  1. Sorry, miss read what you wrote, complementary restaurants on Anthem always get good reviews.
  2. Yes, you probably should, trying to get a table for 8 every night with no reservation might be difficult. The specialty restaurants are all very good, but they cost extra unless you purchased in advance (Still an extra charge, just paid in advance instead of on the cruise).
  3. Another vote for Lava Flow with Kraken (Per my wife, she thought she would hate the rum floater but loved it.).
  4. Renaissance or the Embassy Suites, both excellent hotels close to the port.
  5. Was wondering if this was available for this sailing?
  6. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/category-detail.php?c=806, here is a picture and if you back track the web site and go to the actual floor plan, you can see as @WAAAYTOOO says, hover you mouse over the room 7321, Central Park view interior. Go down until you see room category 1S and there are more pictures.
  7. Agree, $8-10pp January of 2019, it will be a shared taxi with 10-12 of your closest friends that you don't know. http://cruisett.com/forum.php, go here and find you cruise and the date of your cruise and see how many other cruise ships will be in port with you in St Maartin, that would directly influence my decision to go to Maho Beach or not. If there are 3-4 ships in port at the same time, I would not go again. it is just to crowded for the benefit of watching a plane land (No more 747's). I looked it up, it looks like Harmony is the only ship in port. To answer your question the bar is ok to good, the service seemed really good considering the number of people, food had good flavor, drinks were ok. Here is a picture of the beach with 3 cruise ships in port.
  8. Yea, I get it, but I've been in this situation before, I was on the phone with Royal after an online booking, and I was just trying to move the room closer to the elevator bank and the agent kept going on about 2's, 3's and 4's and what I wanted was a 6 and there would be a $100pp difference, WTF, all I want to do is move closer to the elevator, so we went through it again, finely I stopped them and said, what are you talking about with the numbers and letters? They explained the designations to me, explained that some are valued more than others due to proximity to things, etc., at that point I said give me the room and I'm ok with the $100pp. I'm not bashing anyone, but I'm hoping some future cruiser reads these blogs and figures all of this out before they get upset and start bashing Royal. We all have to be vigilant with how we spend our money and make good educated choices, otherwise we'll be giving our bank account information to a Saudi Prince...
  9. I think what is obstructed is the view below your balcony, the life boats will be below you on deck 5, so when at sea you would not be able to look directly down at the ocean. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/youtube.php?id=3882, this is supposed to be 6598, you can actually see the obstruction on the video.
  10. She did "Like" one of my comments though, which I thought was a little odd, oh well, as another one time poster recently posted, cruising may not be for them.
  11. We did this on Allure SC cruise in January, I don't drink either and my Wife doesn't drink much, definitely not a wine coinsurer, she really did find that the pairings worked as long as you took a bite of the food dish with each pairing. With that said, by the end of the night I was feeling way out of place, being around drinkers and drunks doesn't bother me, but by the end of the meal, 2.5 hours of my life I will never get back, it was really starting wear thin, some of the wines had really high alcohol contents so the other side of the table was starting to get loud an obnoxious, but I'm a trouper, my Wife was having fun, so I stuck it out. Funny side note was that our Genie was holding prime real estate for the 70 party on the promenade for us and the dinner took so long and we were so late that he finely had to give it up. He caught up with us later and seemed like he was a little miffed with us, I told him to take it up with the Chef and the sommelier, we all laughed about it. Glad you are having a great time, we will be on Anthem next month for the Group cruise.
  12. For your cruise the ship should stay on Miami time (Pinging @twangster to confirm this), if time is going to be moved up or back the Captain usually makes an announcement and it will always be posted in the Cruise Compose (News letter left in your cabin every night). As @WAAAYTOOO says, there will be signs when leaving the ship as to what time all aboard is, I always try and get back at least an hour before that time. One other caution is that if you use your cell phone as your watch leave it in airplane mode or it will register to the local cell provider and reset to the local time, not ship time. I would converse with Viator or the actual tour operator and discuss that you are coming in on a cruise ship and that you are concerned about the timing, if they are a good established tour operator that deals a lot with cruise customers, this should not be a foreign topic to them. If you don't get satisfactory answer I would book with the cruise ship, that way if you are late, the ship will wait for you.
  13. I'm still saying it might have been a browser issue and maybe not a web site issue, I've just done 10 mock bookings on different dates and different ships (Since I'm guessing which one it is) and on each mock booking I've picked the higher priced option, pick your own room, and I have been prompted to select my room on all 10 mock bookings. One date, it tried to put me in the aft section and I selected midship and the page stated a +18 dollar price differential. As stated before, using chrome Incognito so the Royal web page should not know who I am, no cookies being tracked.
  14. I've done resort multiple times with Resort for a day, and I love their product and service level. I actually called them this morning to cancel an up coming resort stop from a cruise and they immediately answered the phone and processed the cancellation and refund, all within 2 minutes.
  15. You are allowed 1 mistake a month so no more for you, lol.
  16. The bait and switch post for those of you that have seen it.
  17. I think we might be getting post confused, there was another post that Royal wanted $92 for the couple to upgrade to a different cabin.
  18. I'm having to reverse engineer this from the OP original post, trip to Bermuda and something about 4B. That leads me to Adventure OTS out of Newark going to Bermuda, so say they picked Spacious Balcony, there are 5 cabin categories, 1B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 6B, so she picked a 4B cabin and there were none available, so the phone agent was telling them for $92, more than likely offering a 6B cabin. It could also be Grandeur or Serenade, Anthem doesn't show a 4B category. We all know that the cabin itself is the exact same but the difference comes where the cabin is located on the deck in regards to elevators and other things, so they were getting a better located cabin for $92pp, probably a 6B due to no 4B's available on the sailing.
  19. Can you provide the exact cruise that you were going to book (Or booked)? Ship and date, room category you were looking at? I've booked upwards of 12 cruises on Royals web site (and 100 if not thousands of mock bookings) and I have never seen this issue, when it says click here to pick you room it always redirects me to a floor plan where I select my room. I now use a travel agent mainly for simplicity reason, I don't have time to do the research that I used to, so I let them do the research and present me with options. I currently have 7 future cruises booked through 2021 and have not had any of the issues you describe. I have seen issues where 1 browser verses another browser will receive different feedback from Royals web page, but most of the time this is a security or pop up blocker. I have found the best results using Chrome and opening an incognito session.
  20. I'm not on until June, I'm really not worried.
  21. If you did I would definitely take out insurance, just in case. If they cancel they should refund 100% plus maybe some FCC. To be safe I would book the March 15th cruise if it works.
