  1. Another possible reason for a carry on (Besides all of the great ones already presented ) is to make sure you have all of your medication with you. First day for the wife and I is to get a bite, get her a drink, and then head to the Solarium for a little swim and relaxation.
  2. Yes, I learn something new every cruise, being that I'm a avid student, I guess I will have to continue to take cruises so I can continue to learn. And of course, continue reading this blog...
  3. Doc, that was the way it was for me, we did self-assist in June and the sheet gave us a time range and then a time based on what floor we were on. I think it would really help RCI if people accurately filled in the cruise documentation with when they wanted to get off the ship, you know the section where you put in your return flight information. I know I didn't accurately fill it out on this June cruise, at the time I filled it out I wasn't planning on doing self-assist.
  4. We were on the Liberty in early June and carried off our own luggage, so we tried to leave as soon as we were up and showered, but we ran into a snag when we got off the elevator on the 4 level, they hadn't opened the gang way doors yet. Being that the ship is based in Texas I don't think they were prepared for the number of people that were driving home and therefore carrying their own luggage off. They quickly opened the doors and started scanning people off he boat, we were loaded and in our car and on the road by 9, so I was happy. I don't remember the ship feeling crowded and I know we were at capacity also, but I tend shy away from the large crowd areas.
  5. She has quite literally, better, worse? jury is still out, lol... Thanks for the meme's Kayla.
  6. Well said Sir, my vote is still out on that bacon dipped in chocolate though, I like bacon and I like chocolate, just not real sure of the combination.
  7. Thanks, I just really like Sabor and those Chicken stuffed Jalapenos...
  8. I was on Liberty In June and bought the 3 night dinning package, when we got on ship we went and checked were we were at the first night and it was Sabor, we followed that up with Cops and then Giovannis, we liked Sabor so much that we booked it again on the last night. They have these Chicken-Stuffed Jalapenos that are wrapped in bacon that could be my whole meal, matter of fact I think it was...
  9. I'm like Matt, get there by 10-10:30, usually on the ship 30-45 minutes later and having lunch by noon.
  10. No additional commentary, just the meme? Why is the rum all gone?
  11. We picked an excursion through Rome Private Excursions (Not through the Ship), it was with a group of people we meet through the Roll Call on Cruise Critic, there were 8 of us. Our tour guide picked us up and he explained that we would drive to the Amalfi Coast first (Furthest away from port) and work our way back, we had time to site see, eat lunch in Positano, then work our way back. Then we stopped at Pompeii, we made it back to port with plenty of time to spare, if I remember correctly your in port for a fairly long time. The only complaint I had was it was very warm in June, 2016 when we visited Pompeii. Between the twisting road, the wine at lunch and the heat, my wife ended up not being able to see Pompeii, so I made sure and took a lot of pictures for her. We liked our guide so well ( First, he did our Rome tour) that we talked in him to driving down the coast to Naples and doing our tour there as well, he was a great guide.
  12. I don't know about the sticker, but have read that the cups should be in your room.
  13. Here is an article written for first time cruisers on Oasis and Allure, hopefully this helps. If not go back to the main blog page and type Allure in the search box and it will bring up a large number of articles, also go to Google and type in Allure, ton more information plus some very good You Tube videos that will give you a overall good impression of the ship. I'm a planner also, but don't let yourself become overwhelmed, I had stopped cruising for 10 years and then the first one I went on in 2012 was Allure, she is a beautiful ship with tons of things to do, but again don't get overwhelmed, cursing is about doing as much or as little that you want to do, some of my best/worst cruises were when I tried to do to much and when I got home I was exhausted instead of being rested. Make a plan of attack and use the first day to completely familiarize yourself with the ship, try and see and do as much as possible that first day, then relax and enjoy the rest of the cruise. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2015/08/12/what-first-time-cruisers-need-know-about-oasis-and-allure-of-the-seas
  14. Sorry, didn't see this last night, TBS, Turner Broadcast System, isn't Captain Jack Sparrow a Disney creation? The one Disney cruise I've been on, my Grandsons loved Pirate night, it was a blast. I know you "Cord Cutters", if you can't stream it, you don't watch it...
