Casino room rates and trade-in certificates

Recommended Posts

I called the casino reservation line recently to book an additional room for friends and was given a rate that was higher than the pick your room rate if I booked it myself. They advised me the discount for prime members is 5% and signature and masters is 10%. Even then, this didn’t make much sense as the rate they provided me was after the supposed discount. I was under the impression that the casino room rates weren’t as simple as a 5% or 10% off the on-going online rate, but a secret sauce formula 😂. Or is this only the case when I’m booking an additional suite for friends and/or family? And instead the casino room secret sauce rates only apply to club Royale members booking a cabin for themselves?

Also was wondering, if I don’t like any of the sailings offered, can I book a different cruise via casino reservation for the casino room rate and apply multiple certificates (that have trade in values of course) to the same reservation? Or can I only apply one certificate per cruise? To get the most value (+OBC), could I do an open booking or regular booking with next cruise and then call the casino reservation line to book or change the sailing to get the casino room rate then apply the certificates?

First of all, I think the "secret sauce formula" days are long gone.  Casino rates definitely used to be different than the online published rates but I don't really think that's the case any longer.  Recently I inquired about upgrading some casino bookings and they basically quoted me the difference between what I paid and what the current online rate for the upgraded cabin.  I don't think casino folks get any benefit whatsoever anymore.

My guess is that the quote they gave you for adding a guest booking was at the current rate vs whatever rate you paid.  Had you booked both rooms at the same time I feel confident that the guest fare would have been calculated on the same base fare you paid, but I am only guessing.

You cannot "stack" certificates...so only 1 certificate will be able to be applied to a booking.  There is 1 exception to this rule - any certificates earned by spouses on the same cruise, can be combined.  So Dan and I can combine certificates that we both earned on the same cruise.  To my knowledge, that is the only time casino certs can be stacked.

Yes, I’ve experienced the same when I was asking for upgrades as well and it seemed like it was just the difference between the 2 rooms based on online prices as opposed to the special casino rate for the respective rooms.

Just to clarify, as I was on the phone, I quoted an interior and balcony room with the casino rep whIle simultaneously making a mock booking and my mock booking (at a choose your room rate) was cheaper than the discounted casino room rate they quoted me which didn’t make any sense. When I inquired about this, this is when they disclosed how the rates are calculated with the 5% and 10% discount for the respective status tiers. I told them this didn’t make any sense and they basically had no idea why that was the case. I further inquired if this was always the case that the casino room rates were the online rates with a 5% or 10% discount and they said yes this has always been the case as far as the casino rep knew.

I called just now because I wanted clarification on the casino room rate and they said if it’s a booking for yourself, there is a discount which is based on your casino play from your most recent cruise. This discount is a fixed $ amount for any bookings up to March 2024 sailings. This $ discount can change since it is based off of your most recent cruise. A casino certificate’s trade in value can be applied here as well.

I assume any free play on the certificate is lost if used as trade in value?

Well, good to know that they are still doing this.  That's the way it used to be, but it seemed like they were no longer doing this.  Glad to hear that they are.

I was told that trade-in value is just that and you lose any perks associated with the certificate.

Ah that’s unfortunate. Especially since the higher tier offers have a pretty hefty free play attached to them.

Also of note.......not only can you not stack offers, unless two people each have the same offers, you cannot combine offers from like my Vegas or other casino rewards.

Oh really? I thought I have read past posts where patrons have been able to combine interior + balcony for JS or something similar?

You can combine a balcony+ balcony for a JS and an Interior + Interior for a balcony, we covered that.

I am talking about if you have OBC/Freeplay form myVegas or another gambling site, they cannot be combined with casino offers. If you make a regular booking, you can get OBC/freeplay from myVegas. If you use the casino certificate, they only allow you to combine offers that are the same for multiple individuals. i.e., no stacking of $off, no $off and a free interior for two people sharing the room, etc.
