  1. Is it just me or have drink packages sky rocketed? I couldn’t believe that the retail price for the Refreshment package is $40 USD /day for my upcoming Harmony cruise next March. Even with discount promotions of 30% off it brings it to to retail price that it used to be. Crazy price for Americano and bottled water!
  2. Hello Everyone, I have recently been looking into the various Credit Card / OBC / Stocks / Casino Rewards (other?) options offered by Royal / Celebrity. What is the most useful option or combination of programs to earn discounts/ credits / and the illusive 'Free Cruise'? May your ship lead you to warm sands, TwoCanSailAway
  3. Is it just me, or are the 2021 Eurpean cruises much more expensive than previous years? Harmony in June is starting at 1600 euro for interior room. I honestly think that won't be affordable, save for the select few.
  4. I have two cruises the summer of 2020 (one on Harmony and one on Oasis) and just noticed a pretty significant price increase on the Deluxe Beverage Package. A couple weeks ago it had 20% off with the price of $56 and now it is 20% off with a price of $65 ?. Price increases are always expected but wow! Are other people seeing an increase in their package prices? #StillLoyalToRoyal #StillGoingToPurchaseLOL
  5. I know there is always talk about watching the online cruise planner for sales and price changes on the Ultimate drink package... and I have seen the price for that fluctuate from $46 to $56 pp/pd for my upcoming Harmony cruise. BUT, I have also been watching specialty dining options... mainly a single night at Chops or the Chops +1 package. Those prices have been the same for as long as I can remember. (49.99 and 74.99) Has anyone ever seen them go down?? Thanks
  6. Hello All. RCCL, in all it's wonderful glory, has removed our scheduled shore excursions from the CP offerings. As has been a hot topic several times in the last few weeks, I suspect that the current CP sale possibly may have them at a lower cost but doesn't want me to cancel and rebook at the new lower price (although, I did purchase most of our excursion on the BF Sale, so they needn't worry, but I digress). So, I'm wondering if any of you Alaska cruisers could shoot me the price of these excursions, that is if you're seeing them in your CP: Fly-out Fly Fishing in Juneau, Icy Strait Point Stream Fishing in ISP, and Knudson Cove Salmon Fishing in Ketchikan. Many thanks! aisle=grocery isle=RCCL
  7. Hi There, I recently came across your blog and forum and am really happy with all the information and tips provided. I will be taking a 4 day Bahamas cruise at the end of May 2018 on Enchantment of the seas. I will be travelling with my partner (who will be a first time cruiser) and my parents. My parents and I have cruised before and are looking forward to it. My parents booked the trip via a travel agency called Avoya travel. I have heard everywhere that travel agencies are the best way to go, but i was on the Royal Caribbean website the other day and it seems the price i got was a lot cheaper than the price we paid via the travel agencies. so i have a few questions What Agencies would do you like to use when booking your cruise vacation and is anyone familiar with avoya is it still possible to cancel the cruise through the agency and try to look for a better price somewhere else ( this probably depends on the agency itself; but until when are you still able to cancel a royal Caribbean booking free of charge) is it common to switch travel agencies if you encounter a better price. I've heard on the podcast that travel agencies are supposed to keep an eye out for better deals that might come along, but i just have this weird inkling that isn't happening I know a golden rule is to book as early as possible and i don't want to cancel one cruise and suddenly find out that there's no more opportunity to book. However, any money we can save would be very helpful.
  8. Have booked a cruise for early 2018 and notice that RCL want to charge me USD$69/day for the ultimate drinks package. This is up from the price of around USD$55/day we paid on a cruise earlier this year. Has anyone heard about changes to the pricing of the drinks packages for 2018 ?
  9. Yesterday i bought a cruise and paid only first price. When and how i should pay the rest of the price for the cruise? I booked and paid myself online in "royal caribbean" website. And can't find any option for payment. What should i do? The cruise in only next year, so still have some time. Thank you :)
  10. I have been researching my future cruise and have come across some REALLY interesting information that is otherwise hidden. I am an American that has been living in the UK for the last 15 years. I am retired US Navy as well. I have been sailing on Royal Caribbean for some time and have acquired the C&A level of Emerald. Through my time in the UK I have noticed a lot of the “perks†that I was used to being American or a service member were non-existent. Here is just another one: I stumbled across the US version of the Royal Caribbean web site so I decided to do some research. I looked for a cruise as far out as I could find, Southern Caribbean for 2 people. The result was 13 April, 2018, 9 nights Southern Caribbean cruise on Navigator of the seas in a Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony (D3 #6546). I went through the entire booking process up to the check-out page and stopped. I stored this information. I next went to the Royal Caribbean International web site and did the same from there. I selected the exact same cruise and cabin with the only exception being that I applied my C&A discount to this booking. I once again went as far as the check-out page and stopped. I once again stored this information. My results: Royal Caribbean International gave me a price of GBP£ 2,448.00 after applying the C&A discount (which amounted to only about 3-4%). At current exchange rates, that makes this cruise in the region of USD$ 3,200.00. The result of the US site search gave me a price of USD$ 2,376.00. Am I missing something here? Am I paying extra because I live in the UK? I have to add airfare to this as well which can cost almost that much again. Royal Caribbean International doesn’t honour any military discounts either. For the UK customers of Royal Caribbean International, beware of this price difference and discuss it with your TA, or whoever might help to get around it. This can’t be right.
