Future cruise credit

I read the passengers who are choosing to go ahead with their cruise on Anthem this week are being offered a 50% future cruise credit  as well as a 50% refund (obc), just Curious how this works? Is it off the full price of another cruise or do you get a credit for 50 % of the current cruise cost that can be use even on a sale price?

Both the 50% rebate (provided as OBC) and the 50% FCC is based solely on the cruise fare (top line in the cruise confirmation) of this cruise NOT some future cruise fare.  There is some hokey math involved.  They take the total cruise fare and reduce it by a “non-commissionable fee” and THEN calculate 50%. I don’t know if the non-commissionable fee is always the same or if it varies.  In our case, on a recent cruise, that fee was $250 PP.

As guests we focus on the total cruise cost while things like taxes, port fees, port facility charges etc. don't resonate with us.  We tend to think in terms of the total cost to go on a cruise while the industry tends to break down and separate many itemized things we glob together.

FCC and offers will generally calculate from some amount we don't compute but in the end usually makes sense for the industry.
