  1. Hi all,

We are doing the chefs table on adventure in august, which is located in the mdr. My question is clothing...do people dress like formal night for chefs table, or am i good in just a nice dressy sundress (ie smart casual, dressy but not formal!)? Is it a sportcoat night for my husband (he's not taking a suit), or dress shirt and tie, or polo? I know formal night has turned into an anything goes, but wondered the usual level of dress at chefs table. Trying to figure out packing! Thanks for any comments, Jane

  2. The teen area for my 12 and them 13 year old on even little vision and then freedom were great and are often posted on internet pics. She really enjoyed meeting people there the first night and them popping in and out. I agree with the earlier post...the 18 to 20 offerings were pretty lame for my daughter. It is a tough age to cruise (though she loved it!) Jane

  3. Hey Jane. What ports are you going to? What are you doing in San Juan?

With regard to the Adventure, I love that ship. Perfect size and a great layout. Yeah it's showing its age a little, but it's still great. I hope you both have a great time.

I can't wait. I loved freedom and hoping i will like adventure. Our itinerary is, a little different from the norm...we are doing st thomas (going to st johns and trunk bay) and st kitts (debated on the train but decided it was just too expensive, so we will wander a bit and then just go back to the ship), aruba (beach day! ) and curacao (walking the historic downtown). We have 2 sea days since only 4 ports, which I'm very happy about! In san juan, we arrive at 330 on thursday, so will prob have some pool beach time, spend all next day in old san juan (we have never been to san juan) and them get to the boat early on saturday. So hoping my husband actually likes cruising! Jane

  4. Our family of 5 and extended family of 10 just sailed on the Adventure a week ago. San Juan is great as always. St. Martin is showing some wear. Curacao and Bonaire were ok. Aruba was great as always. The ship needs its upcoming refurb... but it's still a great ship with a great layout. The thing that sets it apart is the value. $1480 pp. 5 cabins (3 balcony), all taxes, tips, air from Chicago and 1 night at the Sheraton Old San Juan. Yeah it's a longer flight than Florida, but we didn't mind.

We were on the ship last year. We went to St. Croix. What an awesome place.

As someone mentioned, lots of people from Puerto Rico on the ship.

Thank you for the good review. Im talking my husband on his first cruise in august and while id love to be going after the drydock, this worked out for us. Jane

  5. We stayed at la quinta in cocoa beach and if you are there for any length of time, it is wonderful...right on the beach near the pier. We used cocoa beach shuttle from the orlando airport and then to the port. They were friendly, prompt and i whole heartedly recommend them. When my 13 year old left her brand new jacket on the van, the driver brought it the next day before we left. Jane

  6. My teen (12 and 13 for her two cruises) had a great time on royal. We haven't done carnival so i can't compare. She made friendsv the first night at the term centre and them they did stuff together the entire trip. On freedom, they did have some classes, but i found mostly she shipped, wandered the ship, swam and judy enjoyed not being around us! She was never bored! Jane

  7. 1 on both my cruises, but not only is luggage later, but it can come at totally different times. Last cruise i trotted using the zip tie locks on my suitcases, which was awesome...except that the suitcase with the scissors in the outside pocket didn't come until like 3 hours after the other ones! You should have seen us trying to get them open to unpack lol!

  8. I was on my 2nd cruise (first on freedom) in march. My kids and i loved it. I didn't think i would love the promenade as much as i did. The pool deck was always crowded, but if you got up early or went late, there was always a seat. I felt my restaurant service wasnt quite as good as on vision, but the bar service was great, esp. on the pool deck. The windjammer was packed in the am, but we could always find a seat and one morning our dinner waiter helped us. My teen loved the teen club, my almost 20 year old loved the balcony. The ship was clean and well maintained. I was afraid it world be too big, but it felt very manageable to get places. You will love it! If you need any more info, you will find it here in the blog! Jane
