Squiggles
We're sailing on the Jewel in December-Southern Caribbean out of San Juan. Does anyone have any experience in Trinidad and Tobago? Looking for things to do there. Possibly excursions. Thanks!
instaGator
I highly recommend sticking with a ship sponsored excursion on your first visit to these ports. In Trinidad we hiked to the Maracas waterfall and in Tobago we hiked in the Main Ridge Forest Reserve. Both were fun but are suitable only for people without any mobility issues. Royal Caribbean had stayed away from these islands for about 20 years due to political instability issues. RC returned last year: https://www.cruisehive.com/royal-caribbean-returning-to-caribbean-cruise-destination/88109# & https://newsday.co.tt/2022/11/16/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-to-return-after-20-years/ I am sure that you will have a great time ChessE4 and pnk
pnk
Thanks for your post! We were wondering the same thing. We are on JOS in Feb. Also wondering if excursions are needed, or if there is enough to do at the port or just outside of it?
KristiZ
I blogged about my trip last spring that included Trinidad & Tobago. Check it out for the excursions we did: pnk
Austin
I second the ship sponsored excursions in Trinidad. Tobago seems a lot safer. It’s much more relaxed and laid back. pnk and ChessE4
mills10
While it was nearly 20 years ago I lived in Trinidad for a year and would definitely recommend sticking with the excursions offered by the ship. I'm not sure where the ship will dock but if it's anywhere in Port of Spain there isn't much to do within walking distance and the public transport isn't very clear to figure out where you want to go. pnk