  15. I communicated with Matt after I signed up as an insider and the Application for price tracking is no longer supported, it be gone... Doc in case you are interested there is one of the Pirate movies on TBS tonight, since you said you've never seen any of them...
  16. The only part that looks to be updated is the Main Home page and the points look current, there is a listing for a Presidents Cruise September 17th 2017 on Freedom. The members section, cruises is definitely out of date
  17. So many you will get tired of saying no thank you. Every dinner at your table, every time you get off the ship, every time you get on the ship, before and after every dinner, on the promenade and in front of every dinning room, on Oasis class ships out in Central Park, and then of course you can schedule a sit down professional picture session if you want. Some times the lines get long especially on formal nights and if you want to get one with the Captain, so be prepared.
  18. There is a shopping mall next door to where we come in as RCCL cruisers, it is the Carnival cruise dock, from a selection and layout stand point I really like the Carnival shopping area best, to me it was easy walking distance. When you look at it from the cruise ship when you are pulling in it looks like 1 pier, but from land they are 2 separate piers. There are no restriction to walk up from the road, so no worries there. We were at a resort last year and just walked up and shopped, then got a taxi and went sight seeing around the island.
  19. At Cozumel the taxi stand is all the way in the front, just follow the signs, of course they force you to walk through their little shopping mall hoping you will stop and buy something. The taxi stand can look very crowded, but it moves fast, especially if you are just 2. In June we went out about 9am from the ship, hit the Taxi stand by 9:15, were at Nachi about 9:30, 9:40 time frame. When you start getting close to the front of the Taxi line, start watching the drivers and holding up your fingers and shouting how many you are and if you are just a 2 you can usually jump in line. In June we got stuck behind a huge family, 20 people, the taxi's started jockeying around because they needed 3-4 vans, so I just kept holding up my hand yelling 2 and a driver pulled me out of line and we were loaded and gone before the family was. You will be hounded by people all the way through the mall, trying to sell you something, even saying they will take you to Nachi, don't believe them, Nachi will email you instructions, just follow them and ignore everything else Attached Nachi.docx is a copy of my email confirmation, hopefully I deleted all my personal stuff, after this a received a PayPal confirmation saying I had paid my deposit. Last year in October, I had booked Nachi, and then I was not able to make it, I emailed a cancellation before the deadline and had a refund the dame day.
  20. I live in NE Oklahoma, it's a 10 hour drive with stops for me, I'm like Michael Vitale, we take one day to drive down, this last June we HAD to stop in Waco (Wife insisted) then we drove to Houston and spent the night there, I travel to Houston a lot for business, so I stay by my office, that way I know where everything is, my wife loves Pappadeauz's sea food restaurant so it is always a win win for me, it's about an hour drive from the hotel to Galveston so not to bad, but that is only 2 people and not 6 so I see your what your up against. There is a real nice Courtyard by Marriott on Galveston beach that was reasonable, I had points so it didn't cost me anything, but I know the price wasn't bad. I also use EZ Cruise Parking, very close and efficiant. My wife and I like Galveston and Liberty so well we already have 2 more cruises booked on her. Hope you get there with no issues and enjoy your first cruise. Don't stress to much, it all eventually comes together... That comes from an OCD over-planner.
  21. http://www.cozumelnachicocom.com/, You have to prepay at least the deposit to reserve your spot. No this is not an official RCI excursion, but all the taxi drivers know where it is, 10-15 minuet drive, taxi's are done by zone in Cozumel, I can't remember what zone this is but it's not very expensive. When you walk in they will assign you a waiter, your waiter will take you to your Palapa/chairs, if you have an idea in mind when you think you want to leave, say 2:30 to go get some souvenirs, then tell your waiter 2:30 and they will have a taxi waiting. Or just tell them later when you want a taxi and it shouldn't be more than about 5 minuets. My wife and I told the waiter we wanted a taxi, and before we could go to the restroom and get our stuff packed up he was back telling us our taxi was ready.
