  1. Rony's Tours comes highly recommended on this forum and we are looking to book at tour with him for our upcoming visit. He is asking us to pay a deposit which I'm prepared to do. He's is asking us to balance in cash to the driver on the day "before you arrive at the first activity / attraction". Is that the standard practice with Rony's? Just asking out of an abundance of caution that I won't get stuck without any transport after paying in full at the start of the tour, as opposed to the end of the tour.
  2. Hello all. We have some Western Caribbean cruises coming up. Ports of call are Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. For those of you who have done excursions solo (that is, no one else in your cruising party joined you), what were your favorites, and what would you not do again?
  3. Hi! Me and my family are going on the 16th of February Harmony of the Seas sailing. In the ports of Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel, we are looking for something to do for free. Like going to a market, walking to a nearby beach, snorkling on our own, going to a park or something similar. Do any of you have any recommendation for those things? ? I'm particularly struggling to find a beach near the port in Cozumel.
  4. I am sailing on Harmony with my mom in April to Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatán, & Perfect day @ CocoCay and I am looking for excursions recommendations for something that has to do with seeing the ruins, food such as making a local meal or chocolate or shopping or at resort for a day or an excursion that has all of those either in Cozumel, or Costa Maya. And when visiting Roatán I want to either go on a beach/waterpark with lunch excursion or spend the day at a resort. I do not want to go on an excursion @ CocoCay I would like for your opinions & recommendations for the excursions that you think we would like for Cozumel, México, Costa Maya, México & Roatán, Honduras. Also please tell me the names of the excursions and where I can book the excursions if that is even possible for you to remember the names of the excursions that you recommended for each of the ports (other than CocoCay) and where the excursions can be reserved. I’m asking for any excursions for the ports listed for the interest I had provided. They can be either third party excursions or sponsored thru Royal Caribbean? Also would appreciate opinions on any other excursions that you went had been on
  5. Getting ready to go on Harmony of Seas with ports at Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Coco Cay. Need recommendations for best excursions since I have been on a couple of Disney cruises in past and excursions I picked weren't really worth the money.
  6. We have an upcoming cruise on Harmony in late August and are staying star class. First time on RCCL (we have sailed DCL) and first time on Western Caribbean itinerary. It’s just me and my 9 year old son. He doesn’t like the beach but loves swimming in pools. I love lying around getting served frozen drinks. We will be getting off at coco cay and at Costa maya (to zip line.). I’ve considered getting a resort day pass in Cozumel but am also considering just staying on the ship in both Cozumel and Roatan. It seems kind of silly to disembark to go somewhere to pay for food, drink and pools when we have all of that already on board. But does the ship really empty out on port days and/or if we stayed onboard for 2/4 port days will we regret it? I’m also super concerned about safety - as we will be traveling without my husband. So any advice? Is using the ship’s pools on a port day with less people and enjoying our star class perks just as good as snagging a day pass for a resort? Thanks for any advice!
  7. Hello all, hoping I can help others save money and frustration. Some RC, Roatan excursions have been rescheduled for later times, however RC does notify you. Wait till you get onboard to book more than one, they know now of changes, but Daily Planner does NOT reflect till you get on the ship. And not all “ tickets” in your stateroom are excursions ready to go. You have to sign waivers before going on excursions( that are SEPERATE from ship waivers) that location is only open one hour a day. We’re on HOTS right now with Roatan tomorrow & just learned of changes.RC does not make ANY attempt to let you know of changes, does not kniw how to knock on your door or try to call your room if you “ missed” the encrypted wording to sign completely different waivers than ship waivers & pick up the “ tickets” that are not the “tickets” provided to you in your stateroom. * edited again since home now & you can tell tell how mad we were at missing second excursion because of NO communication from RC. Oh ya, 30 min before embarkation to Roatan. The port was CANCELLED. Bummer. Any pre paid RC sponsored excursions we got our money credit back to our credit card....well NOT all my money...found RC “missed” giving me my $ back, so had to stand inline to get that $ back. Was GLAD i did not get $ back as ship credit, since we were nickle & dimed to death from RC. They were great with communication for buying another cruise, but nothing about communication for changes of ANY existing prepaid excursion. Internet was completely down 2 of 8 days, spotty up & down the rest of trip so do NOT rely on internet updates/ what you print. ** print your excursion times out off from daily planner, so you personally have times & proof you paid for EVERYTHING you bought. From arcade cards to meal times, print every day out before you go, and toss as you go thru the day.
  8. We are looking for things that we can do within walking distance from the ship for our upcoming cruise on Rhapsody of the Seas. We're visiting Cozumel, Belize, Costa Maya, and Roatan. In Cozumel, can you walk (safely) from the ship to the "downtown" area? Are there any beaches within walking distance at any of our ports? I know there's the pool area in Costa Maya, but I think we'd just stay on the ship to have pool time. We've been to these ports once before, but this time decided to go for the 7 night cruise and not do any excursions vs. the 4 night with excursions. Our daughters are older (11, 13, and 15), so if anyone has any good no or very low cost ideas, we'd appreciate it! We'd be okay staying on the ship and enjoying the pool and food. Any other thoughts or ideas?
  9. We signed up for RCCl Maya Key Private Island Retreat excursion in Roatan. Is that the same as Little French Key that had the fire? I am looking for a beautiful restful beach with nice water, maybe a bit of a wave . Should I cancel that and rebook or no? Any opinions?
  10. We are taking Liberty OTS May 20-27 with stops in Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel. I'd like to go snorkeling in Roatan (I've heard Tabyana is great for that) and would rather avoid paying RC's inflated prices for their excursions (unless it's the only option). Has anyone gone snorkeling there without pre-planning an excursion? Or am I better off just overpaying RC or go with a 3rd-party? Suggestions? Thanks!
  11. We are travelling on Liberty of the Seas this November. My family of 6 includes my teenaged son who uses a wheelchair. We're looking for recommendations on affordable excursions in Costa Maya, Cozumel and Roatan that are kid, young-adult friendly & wheelchair accessible. We don't mind skipping a formal tour and taking a taxi to a destination, but we are not sure if there are wheelchair accessible taxis in the 3 ports. Does anyone have experience with the beaches, excursions, or self-tours? Thanks, Diane
  12. My wife and I are going on a cruise in April on Liberty to Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel and we are looking for one or two affordable beach days at any port. If other things are included too, that's great, but we are really just looking to relax on a quality beach and enjoy some good food and cocktails. The excursion we have our eye on right now is the Parrot Tree Beach Resort in Roatan. It is currently priced at $44 and does not include food or drinks although they are offered at an extra charge (It doesn't say how much). Does anyone have any other suggestions for any of these ports? I'm open to anything, even if it is more expensive, as long as the value is there. After all, how often are we on a tropical island?
  13. Hello, I have a new tattoo parlor in Roatan Honduras and I've been trying to find out how to advertise with Royal Caribbean? Can anyone point me in the right direction please?? THANK YOU!
