Behind the scenes tour- Is it worth the $
Floski replied to MarcMcD's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Thursday, the day my TA gets back to me and says she called and RC says that Oasis doesn't have that activity, it shows up on the website. Seriously?? It's $119, so I think I'm going to hold off until BF and see if any good discounts show up. I really can't understand just how jumbled up RC is WRT their own people on the phones, the website, and the TA. -
We've gone up twice, both times via a taxi that we picked up near Havensight, where they all gather down near Veteran's Drive. Our driver last year Timothy (pictured above), was fantastic as was the guy the year before. It was like $20 ea. Timothy took us all over, from Drake's Seat to Magan's Bay, to some other cool places. I freaking love St. Thomas.

Yes - fantastic views, looks directly over Magan's Bay. Treat yourself to a lovely banana daiquiri. We've never been there long enough to hang out and billy up to the bar. Lots of stuff to buy.

I definitely agree with checking some prices before you go. I was a little disappointed when I found out that a lot of what I brought home last year wasn't quite as great a deal as I thought, although Craig is spot on when he points out that most of what you find will be the larger 1liter bottles, so better ounce to ounce. I brought this home last year, and was never questioned when we went through customs (using a porter is the way to go). Still have plenty if any of y'all wanna come over for a drinkie.

Behind the scenes tour- Is it worth the $

I've asked my TA to check on it for me; she should have me an answer this evening. It does seem like $99 is a good price. -

Still can't find it. Maybe my Oasis trip doesn't have it? They make it so freaking hard sometimes. -

I just looked thoroughly (I'm pretty sure) through my cruise planner and it isn't anywhere. Oasis in Jan -

That's a great kid, right there. You should keep her!! ;-)

Well, looky who decided to show up... Congrats on your nuptials, Kayla!!! Very happy for you both. I hope y'all had a great cruise(s).
-
Well, both, actually, but mostly your and JL's hatred of IPAs! You should try some of the New England styles, which aren't quite as bitter and off-putting. RC's beer list is pretty much awful to a craft fan. Someday I hope to make it to the San Diego area and tour some breweries.

Well, first off, those aren't stupid questions. You didn't already know the answers, so how could they be? I'll try my hand, but the smart veterans will be able to help you better... 1) I'm pretty sure you keep the same DR, but if you were to ask for other arrangements, I'm sure you will be taken care of. 2) Technically, I'd say no, but the staff is very accommodating and I'm sure will do all they can. C) I believe so. 4) I haven't done MTD yet, so not sure. AFAIK, all of the MDRs are essentially the same thing, only on different floors for space-saving purposes. So I'm not sure what the benefit would be to changing, especially every night. One of the enjoyable parts of our cruises is to get to know the wait staff during the duration of our cruise; they learn your likes and dislikes and are great at making you comfortable. Now, I've never been on an Ovation class ship, but I would assume the premise is the same for all of the ships. d

Well, despite my beeching and moaning about it, I opted for the package for the wife and me. I hate that they have done this, but once I broke it down and weighed the issues, I decided to pay now instead of at the end of my cruise. This still doesn't mean I'm going to participate in the belly flop, regardless of how many drinks I've had.
-
For our Oasis cruise in January, with the discounted drink package at $46/pp: $760 total for two pax inc. gratuities - $380 each person - $54.28 per day per person - 4.5 drinks per day to break even, assuming drinks are $12 This is not considering the specialty coffees and fresh-squeezed juices, etc. And although I was miffed and poo-pooed the move, I may go ahead and do it. Still not happy, but I certainly don't want to keep eyeballing my tab every night.

Royal Caribbean has a lack of emapthy for hurricane victims
Floski replied to orcien's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
That really sucks. As stated above, I hope you have a helluva vacation (despite the corporate BS). -
Well, now that I won't be buying the package, which means they are out two packages, and I'll be buying my drinks as I go and therefore will be much more mindful of the $$ I'm spending, they actually will be losing out. If there was a decent discount for both of us, I might consider it. At least now I'll be able to share whatever drink I get with my wife and not feel like the po-po are watching and waiting.
-
I just checked to see what the prices are for my 1/21 Oasis cruise, and am pretty disappointed that the prices haven't dropped a bit. So, if I buy the package I have to get two, but the prices are still nice and high. My wife couldn't drink that much alcohol in a year, much less a week, and I'm sure it's that way for most folks. Regardless, I'm still gonna have a blast on my cruise, but this certainly dampens my expectations.
-
Well, screw 'em. Now I won't be purchasing the package, and will be all too cognizant of my purchases, thus enjoying my cruise less.