  11. I know that for many of you, this is preaching to the choir. Many of us on here are already pretty saavy. Mr. Hochberg attracts only the top talent! ;) However, maybe there's something in my ramblings that will help the newbies. When I have these epiphanies, I just have to get them out of my head. What better place than here, with other Royal fanatics!? ***************************************************************************************************** It's amazing how much prices fluctuate from one day to the next! You can spend A LOT more for the same cruise simply by booking/re-booking today versus waiting for tomorrow, or next week. Just remember, before the penalty dates arrive, you can change your bookings as often as you please. Do it! You'll save big! I've been a big proponent of the Ship Mate app's price alerts ever since I learned about it on here. (Was it DocLC who told me about it?) I then took it one step further and went to the website that supports the Ship Mate app - cruiseline.com. They are not a travel booking site/travel agent. You can, and should, still use your own TA, as you see fit, but please sign up for the alerts on cruiseline.com. There's no cost. It's a completely free service, you're not obligated in any way, and I am in no way affiliated with them. You'll get emails, like the one I've attached, based on your selections. Gmail - Cruise Price Alert_ $419, Enchantment of the Seas, February 08, 2016 (up 17%).pdf You can choose your ship, your itinerary, your dates, and even your cabin type, and it will alert you whether the price goes up or down from the date you first began watching. We saved $94 on our Enchantment cruise in February 2016 (I know others on these boards have saved even more!). We're also monitoring our Navigator cruise in April 2017 - nothing has beaten the price we got so far, but if it does, we'll know instantly! We'll have enough time to take advantage of the price drop. We can use that money for excursions, booze, specialty dining, or other fun stuff! I don't mean to make this a big plug for the website or the app. I just want to stress the importance of due diligence. Staying on top of things can save you quite a bit of money. Understanding the strategies employed by the cruiselines will make you saavy enough to not overpay. They know when the average person is shopping for their vacation, and they raise the prices during those times. For instance, you'll almost always pay less on a Tuesday during the day than you will on a Friday night or weekend day. They know that's when you have the time set aside to shop, so they jack up the price. By having a price alert system in place, like cruiseline.com's, it won't matter what the cruiseline does - you'll be alerted and you'll be able to take advantage of the drop. Also remember what Matt has talked about as regards the so-called "sales" that Royal has. They're not usually sales at all! They're promotions. Price alerts allow you to no longer pay any attention to the advertsing. If it's a good deal, the alert will tell you. If you have a few minutes, read and listen to Jackie Laulainen's advice on getting the best airfare. You'll be able to apply the strategies to booking cruises as well as other travel plans. Article: http://thebudgetmindedtraveler.com/strategies-for-finding-cheap-flights/ Podcast: http://thebudgetmindedtraveler.com/best-deals-on-flights/ There's just so much information out there and so many tools that if you're paying top dollar for cruising, you're just really not paying attention and you're doing yourself a disservice. That's one big reason why everything Matt does is so important. He really is helping to make cruising better for his "friends." Cruiseline.com is just another tool in the box. Hope my ramblings help someone, if even just one person.
  12. We are currently booked on the Navigator for 10/18/15 for a great cruise. I originally wanted to book the Getaway but the price was to high. We ended up booking on the Navigator for $724pp and with a $200 obc. Well, now NCL has made a balcony guarantee rate for $799 with a choice of either obc, free up scale dinning, or free ultimate beverage package. Needless to say I am strongly considering the move and our agent has held a cabin for us to decide. I am just looking for some feedback if anyone has any to offer. Thanks!
  13. Was wondering your alls experience with royals spa treatments and when you find is the best time to snatch up a spa treatment. Weither it be a masage or acupuncture or whatever the case may be. When before, during or towards the end of the cruise to find the best deals available for whatever spa treatment you want. Thinking about getting something special for my wife when we cruise next month and want the best deal for it.
