new2cruzing
HI All, as the title is asking, this is my 1st Casino Royale certificate and I want to book before it expires. My only fear is if the price for the cabin category goes down, will I be able to reprice and still keep the discount from the trade in certificate? Thanks in advance. billdauterive
I don't know the answer but personally I would think yes since it's a discount and not a comp. You should call the casino line and ask your hypothetical to at least get an idea (even though yes different reps give different answers). I would think worst case you would be able to upgrade to a higher category for no/low cost if prices actually do go down.

I did call and the rep I spoke with sounded confident that the answer is Yes. She said the same rule applies up until final payment date. I'll test those waters if the price does come down. DoomSlayer
Anytime you book using a casino voucher or a comp, things get a little more complicated because they go through the casino desk and are taken from casino pricing -- not normal pricing. You typically have to pay 100% in full at the time of booking and have little recourse when trying to reprice the trip because your due date has already been reached (you do not have the typical up to 90 days before sailing options in a casino comp or voucher). There have been some success stories for repricing a casino booked cruise if you find the right person to talk to, but more times than not, they do not allow it. The only time I have been able to "reprice" a casino comp cruise is when I called in to do an upgrade using the latest pricing, but I have never been able to simply reprice the same room I already had. This has been my personal experience, others may want to share their personal experience.
WAAAYTOOO
I assume the OP is discussing a “dollars off” certificate as opposed to a comp certificate. If that is the case, you do not have to pay in full when booking the cruise/redeeming the cert. I just did this 2 days ago. As far as taking advantage of a price drop, I wouldn’t waste any time or sleep worrying about that possibility. It almost certainly will not happen….particularly if your cruise is fairly close. As @DoomSlayer said, casino pricing is not the same as online pricing and frankly, it’s not even possible to determine whether your fare has gone down (or up) by looking at online prices. Just b/c a published fare shows a decrease (rare, RARE these days), it does not mean that your casino pricing has gone down. You would literally have to call the casino every time to see if there had been a price change. Having said ALL of that, I did actually have a fare reduction on a casino comp upgrade a couple of weeks back. I got a whopping $98 refunded on a fare reduction in combination with a category upgrade. First one like that I ever got. So it’s not impossible, but highly improbable. new2cruzing, DoomSlayer and Jack805 2
new2cruzing
Thanks to all for the input. @WAAAYTOOO You are correct, I booked using a comp cert from my last cruise but since none of the comps were for the sailing I wanted, I traded it in for $500 off. I confirmed rate with the casino royale rep and it matched what was listed on the 3rd party sites. I won't hold my breath but she did confirm I could reprice if it ever came down. This is precisely what we did with our certs. new2cruzing
