What has your experience been like with the gyms and cafe?

All been good. Even back to when it was the "ship shape center" and you earned prize money for going.

Visited the Vitality Cafe about a half dozen times on Wonder - really nice. Great smoothies & protein drinks, made fresh to order.  I did not work out in the fitness center there myself, just used the track on those cruises, but the fitness center looked pretty great walking through.

This may have been a dum question… I expanded the smoothie menu and it clearly says they are included in the DDP.

Unless things have changed (entirely possible), smoothies are included but protein powder for drinks is not included.

2 cruises I took last year I used the gym (Independence and Harmony) and found them both really nice.  I love how they have a selection of cardio equipment facing windows with great views.

I’m on voyager of the seas now… the gym here does not offer smoothies.

Another q, does the fitness center have water bottles or drinking fountains? Or would i need to pick one up from cafe promenade in the early AM before a workout?

Vitality Cafe on Wonder

The fitness centers on every ship I have ever been on have been top notch.  Very similar to a commercial gym.  The only thing they lack are squat racks and free weight machines. They are all cable machines and each ship generally has at least 1 Smith machine.  They do have plenty of dumbbells.  Still, I have never had an issue getting in quality weight training on the ship.  And they have tons of cardio machines, so that's never an issue.

As to water bottles - no. They have a water fountain, but you will need to grab a water bottle prior to going to the fitness center.  And, if you're an early bird, I'd say plan ahead the night before b/c most of the bars are not open at 6 am.  I've had to go to the Cafe on 5 to get a water to trek back to the Fitness Center on 11 many times.
