FoxboroCruiser
The app lists 3 days where they have Texas Hold 'em Poker tournaments at 11:00 AM but it says "1 Hour". Is that a placeholder "1 Hour", or are these turbo tournaments? I'd love to play next week on Anthem, but only if the blinds go up in reasonable increments. Anyone have any experience playing in these tourneys? Any info is greatly appreciated! So excited to be within a week of sailing

Anyone have any experience playing in these tourneys? Any info is greatly appreciated! So excited to be within a week of sailing I haven't played in one of the preliminary TH tournaments in a few years but back when I was playing them, the blinds up were VERY quick. There were opportunities to re-buy if you chose to do that but the play is fast and furious. It's not my style so I quit them a while back. WAAAY back, Dan won the ship qualifying tourney and we went to the Royal Poker Tour finals in December of that year. It was a manic cruise and I will never go on a cruise again when they are holding a big tournament. Psycho and Barb
Psycho use to enter and play in the tournaments but not anymore. The blinds went up way to fast and with the ability to rebuy a lot of the players were constantly going all in on every hand. Not the way he likes to play. FoxboroCruiser
This is what I was afraid of when I saw the "1 Hour" time frame. We call them "turbo's" when the blinds change in very short increments. I'll go see the casino host to get the details, but if that's the case, it's a pass for me./ To bad, was really looking forward to playing. When I play at the CT casinos they do mid-week tourneys at 11:00AM and if you make it to the final table you might play for 4-5 hours... similar to my home game. Faster than that and people tend to play reckless and dumb...not enjoyable.
Psycho and Barb
There is usually some late night cash games on most ships. Much more enjoyable playing. FoxboroCruiser
memebag
I just played in a Hold'em tournament on Adventure (11/18/2022), so I have recent info. $100 buy in, plus $50 to double your stack. Everyone doubled. Ten minute rounds. Blinds go up fast. An aggressive strategy is probably best. One table, ten seats. Sign up as soon as the casino will let you. Don't wait until the day of the tournament. We had one tournament on the first sea day. The second sea day had one scheduled, but some players complained a lot and they added another. Our tournament lasted about an hour and a half. First two places paid out. First place was $840. Not sure what second place was. FoxboroCruiser
$150 turbo is probably too rich for my blood. Mohegan Sun (casino in CT) has weekday tournaments for under $100 where you can play for hours if your half decent and not a crazy player. memebag
With the $100 OBC from MyVegas Slots, buy in is only $50.
