  1. Keep in mind that the type of deposit is only relevant prior to making final payment. Once you reach final payment due date and you pay for the cruise in full, at that point standard cancellation terms apply regardless if you had a refundable or non-refundable deposit. You can convert a refundable rate to non-refundable rate but not the other way around. Often though cruise prices increase over time and when you convert it's done at prevailing rates on that day, not what the rates were when you originally booked. For this reason it often doesn't make sense to convert from refundable to non-refundable.
  2. The price difference between refundable and NRD can be all over the place. I've seen the increase be from $0 to over $2,000 just to make a cruise refundable. Interior and OV cabins often have small difference while balcony and JS suites can be a higher fee to make it refundable. Grand Suite and above are mostly not available refundable. There are some exceptions but for the most part full suites are always NRD. It never hurts to ask or look for the check box near the end of the booking process right before putting a deposit down on the Royal website.
  3. Welcome to the message boards. There is a thread about this so take comfort knowing you aren't the first. In my experience with the new UI the pricing does track with $1 on a level playing field. You probably grabbed it before when it was discounted and now it's a higher price not because of the new UI, that's just how Royal pricing works, old UI or new UI. Unless you are on a Haifa based cruise there will be many sales between now and when Odyssey sails elsewhere. There should be an opportunity to watch for sales and hopefully find it again at a lower price. Another word of warning - Royal excursions that Royal themselves provides such as items at CocoCay also now are now subject to tax. Don't cancel any other excursions without factoring in 12% VAT in the Bahamas. Excursion provided by 3rd parties such as Swim with the Pigs, don't seem to be subject to taxation, just Royal items.

  7. Interesting in a number of ways, including some features of a JS like lighting and motorized drapes. In quarantine as part of the arrival protocols.
  8. I called and spoke with the Ministry of Health COVD-19 Helpline this afternoon. The Travel Authorization is $75 and should be submitted 5 days before. This is in contrast to the website that says 1-3 days. It sounds like they are backed up right now so it's taking longer. You get a PCR test and apply for a travel authorization then wait for the approval before departing. If you board a flight without an approved travel authorization there is a $300 penalty. The $75 travel authorization fee includes the airport arrival PCR test as well as the other tests required on day 4, day 8 and day 14. This is premised on travelers staying on the island. She told me they haven't been given any instructions for cruise departure guests. Absent of those I was told of the current process for all immunised travelers involves the tests upon arrival, day 4, day 8 and day 14. Until they are informed differently this is the process. As an immunised traveler you are expected to go immediately to your hotel and begin quarantine until the airport arrival PCR test results come back. Assuming the results are negative you are then free to move about following all COVID-19 protocols and curfews that all residents abide by. On day 4 you test again and remain free to move about following all protocols unless the test comes back positive. On day 8 you test again and remain free to move about following all protocols unless the test comes back positive and so on. What happens if you don't test on day 4 because you are on a cruise? She didn't know telling me again the process for cruise ship guests hasn't been created yet. In retrospect I should have asked where does one go for the day 4, 8 & 14 tests but wasn't thinking about it because I was thinking of being on a ship and not being there to get tested. Immunised travelers from the UK face other restrictions.
  9. Welcome and I look forward to seeing your photography, if you are inclined to share.
  10. I'd be careful using Singapore (or Haifa soon) as an indication of what to expect elsewhere. In Singapore for example, the Windjammer isn't open for dinner. We have no idea if the same will apply anywhere else.
  11. I love Quantum class because they are different and offer unique activities not available on any other class of ship. Previously this class was designed for colder climates but Odyssey differs from her sisters in this regard. To me the balcony cabins on this class are the best in the fleet. I prefer Quantum class balcony cabins over Oasis class balcony cabins every time. Bumper cars, Sky Diving, NorthStar, Two70°, Music Hall and so on. So much to love about this class.

  13. When you stated "I will not sail with them again" it suggests you were planning to sail with someone else. It's regrettable that your situation precludes you from ever sailing again. Having agreed to the terms and conditions when you booked the cruise and subsequently upon accepting the FCC from the first cancellation the lesson learned for others in a similar situation is to fully read and understand the options that are being presented. When you agreed to move your money to the second cruise that was a choice and it has resulted in terms and conditions that do not include a refund. I understand you just want your money back but choices were made that don't allow that. You can continue to repeat your story over and over but it won't change the outcome.
  14. It's not a fixed number and it can vary depending on a number of factors. There is no way even the top scientists can calculate an exact number. Some have made wild guesses based on trends of other viruses or diseases they consider similar and relevant. In reality herd immunity is achieved once it happens but we won't know it until we can see it in actual data trends.
  15. From sister Oasis and the public overlook in the corner above the doors.
  16. Welcome to the message boards! All ships and even week to week there can be small changes in port times so there is no one answer to this question. The cruise planner might allow you to book both but make sure you leave at least 90 minutes between excursions, maybe more since these excursion don't always run on precise military timing.
  17. Cruises on Navigator from the west coast are also showing PDCC. It's actually not unheard of. When PDCC was first announced and started selling they appeared on my Alaska cruises a couple of years ago.
  18. I don't think so. I thinks it's only one side of the living wall of plants IIRC. Try googling some pictures of the CP.
