Hey all. I'm hoping someone here can help me navigate some reservation concerns.  I booked a 7 night cruise out of Panama on Rhapsody for my wife and two children for December 2023.  Unfortunately, my two children have to attend some medical appointments out of state and wont be able to travel.  We (wife and 2 children) booked an ocean view room on the 3rd floor (4 beds).  When I called to see what my options were, I was told my only option was to switch to a small room, which would cost me double what I initially got my 4 bed room for.  I was told that I could switch names out, but wasn't told (she hung up on me) if I could just find one more adult to travel and remove the kids completely without downgrading my room and paying double. My questions are...

1) Can I remove the 2 children completely from the reservation and just see if I can find another to fill the adult slot without being forced to move to a downgraded room and spending double?

2) Do I have any other options?  I did see something about no show at the port.  Is that a legit thing?  I bring this up because I'm from the US and am flying into Panama for debarkation.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, but name swap is what you want to do.

When you add or remove someone from a reservation, it actually triggers a reprice.

So what you want to do is swap out your kids names for an adult. As long as someone from original reservation (you) stays on booked, you can name swap anyone else. Name swapping does not trigger reprice.

Yes, I do this all the time because sometimes uncertain if my wife can make it.

Thanks Matt

So in the above example, I'd have to bring 3 other people regardless...sounds like the no show is the best route.

So in your opinion, things like the premium drink package.  If I pre book it, I can save money vs booking it after the cruise launches, but I have to pay for 2 adults up front.  Have you ever done this?  I'm assuming you can get a credit after the no show?  Would it be better to just purchase the package on the sail date instead (I'm thinking this would be more expensive in the long run, but maybe easier).

Was your cruise one of the ones cancelled?  Emails went out recently giving options that included full refunds.

read the article and check your email. If you have nothing call whoever you booked with Travel agent or if not  Royal caribbean) and get this addressed. Choices are due soon
