  1. Hello there! Thanks for taking the time to click on this thread. My wife and I are going on the 14th of May 2023 trip and had a few questions regarding shore excursions. I am a second time cruiser but last time was back in 2011 or so on the Liberty of the Seas. Same itinerary different ship. Among the things Ive learned from the first trip, is the fact that the prices of shore excursions you book from the ship are way more expensive than if you book from a 3rd party provider. The port stops that are scheduled are: Palma de Mallorca, Spain Provence (Marseille), France Florence/Pisa (La Spezia), Italy Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy Naples, Italy Can anyone recommend a tour operator or activities we can do on a budget? All your input will be very much appreciated.
  2. Hey Anyone know when we can expect health and safety protocols for 2022 sailings departing from Europe.? Any hope we can drop using masks on cruises this summer, as many european country`s now are startin lift all/ ease covid restrictions.?
  3. A brand new excursion package showed up on my cruise planner this morning, presumably created specially in response to the requirement that all guests, vaccinated or not, can only go ashore in Italy on a ship-sponsored excursion. The new package is priced at $199 for adults and $194 for children and includes three excursions, one in each of the Italian ports of call. The excursions are: Pisa City Sights (duration 4 and a half hours), priced individually at $99; Rome City Sights (duration 5 hours), priced individually at $119; and Naples City Sights (duration 3 hours), priced individually at $59.75 for adults and $49.75 for children. They all include some sightseeing from some form of transport (coach/trolley car/river boat), some walk-abouts and some snack/shopping stops.
  4. I am booked on a 12 night cruise out of Barcelona which includes several stops in Italy and 3 other countries. It seems that other cruise lines have suspended sailing until later in the year and hopefully Royal does the same soon. Besides any health concerns, I am afraid that several stops may be cancelled and that we would have either additional sea days or a shortened cruise. Any thoughts on if and when Royal will might cancel this cruise? Thanks!
  5. Is it just me, or are the 2021 Eurpean cruises much more expensive than previous years? Harmony in June is starting at 1600 euro for interior room. I honestly think that won't be affordable, save for the select few.
  6. When do you usually book your transatlantic flights for Europe cruises? Are there any advantages to waiting a bit? (obviously theres risk). What's the average price from the East Coast that people have paid?
  7. Hi, I am keen to book a European cruise in June/July of 2019, (any one know perhaps based on previous years) when does RC release mid year itineraries for Europe? Thanks for your support.
  8. So Celebrity announced today that their 2019 European itineraries are now available for purchase. Being the cruise newbie I am, I'm curious if this is their normal time of year to do this or if this is an outlier due to the debut of Edge in their lineup. I know being sister companies with Royal doesn't automatically mean that they would or necessarily should align their itinerary announcements, but it does seem an odd time to announce these, as opposed to March/April, when Royal typically releases their European and all other itineraries. Does this mean that 2019 Caribbean sailing will come soon for Celebrity, and then the more exotic destinations?
  9. Hi all... Although I know its not set in stone and factors at sea can change the plan... but has anyone been on the 12 Night Mediterranean/Greek Islands cruise out of Barcelona on Brilliance of the Seas this season that can share which three nights were the formal nights. Would like to make specialty dining reservations without having to switch it later on. Thanks in advance.
  10. I've been a loyal user of Kayak when shopping for and booking my cruise air and I was just able to grab a $2 round trip fare for our Serenade cruise in Europe next year. It's still several hundred dollars with taxes, but I haven't paid this low of a fare to Europe in 10 years. Super excited by the fare, which is $400 less per person than this past summer. If you haven't tried Kayak, it's worth a try. Note, though that some airlines (e.g., Southwest) are not included.
  11. Just noticed that in the Cruise Planner, all beverage packages have the gratuities built in to the price of the package rather than added on separately. Royal Refreshment - $8 Royal Replenish - $22 Select - $42 Water - $47 Premium - $57 Ultimate - $67 All the above are in USD. Just thought I'd share.
  12. I am going on the 12 night Mediterranean cruise in May and I noticed that many of the ports are not in the destination city (including Rome, Athens, and Ephesus for example). The Royal Caribbean website only says there is a nominal fee charged for a courtesy shuttle to and from the port and destination city, but I cannot find an example of the cost anywhere? Has anyone done the Mediterrean cruise? Do you remember about how much it cost for the shuttle? I know it will probably vary from port to port, but I don't know whether I am looking at like $10 or like $50 per person and I am trying to narrow it down somewhat. Thanks in advance!! :D
