Royal Caribbean wonder of the sea
Starrynight0154 replied to Lin23's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Sorry to hear that, I don’t really know what to say. Sounds like a dispute over chairs? You’d need a lawyer at this point to explore your options. It’s part of the Bahamas and there’s no real law enforcement on the island. One of the downsides to cruising is all the grey areas legally, which jurisdiction it is, and who takes responsibility. Last time I went there I remember someone was drunk and causing a scene, they really need more security spread out. -
Be award when writing review for Royal Caribbean

MDR staff asked Ting for a 10/10 survey score at dinner. By the time he finished explaining why he couldn’t give that score, breakfast was starting to be served the next day. -

What's the scariest thing when you cruise?
Starrynight0154 replied to Matt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I think a medical emergency on a ship would be the worst, especially a heart attack or stroke because you’d need a higher level of care than a medical center onboard can provide. Loss/theft of passports and methods of payment are serious too. Personally the worst experiences I’ve had on vacation are severe weather at home. On one trip in 2017 while we were away there was a flood, and we returned home to find our furniture floating around. Recently on our Greek Isles cruise onboard Odyssey, hurricane Helene hit the Carolina’s. Significant damage in our area and we lost power for a few days, but fortunately when we came home everything was ok. -
We did a 9 night cruise on Odyssey in September and LOVED Coastal Kitchen. Service and food were outstanding. Some of the food is made in a separate kitchen just for Coastal Kitchen. I don’t think the menus were accurate in the app until we boarded the ship.

Oasis Class Ships Cannot Dock At San Juan

I just booked my first Celebrity cruise and I’m looking forward to seeing San Juan. Does this affect the Edge class ships too? -
‘Balance Due Phantom’ Strikes Again!
Starrynight0154 replied to BrianB's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Last year I got the balance due emails after paying for the cruise in full. Like everyone else it was due to a cruise planner cancellation, refund for Giovanni’s I think. I called and they reassured me everything was okay. I still paid the small balance due to be safe. They refunded it and it repeatedly caused another balance due. Did this several times before our cruise to make sure the entire cruise wasn’t canceled. It was annoying but I wouldn’t let the balance stay due, I personally wouldn’t trust that they won’t cancel the cruise. On the desktop homepage if you scroll to the bottom where it says “plan a cruiser>make a payment” it will have the page that you can check what’s due. -
‘Balance Due Phantom’ Strikes Again!

You think with the resources they use dealing with all the customer service calls regarding this issue, they’d be motivated to fix the glitch. It’s been happening for years with no end in sight. -
Seems like it would save RC money long term if they upgraded their software, instead of paying all these customer service reps to handle calls regarding IT issues every annual Black Friday sale. Last year my purchases showed pending on my credit card, disappeared, finally was charged 3 weeks later. Refunds took 2-3 months. I was really frustrated, but now if I book during the sale I’ll expect to wait and accept it unfortunately.

Yes, the price has gone up on the deluxe beverage package. It’s at the price where personally I’m not buying it anymore. Some ships offer the 10 drink package onboard, and others have a drink of the day for $11. I’ll probably take advantage of those offers next time I see them.

We were on this cruise and really enjoyed it, the itinerary, ship, everything. Weather was perfect. On the last sea day, we sat on our balcony as we passed through the Strait of Messina by Sicily, and later the Stromboli volcano which had steam rolling out the top. It was more scenic than I was expecting. Ephesus, Mykonos, Pompeii, Crete were our favorite. Don’t do a lot of international travel, so this is a trip my wife and I will remember the rest of our life’s as the best trip ever, we spent a week in Florence after the cruise and loved it. Already have a few pictures printed out and framed.

Odyssey deck 11 aft bad for movement?

I was on deck 11 near the aft elevator. No more movement compared to other areas of the ship. -

It’s very good. They shave it on your food in front of you at Mercato Centrale. White and black truffle. Sandwiches with truffle cream are also delicious. -

Disembarked the ship, and took a high speed train to Florence. At night it’s breathtaking! There’s a lot of nice looking restaurants but after walking around a few hours we decided to just get pizza with a beer, and head back to the hotel. Food has been great, it’s simple but so fresh, I’m liking anything with truffle. In the next few days we’re doing a food tour, tour through Tuscany countryside, seeing the Uffizi, David, and of course eating. -

Day 9 at sea, passing between Sicily and mainland Italy. Didn’t realize how scenic it was until now. Saw Mt Etna on Sicily off in the distance, it was far away but the outline was visible. Stromboli volcano was next to us and cool to see, steam was rolling out, can’t believe people live at the base of it. The buffet went all out with one last elaborate display of fruit, carvings, and a chocolate fondue fountain. -

Day 8, Crete Greece. Visited the Old Venetian Harbor in Chania. Again, perfect weather and only complaint is wish I could stay longer. It was lively during the day, I imagine at night it’s even more fun. -

70’s and no rain, really great weather. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to come in the fall, and seems to be working out well. -

Day 7, Mykonos Greece. After applying a generous amount of sunscreen and getting my pasty white skin look on, it’s off to the water taxi. Took the water taxi to the old town and explored. Stopped at a 600 year old bakery called Giora’s. Had a couple drinks by the water at Rhapsody Bar in Little Venice, sat there a longtime to enjoy the view. The sun was out and there was no clouds, so I was trying to find any shade possible. Great day, really like this island. Got back on the ship and soaked in the jacuzzi. -
