling things so they are quick and move on to the next. I encourage you to do them; they are lots of fun. If you are on a ship with an X vs. Y game and a Crazy Quest, you may want to avoid them because your anxiety may be overwhelming. They are a ton of hilarious fun, but they are often frantic and very adult. The pace and craziness might be too much for you to enjoy. If you’d like more detail, feel free to message me and I’d be happy to go into more explanation. Please let yourself enjoy your trip!
  5. So, here’s the thing. As others have said, it’s not ALL the slides that have the wait. The tower has a few slides that stem from it, but it’s only the tallest, largest one with the long wait. (And yes, last week when there on Navigator, it was an 1 1/2-2 hour wait for that one by noon.). Also, the Slingshot slide in the smaller cluster had a very long wait. However, there are several other slides available with little to no wait. You also have access to the wave pool and the water obstacle course. I don’t believe you mentioned which ship you will be on, but you may want to also take into consideration water slides on your ship when doing the cost-benefit analysis of Thrill Waterpark tix. An important note about crowds on the island: the cancellation of Cuba as a destination has changed itineraries of Majesty and Empress. Royal seems to have replaced Cuba with CoCoCay. You may not have originally had another ship scheduled to be docked at the same time, but it is very possible one of the Cuba ships will be there. (As of Saturday, June 22, Navigator was the only ship scheduled to dock there on Wednesday, but lo and behold, Majesty was there when we arrived. Oh, and many of the passengers on Majesty were NOT happy about it.). Anyway, just be prepared to have more people than you may expect. Regardless of your decision, the island is beautiful and there is a lot to do. I encourage you, even adults, to step onto the splash pad and get doused by the buckets, spray with water cannons, and sprinkled with water spouts. It’s cool water and just plain silly fun. The Oasis Lagoon is too warm to be refreshing. Have a great time!
  6. Saw him last week on Navigator; it had been a bit of a quest for me to find him and I did twice. My daughter actually ran into him first and I was honestly a little jealous. Later, I could hear him as we were walking to dinner, and found him in the alcove entrance to Adventure Ocean. Once again, we saw him on an elevator. He had a great personality. I have pics, but can’t figure out how to successfully attach them!
  7. You came to see our kids dance! Thank you so much for watching. My daughter is in the last pic you have of the dancers (the aqua) and another as well. All of the kids were in two dances. Oh, I’m so happy you came!
  8. See that starboard side cabana? The yellow one with the aqua roof? (Actually on the left side of the photo). Well, that shadow of a head is my husband!
  9. We are on a 4-night (Monday-Friday) Perfect Day cruise on Navigator next week. We are driving and planning to park at the structure at the terminal. We’ll be parked from about 11:00am Monday thru 7:00am Friday. Are we paying for 5 days or 4 days?
  10. Thanks! That’s good advice. We had our kick-off party/banquet tonight. We have matching shirts; bright Caribbean blue with green and white logo on it. We should all be wearing them as we board. Say Hi! We are a friendly and fun group. I promise you won’t be disappointed if you watch our kids. ?????? See you in a week.
  11. Hello!! We will be on the cruise as well and we cannot wait to get away from what has been the wettest, dreariest spring in Michigan that I can ever remember. My husband and I are teachers, too. We will be on this cruise with 186 others in our group! Yep, you read that right. We have our 13-year-old daughter and 39 dancers with us that will be performing on the ship in the Main Theatre. We’d love it if you’d take a few minutes of your sea day to come watch our kids. Anyway, I’m looking forward to your trip report, too. See you in a week! ???
  12. In some videos and photos, I notice there is a shower area on the island. This is going to sound strange, but just how “showery” are they? I know they are for rinsing sand and chlorine off of you after swimming, etc, but is it just one room with a bunch of showerheads? Is is a bunch of stalls with curtains or dividers? Could you bring a travel shampoo and actually wash the sand/chemicals out? Thanks!
  13. Hey all! I received a $100 Royal Caribbean credit as a gift from someone. They purchased it through Royal, and I received an email as notification of the gift. Has anyone received this? Can I just add it to “my account” to use as onboard credit somehow? Or must I use it ahead of time? Anyone have experience with this?
  14. Ugh....I don’t like to do that either. THANKS EVERYBODY!
  15. Hi all! I’m hoping someone can answer a quick question for me. Sailing on Navigator in June. I’m interested in the Delixe Drink Package with VOOM for one device. In the Cruise Planner, there is conflicting info on whether or not both adults in my cabin will have to buy the combo package. I know if one of us has the Drink Package we both do, but we are only looking to have one Deluxe and VOOM combo, and one Delixe Drinks. (We don’t need two VOOMs,). Do we BOTH have to have the combo? THANKS!
  16. We are on that sailing as well with a large group! My daughter is dancing on the ship. We can’t wait (especially since the last few weeks have been so brutal weather-wise. We are in Michigan.)
  17. Can anyone tell me what the main theatre shows are on the Mariner 4-night Bahama cruise out of Miami is right now?
  18. Thank you! This is EXACTLY what 8 was looking for!
  19. Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I’ve seen the menus tab, but those all seem to be for the specialty restaurants, unless I’m missing something. ?. I’m looking to see what our choices will be while we are in the MAin Dining Room.
  20. Hi all! I have been actively reading all of the Cruise Compasses and know that the dinners in the MDR have themes. I’m really curious about what is actually on the menu for those dinners, and even an idea of what is available to breakfast and/or lunch in the MDR interests me. Does anyone have photos they’ve taken of the menus? Or some great recollection and is willing to give me some info? Thanks!
