Magandsons
(If this thread already exists, please let me know or delete) Has anyone every found a lost connection from a prior cruise a long time ago? My husband and I cruised on Monarch of the Seas in August 1998 and we were seated in the Honeymoon dining room with other newly married couples. There was a couple from New York City that we really got along well with and meant to keep in touch afterwards. Of course this was prior to social media and email wasn't that popular so we lost touch. Now 20 years later we don't even remember their names but occasionally remember them and wish we had kept in touch. Back then they lived in New York city, they were on their honeymoon, I think he was a special education teacher and she worked in a toll booth. I think they had cruised before and sounded like they were going to be regular cruisers so I thought they might be here somewhere. If you were on the Monarch of the Seas and sat with Rob and Maggie in the honeymoon dining room, lets reconnect!

VillainsGin
Funny story relating to finding long lost connections! Me and my S/O met another couple we got along with so well we started doing activities on the ship together on rhapsody OTS year 2000. Myspace was popular back then so we kept in touch there until facebook came out and we lost connection, fast forward from 2000 to 2022 i was on oasis OTS with my S/O and finally bumped into him in the funniest way. I'm a big time "enthusiast" and enjoy frequenting the casinos to wind down after a long day of excursions/activities. I play mostly tables and I ALWAYS carry two lucky charms placed on the tables i'm playing on. (picture below) He was walking past my table and noticed the charm and approached me saying "he used to know a scumbag with that exact charm that ghosted him 20 years ago". At first it didn't click with me and thought he was drunk then after he dropped a few more hints my face lit up with nostaglia! He was able to recognize me only by my lucky charm because there was no way for me to recognize him. 20 years sure has changed us both, unfortunately he was no longer with his partner but we grabbed drinks at the bar and reminiscence/caught up in life. NOW thanks to social media and technology we have kept in touched via multiple platforms (instagram/twitch/discord/twitter/etc) no way to lose him this time. Attached below is one of my two lucky charms (my second one is a lickitung)i always gamble with. WAAAYTOOO
What a great story, @VillainsGin ! So glad you got back in touch. Whats incredible about your story is the fact that not 15 minutes ago, Dan and I were having dinner in the Solarium Bistro (Wonder). A man walked up to Dan and said, “I know you…”. It turned out to be a fellow Legionnaire from Virginia that Dan hadn’t seen in probably 6 years. What a small world it can be ! I'm dumbfounded till this day with the sheer number of cruisers annually that the cruising community stays tightly knit. With millions of cruisers a year I still manage to bump into familiar friends from past cruises. Definitely does make it easier for cruisers to recognize you based off any patterns and distinct aesthetics you have on every cruise. Personally for me I have my designated fanny-pak, gambling charms and you can always find me at the casino on ultimate texas holdem tables every night of the cruise HAHA. Fuzzywuzzy
We would welcome seeing some of the folks we met on RC Cruises. Sadly, not a single one from 5 Disney cruises.
xolisflo
I had a meet-cute experience on Anthem of the Seas last November 12-19, 2023. We met on the last night of the cruise at the Music Hall, where we spent the entire night talking, laughing, and dancing during The Amazing Iconic Band's set until DJ April's midnight party set. All thanks to that bar stool that blocked my path that's why we started talking. He moved it out of the way for me. I had him at "Excuse me." And then we just started talking. My plan to just stay for a few minutes turned into hours. He was wearing a black hoodie, and I was wearing an off-shoulder white dress. We hung out by the bar stool, shared some stories and laughters even if it was so hard to talk over loud music. i remember the way he laughed and blushed when I told him he looked like a certain Marvel character. After such a great evening, sadly we didn't get to exchange contact details. I thought about slipping him my contact details, but I admit I held back cos I thought he might not be interested to stay in touch. And I was kinda hoping he'd ask for mine, but since he didn't, I thought what I thought. Looking back, I wish I just slipped him my contacts. That way, I wouldn't be having these endless what-ifs. eitherway, he'd still be a part of my fond memories on that trip. I just thought it'd be really nice to reconnect with him, if the circumstances will allow it. His name is Jon (or John?), he's from Rhode Island. He's in his late 20s and works in software at a travel agency. He's in his late 20s and works in software at a travel agency. To Jon, There are probably countless of "Jon" or "John" where you're from, but if ever you get to see this, and if you remember someone named "Lis" and you identify with this story, then chances are, you're the "JON" I'm looking for. I had a great time with you, even if it was just for one night - our last night on the cruise ship at that. Months have passed and I can only hope you still remember me. I admit you've left quite an impression, which has pushed me to share this. It's probably a one-in-a-million chance as we also live oceans apart and we're back to our own realities, but if ever this finds you and we're on the same page, that's great! I'd be happy to reconnect and see where this connection could possibly go. If not, then for what it's worth, at least I'm happy we've met and that our paths have crossed somehow. I've been going over my photo and video album of that trip recently (cos I'm sorting them) and it just made me extra nostalgic. Sherrie
In mid January I met a guy named Mark from Illinois on Navigator of the Seas Catalina/Ensenada trip. I had the most incredible time with him and am still suffering the regrets of not getting his last name, social media or telephone number. I have tried to find him since my drive back home when the cruise was over. I even wrote a short story and published it on Amazon "8288". While it may not have held much significance to him, to me it did. I don't just connect with people with the fire and spark I felt towards him and here I am.... still thinking of him every day and have no way to even really search for him. We lived in the moment, maybe we should have shared more details about each other but I freaking enjoyed the heck out of his company and wish I could still chat with him. Maybe one day he'll see this. He'd know its me by my room number. 8288. Cheers to him finding me! Sherrie - California
