I took a cruise with a couple friends. Every evening when one of us was inside getting dressed for dinner the other two sat on on the balcony and had a glass of wine before dinner. Strangely, we used the balcony more than I normally do with my family.

I’ve sailed out of Galveston 6 times since 2017 and found the Island very easy to navigate (but we drive - though I did pick up a friend at Hobby for our cruise last spring). I do like to stay near the port the night before versus someplace closer to Houston.

We have Verizon- but my husband’s work phone is ATT. All worked well in Mexico. -

Rooms near stairs and/or elevators — Yay or Nay?

I like being near the stairs/elevator. I’ve never had a problem with the noise. Even near the midship stairs on Adventure OTS. -
Galveston pre cruise hotel?

We normally stay in Hilton properties. One thing I realized on our DCL cruise earlier this month is no matter what, we end up having to buy forgotten items the morning of the cruise. This time we stayed at a neat Bed and Breakfast in the Strand area. Ended up driving to the Walmart on the sea wall. I regretted not just staying at the Hampton inn across from Walmart.
