  1. I always bring the official ones with the official watermark so there is no question. Texas uses watermarks, some states used raised seals, so whatever the issuing state uses, Royal accepts. Royal typically does not accept unofficial copies.
  2. Perfect then. I mis-understood your situation, it was a little confusing for me to follow, sorry. I understand though because my wife did not change her last name either. I would bring their birth certificates just in case they ask about "mom". Chances are they will not, but if they do ask you will be happy you had them. I have only been stopped once and asked to produce supporting documents for my kids at the port, and was glad I had them. I hope you all have a wonderful trip!
  3. Was going through my travel documents looking for something else, but found this section about "Family Legal Documents". I looked back on travel documents from previous sailings and it looks like it has been in there for at least the past few years.
  4. I always bring passports and birth certificates (even for myself, just in case my passport gets stollen). I have 3 copies of birth certificates, one that we travel with, one that is locked up at home, and one in a safety deposit box. It is easy enough to get copies of birth certificates, I don't know why you would not bring them. As far as the kids go, you really need permission from their mother unless you have court documents showing he is sole custodian or she is deceased.
  5. I found out the hard way that the door to the 2 bedroom grand suite on Allure was made of wood and not metal. I had a bunch of Happy Birthday magnets made for my daughter and could not use them on the door. Just had to hang them on the walls inside the suite.
  6. It depends on who is working when you check in. I always have a notarized form giving me permission to take the kids out of the country from their mother and I also bring my divorce documents to link all the names and such, even though they are "my" kids and have my last name. I have only ever been asked for these documents once, and I was glad I had all of them with me. I suspect the mother's name (my ex-wife) on their birth certificates not matching my wife's name is what triggered the stop. Like I said above, follow the US State Department's guidelines as well as Royal's.
  7. I always follow the US State Department's requirements. You really should have consent from both parents, and single parents should have consent from the child's other parent as well. Even children whose parents are married, but only one parent is traveling should have written consent from the other parent. If you have sole custody or one parent is dead, you should bring documentation supporting that. International travel documents for children | USAGov
  8. The last movie my company was involved in with the Rock did not end well for most characters in the movie. Just saying... LOL
  9. We stayed in a 2 Bedroom Grand Suite on Allure this past January. 2 separate bedrooms, each with their own doors for privacy and a shared common living area. Master bedroom had a full tub bathroom and the main living area had a separate bathroom with a typical standup shower. As an added bonus it had a private jacuzzi on the balcony. It worked well because we had 4 adults and a 2-year-old in the suite. The extra living area was a godsend because the little one had space to move around and play. We did not have to move between rooms as we took turns entertaining the little one. With my older kids, we just get two balcony rooms. I would probably still do this, even with just one kid. Royal allows it if the parents are next door or across the hall. It is still a lot cheaper than getting a single suite with bedroom doors. Also, if you get balconies, you can request to have rooms side-by-side and have the balcony partition removed, letting you move freely between the two rooms. This is probably still a lot more cost effective than a suite unless you are just looking for the suite life and its perks.
  10. Last time we were in Port Canaveral, we were able to grab a shuttle as we exited the terminal getting off the ship with no reservation. Just paid the $25 on the spot and went to the airport.
  11. Only if you have a cancel for any reason policy and don't go on the trip at all.
  12. I think my wife would disown me if I got Master's level. Can't think what she would say if I told her I was 3x Master's.
  13. I don't know the exact answer, but I think Royal pays Haiti $12 per person. I would not expect too much back.
  14. @Beachlover2024 My wife and I are on the same sailing. This is defiantly a hot topic right now, and to be honest, we are just going to have to be patient and wait to see how our trip pans out with respect to stopping at Labadee. Personally, I have mixed feelings about it, and will just go wherever the boat takes us. If you truly have a concern, it might be better to let Royal know directly rather than posting it here. Either way, I am sure we will have a great cruise regardless of Labadee's status and I am looking forward to the trip. See you on board!
  15. Thanks for sharing this and looks like you are enjoying your Labadoozie! So the main port area seems to be business as usual? I would be curious if the beaches feel more crowded with some of the out of port excursions canceled.
  16. Thats the area where we usually stay at too. We drive in from Dallas the night before. Easy 15 minute drive to the port.
  17. I would agree. I can imagine the emails going back and forth between lawyers and insurance providers right now. I am just going to go wherever the wind takes me on this one and not worry too much.
  18. I am 3 weeks out and scheduled to be there on April 2. We have not heard anything yet for that trip, but I was kind of expecting something to happen. Looks like they are trying to keep people close to the ship/port just in case.
  19. Moody Gardens is a big resort with a lot to do. Defiantly a destination in itself.
  20. I am used to paying the charges for any upgrades upfront with new casino bookings, so no surprises there. I'll call in to see what I can do after we get the certificates next month. I already have 4 cruises for next year booked anyway (3 from casino offers, and 1 I am paying for over Christmas) and was having a little problem trying to figure out how to squeeze in the annual comp cruise, mainly because of limited PTO with work. I know it probably would not be the same value as if I used the certificate for a new booking, but trading it in for something that can be potentially be applied towards the Christmas cruise may be a good option for me. Thanks for the response! I would be ok if I can get $500 in my situation. I guess I will find out next month when I call in. Thanks for the feedback.
  21. Reading through this and want to know if I understand correctly. I have a cruise booked for Christmas time with 3 balcony rooms and up until this point, I have only paid the initial deposit. Next month, I should get my annual prime cruise certificate. Am I understanding correctly that I can use the cash value of the certificate and apply it towards the room I am staying in and already have booked? I have only ever used the certificates as room comps for new bookings and never traded them in for cash value before, it would be cool if I could apply it towards my upcoming cruise.
  22. They are starting to watch that. They are also starting to limit your ability to do room charges on the Slot machines if you don't play at least some of the credits. I've personally never had a problem because I play in the casino and just make sure to take a little extra out for tips. But the people that are not playing are getting 24 hour holds put on their account before the can do another room charge in the casino.
  23. Only GTYs I have ever booked have been through the casino desk and have always been for balconies. I never get assigned until about a month out, but I always assumed it was because I was a casino comp and low on the list. They usually have good incentives for me to go GTY, like a lot of casino credits, so I am ok with it. When I booked my trip for Easter, they offered to assign me a room when I booked or give me and my wife each $300 in casino credits if we did a GTY. I guess in a sense, the casino paid me $600 to choose the GTY option.
  24. I'll be a few weeks behind you. Symphony was there today. Hopefully it remains calm at the port and does not effect our stops.
