Donating For Irma Victims Through RCCL
Floski replied to Floski's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Thanks, fellas! rjac - we did just fine, but pretty much every house on waterfront got it tough. You should visit again and we can enjoy a beverage. Matt - I hope you and all of the group have a wonderful cruise!! -

I know that there was a way to donate via the RC website, but when I looked last night, I couldn't find anywhere to do so. When I first open the home page, I see a link for a millisecond, and then it's gone. Is it too late to donate via RC? I'll hang up and listen

I got this info via my Ship Mate app... The Park N Cruise seemingly made it through Irma just fine, but just at the end of the weather, a tornado hit the facility, causing severe damage to many of the vehicles there, some of which are probably a total loss, and causing a complete shutdown of services.. From their post: Regardless of the fact that our business and facility is a complete loss, our families remained safe throughout the storm...And for that we are thankful beyond measure. I feel awful for this company, and truly hope they can rebuild and get their operation going again. eta: Just found their full message on FB:

I love Ste Maarten, and am just heartbroken at all of the devastation there. I'm hopeful that the cruise industry, especially the ones who port there, will pour money into her and all of the affected islands. I'm sure the US will, but I hope the entire world will help these poor souls out.

I'm praying that there will be a Cozumel left after this week. Same for the USVI, Puerto Rico, Ste Maarten, etc. GO AWAY, IRMA!

Awesome...to mediocre...to just plain bad

That's capitalism for ya - companies always use some "unforeseen tragedy" as their excuse to increase prices, but when that "crisis" subsides, prices don't return to normal. I think companies actually like the occasional recession so they can increase cost to the consumer and decrease the size of their product. -
Earliest Boarding and Initial Activities

Just what is the fascination and desire to hit up the Win-jamm-ehr when one first walks onboard? With all of the ridiculous sights and other eateries/drinkeries on board, I just can't understand the phenomenon. -
Main Dining Room and Drink Packages

One thing to remember is that the MDR wait staff, while glad and eager to get your adult beverages, aren't super fast, so you might want to grab one in a bar before you head to dinner. -

Couldn't agree more. The only thing on my mind Sunday morning (after making sure I have my passes and all that) is to GET ON THE SHIP! The sooner the better for me! -
Still LOLing at Kayla with the scrong PotC gifs all over the blog from Friday!!!

I love Sabor, but with the new changes, will probably do that for lunch one day. Giovanni's was definitely an option for me, but I think Matt has convinced me to try for 150 Central Park! Hell, it won't matter - I'll be on a luxury liner and loving life! I don't care if it's Sonic.
-
Just saw a FB post that said there has been a change to 1NDR - now you can only do Sabor or Giovanni's, or pay half price for any of the others. Can anyone confirm? I just bought it last week, so any chance I'll still be able to use any of the restaurants?
-
I'm still a relative newbie here, but this sure seems to hit home. Of all the policy changes and the like, I don't recall any of them being that much more beneficial to the cruiser. I know it is just smart business and all that blah blah, and they won't be cruising with any fewer empty cabins, but RC seems to have shifted their loyalty from their long-term customers who made them so successful to anyone who has money. All we need is another recession, and they'll realize that they shouldn't have alienated their core "fan base".

I sent in a pair of pants, and in return received a pair of capris. Same fabric and color, but I didn't get my pants back.

FWIW, I disagree completely with everything WAAAYTOOO said in the first reply to the OP. I'm not sure why, but I felt compelled to.

Oh man, I'd be furious. You got it off your chest here, now go spread your message. RC should be ashamed.

I'm not sure if I hate you or love you.

I think I read that the winjammehr on Oasis doesn't have an omelet station. I hope that's not true, cause big boy loves him a good ham/chz/shroom omelet!

I've been trying to do the logistics for our day in Coz in January...we are going to Nachi, but I think we might leave around 2 or 3 and head into town. I'd love to eat at this restaurant; do they have siesta? I'd hate to leave early and find that they're closed. I can't freaking wait to get there.

I was going to post this as well. We did Bernard's last year and they will take you all over, including the butterfly farm, an iguana farm-like place, Maho, Orient Beach, Marigot... The prior year, we just took a taxi to Orient Beach and spent most of the day there. If the weather is nice, that is a great place to relax!
