  1. He was a natural on it. Told him it was the big belly that gave him such balance, even got to his knees. Unfortunately didn’t make the height requirement for surfing because I think he would have mastered that too.
  2. Sorry don’t know how to flip it but here is my grandson on Mariners flowrider
  3. The chaperones appeared to be mid-twenty something males. The whole thing was bizarre to me. Never in a million years would I have let my daughter go on such a trip. But SA culture is very different. My 10 year old grandson got quite an eyeful!
  4. Just shows how different peoples upbringings can be. PLEASE don’t misunderstand, I am not in any way criticizing here. We grew up in a 5 room apartment. My brother and I slept in the same room til he went to college and even though we moved into my grandmothers house with more bedrooms later, when he came home for a visit he still slept in my room so we could talk all night, didn’t even think about the fact he could sleep in another room now. vacationing with our kids, it would never even have occurred to me to get 2 room. The room slept 4 and that’s how many we were. Our last family trip, daughter was 24 and son was 19, still one room. Yes I am “frugal” but it truly never occurred to me! Taking them both on my retirement celebration cruise in Feb and, you guessed it, one room! Ok it’s an OS but still just one room. Looking back, maybe that extra bathroom would have been nice. Hope you have a great cruise!!
  5. Stop!!!! I’ve been closing my eyes & plugging my ears when you all talk about the larger ships. So far we have happily stayed small (Majesty, Mariner, Rhapsody in Feb). How am I supposed to do that when you show me pictures like that?!?!!
  6. Bunch of South American 15 year olds on our last cruise. That mask is WAAAY bigger than the bottoms they wore??.
  7. Took our grandson on a 4 day in February. Spent the whole trip in pool hot tub, flow rider. No interest in Adventure Ocean although I think he might have met a buddy or two. On Coco Cay, never left the wave pool. It was very short, too short for us. It took a little time for him to be comfortable and then it was over.
  8. Oh I have a concierge??!!! Didn’t have one on Majesty. I feel so special!
  9. Hmm never thought about a rollaway. Would one fit/be available if I asked early and nicely for our OS on Rhapsody? Sleeping arrangements aren’t really an issue as we have always stayed in one hotel room with our kids. Son sleeps with the snore king he calls dad & daughter shares with me. But the extra cot would be a nice option. Guess I’m emailing my TA!!
  10. First cruise in 2002 was us and the two kids in an oceanview cabin on Empress. Our reintroduction to cruising in 2018 was in a GS on Majesty. Earlier this year we did a quick 4 day with our grandson on Mariner & said yeah a balcony stateroom will be fine. Well NO! Both hubby & I said never again. We are already suite snobs. Happens fast ?
  11. This is how I feel about hubby’s service. He tells me it was clear early on that he was not cut out for the military and, due no doubt to a little too much partying on his off days in Sicily, he received a General Discharge under Honorable Conditions. But he DID SERVE and I am proud of him for it.
  12. Can’t imagine an easier airport than Bradley. I can go from drop off to gate in less than 15 minutes and that includes checking a bag. No way that can be done at Logan! Not to mention actually getting to Logan. TF Green might be as easy but LOGAN??
  13. Thanks, that’s the first I’ve seen that lists the necessary documentation. We’ve ordered his DD214 AND his DD215 which corrected the original to add Honorable Conditions. I’ll just put them with our passports. Edited to add it says 2 years service OR six months in a war zone. Does not say combat service is a requirement correct?
  14. Go to the State Department website. They address the issue as you are not the first to have it.
  15. I would think the most used airport to fly into CT would be Bradley International. Not really sure why 50% of travelers would fly into Rhode Island when Bradley is much more centrally located and actually in CT?
  16. Not HAD but HAS. This Executive Order has not been lifted as yet. Flights from the 3 afffected states are met by Gov personnel with forms to fill out stating where they will quarantine. I realize contact after that may be spotty (or non-existant) but it is still in place.
  17. Since I booked our Feb 7n Rhapsody out of Tampa about 6 weeks ago, the UBP has gone on sail 3 times. $61 off sale, $46 on sale. I am disinclined to hand over more cash at this point given all the uncertainty surrounding cruising and the mess refunds are at present. I will wait and watch.
  18. So I’ve heard here! And I bet if I made a stink, they’d take what I have. I’m just trying to not be THAT passenger.
  19. But just to be save he’s made a written request for a copy of his DD214. I can’t find it anywhere
  20. So I have a certified copy of his service record. Shows enlistment date, dates of all schools and posting in Sicily and his discharge. Certainly plenty of information to cover the 4 years of service in the US Navy. Don’t know why that wouldn’t be enough ?
  21. And if I get quaratined on the ship, we're in an Owners Suite!!
  22. I have an email in to RCCL to ask this very question. The information I have gotten so far shows the criteria that needs to be met but not what they accept as proof.
  23. Doesn’t say what is needed for proof. I have Roger’s service record and Certificate of discharge.
  24. Thank you Danette for stepping up for a new client. Would have been easy to brush me off during this unprecedented time especially with what’s going on in your personal life. My prayers for you, your father and your family. May you find peace. gail
