Vision Panama Canal Sailing

Recommended Posts

FYI...I called the C&A number (866-562-7625) to check on the Vision Panama Canal sailings next year. The rep could see it but could not book it for me yet, so she recommended calling first thing in the morning. I will be at it starting at 6 am eastern...

The first sailing is on November 13, 2018 from Miami to LA. The second sailing is on November 29, 2018 from LA to New Orleans. This may interfere with the Symphony GC, so I have some thinking to do.

I booked the westbound Panama Canal transit this morning (Nov. 13).  These PC transits are pricey but we have never done a canal transit before so we're going to bite the bullet and do it.

To my great surprise, they had the casino rates loaded into their system so was able to get the casino rate right off the bat - plus, she moved a cruise certificate from another cruise that I had to cancel so I was very pleased.

To my knowledge, these cruises are still not appearing on the website so if you're interested in a Vision sailing  - either the PC transits or later on after she starts cruising out of NOLA, call them directly.  I have read on CC that they are already taking NOLA bookings as well.

Sadly, I had to cancel the group cruise on Symphony in order to take advantage of this PC transit cruise so we will not be going on that one with those of you who have booked the Symphony. Symphony will have to wait for another time.

We'll see you all on Harmony in September though !

Awesome, I think you will enjoy it, my wife and I went in 2001, we were celebrating our 20th anniversary, I'm sure a lot has changed with the new dig and the new mega locks, we went on Princess back then, 1 of my few non-RCCL cruises, I don't think RCCL was cruising the Panama back then or their dates didn't fit my needs, to long ago.

In 2001 we were in our 40's, and because of the long itinerary most of the people on board were much older, we felt out of place, but still had a wonderful time. We are the older folks now on cruises.

The day we entered the locks (Going east to west) was very, very early, 4am, but we woke up and tried to go to the bow of the ship but almost didn't make it because of all the wheel chairs and electric scooters, the remainder of the day we decided to watch from our balcony, which was fine, but what you saw depended on whether the lock was draining or filling, some of the times we were just looking at a concrete wall. We didn't stop anywhere after the locks, we just transited the lakes and went to the west side locks. It is very beautiful scenery.

Happy you got it booked, I looked into it last night, but the dates don't fit with existing commitments.

I just want to commend RC's service. I called the C&A number last night, and they called me while I was driving from Tennessee to Alabama this morning and asked if I wanted to do a booking. I told them that I didn't want to sacrifice my existing Symphony (GC) booking to do it, but that I wanted to watch out for other possible PC sailings. I really appreciated the follow through from them.
