Southsider Posted July 11, 2024 Report Posted July 11, 2024 hi guys booked cruise only and arriving a few days early to see florence etc. called up for shuttle cost and RC told me i need to do it via iglu cruises whom i booked with. bit strange !!! there wanting £176 for 2 persons return seems steep. Any other options ? train doesn’t look that frequent to ravenna Quote
Kelseylovestocruise Posted July 11, 2024 Report Posted July 11, 2024 I’m taking the train from Venice to Ravenna the day before the cruise. Staying in a hotel in Ravenna then taking a shuttle to the port from the hotel. Afterwards I’m taking the RCI shuttle back to the Venice airport. I will report back afterwards on how it goes. I’m doing it in August. Quote

Kelseylovestocruise Posted July 11, 2024 Report Posted July 11, 2024 For my cruise no. I used a travel agent. They had to book the shuttle through RCI for me. Quote
Southsider Posted July 11, 2024 Author Report Posted July 11, 2024 iglu are saying £176 for 2 persons that’s a rip off Quote
4 canucks Posted July 11, 2024 Report Posted July 11, 2024 hi, we were on Explorer of the Seas out of Ravenna June 22-29, 2024. I can share RCCL transfer pricing for 1 way on disembarkation day, because on cruise day we took public transit to the cruise port (more below if interested). RAVENNA PORT TRANSFERS On the first sea day (Day 2), we were asked to select how we will disembark. A piece of paper detailing transfers was left in our cabin (5 options), here are two that go to the airports: Ravenna cruise port to Bologna airport (BLQ): $40US per person 1 way Ravenna Cruise port to Venice airport (VCE): $45 US per person 1 way (please see attached photo for all 5). I hope this is useful for your planning. ============ BOLOGNA to Ravenna cruise port (public transit method): On cruise day we took the regional train from Bologna train station to Ravenna Train station . 9 euros one way each person. 1 hr 12 mins. This was not easy. Many cruisers also on the train, and everyone had to manage their luggage. We were on the 9:05am train and as there were no reserved seating, a small number of people had to stand. Once we arrived the Ravenna train station, we saw a man in a reflective vest carrying a Royal Caribbean sign. We didn't go to him as we went to take the #90 city bus (2 euros per person), but i suspect that if you approach him you'd be able to purchase a transfer from Ravenna train station to the cruise port. Kelseylovestocruise Posted July 12, 2024 Report Posted July 12, 2024 My shuttle cost me €20 for Ravenna to the port and approx $45usd for the cruise ship to Marco Polo airport in Venice. This is for one person as I’m sailing solo Southsider 1 Quote
Southsider Posted July 12, 2024 Author Report Posted July 12, 2024 so did you organise that on the ship for the return ? Quote
Southsider Posted July 12, 2024 Author Report Posted July 12, 2024 thanks for that extremely helpful. much appreciated Quote
LCWind Posted July 12, 2024 Report Posted July 12, 2024 You can also take the train from Bologna to Ravenna. I think I paid €8 one way. Go to tren Italia website for train times and prices. Then you can take a shuttle from the Ravenna station to the port. Quote

If you mean whether we chose the transfer on the ship, then yes. Soon after we received the paper in our cabin with the 5 options, there was a menu / screen in the Royal Caribbean app on our phone asking us to indicate what our disembarkation plans were. We get to put in whether we will self-assist (or not), what time we plan to leave, and if we wanted a transfer (and we'd get to pick from the same 5 options ). hope this helps Tammy LR 1 Quote
Artvlay Posted October 14, 2024 Report Posted October 14, 2024 We are planning on taking Celebrity ship next year and trying to figure things out. After the cruise we have to get back to Rome. Here are some questions that we have. What time would the RC bus get us to Bologna train station? If we took the shuttle bus to Ravenna train station, what time would we be able to board a train in Ravenna? Thanks Quote

Or do we need to reserve something airway of time? Thanks so much for the help. Quote
LCWind Posted October 22, 2024 Report Posted October 22, 2024 I suggest you reserve ahead of time. Go to the Ravenna tourist website. You will see the shuttle schedule and prices there. Ravenna is a beautiful city (UNESCO world heritage site). If you can arrive the night before, then you can explore the city in the morning before taking the shuttle to the port. Tammy LR 1 Quote
KJones Posted October 22, 2024 Report Posted October 22, 2024 Re: RC Shuttles - I think they run about every 30min -1hr or so, depending on how quickly the buses fill. If taking the shuttle from the train station to the port, you can reserve ahead of time, or just show up and they'll bill it to your room (12.50 euro/person). For port to train, you can also reserve before the sailing or while on-board. I will also recommend arriving a day or two early to visit Ravenna. Tammy LR 1 Quote

Does this service drop you off right at the ship terminal or do we have to walk a ways to get there? Quote

I did this from my hotel in Ravenna. It picked me up right at my hotel. I was in a van with one couple so 3 of us total. We went directly to the port and you had to walk about 150m to get to the terminal. Quote
