On a side note, in 2016 I sailed Oasis and the souvenir cup came with the deluxe drink package.  I never used the cup, all of my drinks were from a bar.

The cup has a chip embedded in the base which is how it works in the self serve soda and flavored water machines.

Recently on Grandeur I opted out of the drink package but brought my 2016 Oasis cup with me.  It worked!

I guess they don't track the RFID of each cup and which ship a particular cup is distributed onto, as long as one has never been used, it seems to be accepted.

    YMMV

I got 3 or 4 of them still wrapped in plastic in the closet, I may have to try that next time.

Good thought. We will check email once or twice during the week. But honestly, my workaholic hubby needs to be incommunicado for all but the most dire of emergencies ? no worky-worky! Lol!! Can I get an amen?

    Dina ?

My phone gets turned off and put in the safe as soon as we pass the sea buoy until the morning we return.

  3. Usually on your boarding pass it will say what level you are.  If you signed up and this is your first cruise you won't have a color.  After you will be gold and you will have your own line.  But you never know, my first cruise we got there late and no one was in any line...  After that its been gold, platinum, emerald and soon to be diamond...

Pretty much this.  I was on an aircraft carrier so it was prettt stable except for very rough seas.  I'm curious how the harmony will be.  I don't remember what ship I was on with carnival but I remember the ride being pretty similar to the carrier.  My boyfriend on the other hand was on a destroyer so that thing gets tossed around a lot more in the waves.

The bed is a lot different, that's for sure. The cruise ships get to fill their ships with fun stuff where as the rest of my ship was full of jets and work spaces.

I know what you mean, I was on a destroyer tender from the 40's, filled with machines and various shops to work.  Also top heavy with two cranes and boats, if we took a 20 degree roll we would have kept going.  Unless you hit some bad water, harmony will be fine.  Might get some old feeling in your sea legs.

    Hi Everyone!

I'm Kerri and I'm currently living in Cincinnati, OH.  I say currently because I've moved every 2-3 years for the last 11 years.  I have 2 dog children, a frenchie and a great dane.  We are sailing on the Harmony November 4th.  I went on a carnival cruise when I was 17 on a school trip but I haven't been on one since.  I talked my boyfriend into going this year and we are really excited, he has never been on a vacation cruise (we were both in the Navy but obviously that is much different).  I've been stalking these boards for awhile since I am an over planner and I feel like I need all the information for all the things! LOL  I look forward to getting to know some of the people on this board.  I plan on taking quite a few more cruises in the future.

Welcome, best part of these cruises is you don't have to work 6 1/2 days a week, stand watches, listen for reveille or pull lines...  Oh, and the chow line is shorter and you only muster once.

This will be my first cruise as an adult (second overall) and my SOs first ever. I'll admit I'm a super-planner and like to be over prepared. The SO... not so much lol. Chilling out and going with the flow will be my ultimate challenge this trip!

That is just what you have to do.   There are days I don't even look at the cruise compass, just sit in the solarium and try to hurt the drink package (yeah, I've done it a few times).  We've been on cruises where we didn't even get off the boat.  Make sure you find your way to the Viking Crown lounge, its quiet and has a good view of the pool deck and around the sides of the boat, if they don't kick you out for the diamond party.

  7. I think doc covered it pretty good. Enchantment is an older girl but still if pretty good shape.  She is one of the smallest.  You didn't say if this was your first on Royal, look for the Quest around the last night in the compass.  Its a nice way to end the cruise.  I enjoyed the Schooner Bar on EOS (sort of a piano bar), has nice windows looking over the water. Just remember you're on vacation.  Don't stress or try to do everything.
