  1. Just wondering how it works with having drinks preloaded on your sea pass card. Got this unexpectedly on my cruise a few months agof, but the one drink I got, I still got charged for. Is there something you have to do to activate or use it?

Also, is it just like a grand suite and above thing, or is it tied into C&A benefits at all?

  2. You're right, it does always work out about the same. Started booking a b2b on rhapsody in December, then my boss piped up and said there's no way I'd get that time off approved. Of course, she waited til I already had the first leg reserved. So, annoyed and my bubble burst, I impetuously just cancelled the booking...

I would say last time I juggle work and cruise planning, but I know that won't last.

  3. I'm looking to book another cruise for the end of this year, and wondering if I should book now or on board next week. The only benefits I ever see to booking onboard are the decreased deposit and the extra onboard spending credit. On the flip side, the current 30% sale ends before next week, and I have no idea if they'll extend it, or what's up next. Not even sure which itinerary to do, but looked at several, and rooms are already starting to disappear. Anyone ever see other perks or discounts with the on board booking, or should I just do it now?

  4. I find it a little hard to believe, especially with Grandeur, considering all the work that's been done to satisfy the environmental regulations for being in the Chesapeake..... plus, with the new multi-year agreement with Maryland and the City of Baltimore, what next?  Enchantment?  Vision?

Or will a Radiance Class ship actually fit under the bridges?

    I guess we'll see.

I wonder if maybe they're planning on sending Enchantment up there. Give em a little more capacity up there and maybe a better return on that investment, and with the big plans they have for Miami, it'll clear some room for the shuffling to come down there.

  5. One thing I will add which you may or may not have read is the double points for travelling solo or extra points when booking a suite. Just a cpl quicker ways to work your way up.

If you do this, pay attention when your points are posted. My last three cruises I've had to email RC because they shorted me the bonus solo or suite points. They were great about it and fixed it right away each time, but just something to keep in mind.

  6. I am surprised to hear they are only building mega ships. I would like to see some new mid-size announced. I think that they are going to overbuild and will have more than demand requires. But not so far I guess.

I think you're right. At some point they're gonna overdo it, and end up with a fleet of massive, expensive boats that can't turn a profit because they can't keep em full.

I'd actually like to see a return of the smaller boats. Maybe a new generation of Sovereigns...

    5. Passangers come to find Tampa as a preferred port to sail from. The people are nice. Not nearly the traffic as other Florida ports. And it's new and clean!

Need more (and year-round) sailings out of Tampa!

Also heard rumors about them building a new terminal somewhere outside the skyway, so could accommodate some of the bigger boats, but apparently was just a vague idea without real intent.

  8. You could probably book a random cruise while on board, and when the May 2018 itineraries are announced change your booking to the cruise you want.

This is a great option for when you don't yet know the details of your next cruise. It's very flexible, so if life interferes with your cruising plans, you can change your date or your ship whenever and as many times as necessary (up to your final payment date). They also never expire, so even if that next cruise is years away, you'll have it waiting for you when you're ready. I just about always have one in the bank, just in case. Only downside is if they're doing some promo bonus for booking on board, it often excludes this. Just ask your on board booking agent about doing an "open" or "open-ended" booking.

  9. Empress is an outlier (112-155 sq. ft.) -- but suites are the only option with a balcony on Empress and the JS are often priced much less than a typical JS (a good way to climb the C&A ladder).

I actually got an owner's suite on Empress for about the same as what I'd pay for a junior on the newer boats. The room's about the same size or maybe a little bit smaller, but the balcony was about 4 times bigger.
