  1. According to this, the former Splendour of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas are up for sale by their current owners. https://www.cruisemummy.co.uk/cruise-ships-for-sale/?fbclid=IwAR2NcFWAuodOzc3O2ibs2XchsggZ7W85EbhF34vyumWj4ZTUX6-X-igbTHA
  2. I am on the June 10 sailing, and I was playing around with the app. It says the Casino is smoke free. I am almost certain this is wrong (WHAAAAAAAT, something on the new app is wrong???). Has anyone been on her lately that can confirm or deny this?
  3. As I complete the "live" blog of my recent Christmas cruise on the Majesty at a glacial pace, there's something I really need to talk with other cruisers about. Let me start by saying that I am FAR from a pizza snob. While I've enjoyed some excellent pizza in my time, and I frequently make my own cast iron pan pizzas from scratch, I still appreciate a slice from a national chain, the mall, Cici's or even Digiorno's and Red Barron. I was a firm believer that there's no such thing as bad pizza. Just good pizza and better pizza. I was wrong. Sorrento's is bad pizza. What in gods name do they DO to it? They appear to be using pre-made crusts with a normal-looking sauce and shredded mozzarella. The toppings are kinda skimpy, but that's not a big deal. The problem is that it's got a texture I can only describe as gluey as all hell. Like Elmer's school glue. The crust crisps up reasonably well on the bottom and edges, the cheese browns on the top, but there's something going terribly wrong at the crust-sauce-cheese interface. The entire mass stuck to the roofs of our mouths and left an unpleasant film on our teeth and tongues. I tried multiple different kinds across different days to see if it was just a particular variety to rule out a bad batch, strange customized recipe or something that's been sitting out too long. It was consistently gluey and terrible. An especially well-done pie, fresh out of the oven was only marginally better. It was still noticeably gluey. Soggy elementary school cafeteria pizza is superior to this. I'm just baffled how the pizza can miss the mark so much. Are they using artificial cheese or some peculiar ingredient? Pizza isn't a complex food and doesn't require any ingredients they don't already carry for their otherwise excellent bakery and galley operations. How can it possibly be this bad?
  4. I'm cruising with my 8 month old son, husband, mother in law and my husband's adult cousin on the Majesty of the Seas January 19th. I'd love to hear any tips or tricks to cruising with an infant. We already ordered the crib for our room, have a carrier for him and a small umbrella stroller. What other suggestions do you have for us? Specifically wondering about baby food (he's breastfed and eats purees and some finger foods now) and other helpful hints. Thanks in advance!
  5. I normally start this sooner and on a different tone. But staying a few nights prior in Tampa got in my way (in a good way). Booked itinerary is as follows: Tampa, Sea day, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Sea day, finally back in Tampa. However I'm not sure if my new friend Gordon will change those plans. For these that are new to reading my LIVEish. Check out my previous one to get an idea of what fine quality work I produce: LIVEish, 7 Days on Harmony (05/12/2018 or 12/05/2018 add to the mix May 12, 2018) For the record yes, I'm slacking. Still at the hotel debating when to leave for the port.
  6. I can't believe it's nearly here, but we will be heading out on Majesty of the Seas out of Port Canaveral tomorrow for a 4-night trip to Nassau, Coco Cay and back; spending Christmas Day at sea! I have the VOOM package, so I'll try to live-blog as much as I can without getting yelled at, but I may have to keep it quick and fill in more details from home . . . So, a little background on how this trip came to be might be in order. If you've seen Christmas with the Kranks, we're basically living the set-up to the movie. My other half's mother (I'm calling her MIL from this point forward, not technically accurate yet, but let's roll with it) throws a huuuuuuuuge Christmas Eve party in upstate New York. We live near Orlando and went up last Christmas. We spent a few days before in NYC, it was my first time in the city and AWESOME, then took the train to his parents on Christmas-Eve-Eve. MIL was up into the wee hours making cookies and snacks and all sorts of stuff for the big party. She slept all of maybe 3 hours, got up at 7am, made breakfast for everybody and then went right back to party prep. I played Sous Chef and helped her with all the prep work for the rest of the day until people started showing up for the party. People came and went, everyone had a wonderful time, cleaned up the bulk of the mess and we all turned in for bed around two or three in the morning. Up again at 7am, MIL made breakfast for everybody (again) and on her way to pour herself a cup of coffee, promptly collapsed on the floor. We all rushed over to her, called 911 and started to assess what happened (I strongly recommend that everyone take the Red Cross first aid and CPR training, it could save a loved one's life). She was conscious, but dazed and disoriented and weak. The paramedics came to take MIL to the ER, FIL rode along in the ambulance. I followed in one of their cars w/ Other Half. So we spent Christmas Day in the ER, and the next few days back and forth between the hospital. Long story short, MIL is fine but also the proud owner of a brand new pacemaker and we decided that we would be removing her from any sort of Christmas exhaustion, by force if necessary. And we could think of no better way to forcibly remove her from throwing Christmas parties than a cruise to the Bahamas. MIL & FIL arrived a few days ago, and we'll finish packing up tonight and heading down to the port tomorrow morning!
  7. A friend had his Majesty of the Seas sailings cancelled and now if you go to RC's website, there are no Majesty sailings beyond May 2018. Interpret away!
  8. Everyone's always talking about Oasis this, and Harmony that, and while those are fabulous ships... I think Majesty needs some love. She's been around the block a few times, she's not the biggest or newest, but she's amazingly special. I had such a great time on the 4-night Bahamas cruise back in February, got me thinking: What's your favorite thing about Majesty of the Seas? For me, it was that feeling of nostalgia, taking me back to what it was like cruising with my family in the late 90's. My first cruise was on Celebrity's Horizon, but with Royal Caribbean was on Legend in 1997; Majesty reminded me of that time period. It didn't feel dated or old; the ship still felt relevant just not bursting at the seams with technology. It let me focus on relaxing, and the overall cruise experience more so than inundating me with tons of activities and things to try. The crew were so warm and welcoming, it didn't even feel like a big cruise ship. I felt like I was a guest in the crew's home and they were thrilled to have me staying with them for a few days.
  9. Hi all Had a look at the Cruise Compass section and can't see one so thought I'd ask here if anyone has a recent copy. Thanks Laura
  10. Hi everyone! Going on the Majesty in just 4 days, and super excited to do so! I'm introducing my friend Mark to the wonderful world of cruising, and how better to do so than a Junior Suite on Majesty's 4 night Bahamas itinerary!! I'll be posting pictures and updates over on my blog, www.johnbamber.com/blog I'll be on Anthem in June and Oasis in August, so I'll be posting about those cruises as those dates get closer, but please feel free to check out my blogs and enjoy the content! Thanks again! John @iamjohnbamber
  11. I have 2 questions. 1. I am scheduled to be on a cruise leaving Port Canaveral on Monday on the Majesty of the Seas and going to the Bahamas. It looks like Hurricane Matthew will effect the cruise is some way. How will I now if anything changes with the itinerary or if the cruise will be canceled? 2. Is there a refund or the cost of this cruise toward another if it is canceled?
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ0zW-f91n8 In this video you'll see the entertainment offered on board, a look around the cruise ship, a peak that each island has to offer, and some excursions. Let me know if you have any questions about the Majesty of the Seas! I'm happy to help and would give it a 10/10.
  13. Hi y'all! We are going on the Majesty in December and I was hoping someone had a recent cruise compass. I would love to have even an inkling of our choices so I can plan. Very excited for our first cruise!!! :)
