  1. For the edification of those reading. This no entry with a DWI also includes Mexico. They don't seem to be as strict with cruise passengers as those driving over the border. It varies widely whether or not you will be refused admission. The law I believe is offence within the past 10 years with Mexico. They are not as together as Canada. Canada doesn't play games on this. Thats why many bands don't perform in Canada. Issues for band members, crew, etc. It's also a law in 6 other countries, that will stop your getting past and admitted.
  2. Just read a review of Wonder on CC. Person said they went to JR for lunch on embarkation day and they didn't get charge. Is this maybe a way to balance the load around the ship in those first few crazy hours. I wouldn't pay, don't think they are more then OK. But if free maybe. Note: they also said best meal they had all week. And that's sad and definitely has me concerned for May. Anyone know if JR embarkation lunch is free now?
  3. He has a problem. Canada doesn't allow Americans (or anyone) with DWI into the country. There is an appeals process that comes at a substantial cost.
  4. Plenty of people work hard in this country and others as well to support families. It's never great when people get downsized out of work. They are not unique.
  5. It's been a while so I don't want to get specific. Map them out along the water front. Many to choose from. There is the Newport center mall which has a Cheesecake Factory in it and a CVS for last minute items. A grocery located next to mall as well and a target on the other side. Anything along the waterfront area bet the path stations is a great location. Good view of NYC. And if nothing you like within walking distance a $5 to $10 no more than 5 minute Uber ride along that waterfront or next town over to Washington Street in Hoboken will give you more food options. At airport you are stuck with airport noise and almost no food options. Look along the water on a map from Exchange Place up along river to Hoboken. So much better than the airport. And food and drink in area. Nice view of NYC. And just as close to Port as Airport.
  6. Forget Newark Airport hotels. Try a downtown Jersey City hotel. Short ride from airport and shorter ride to cruise terminal. Many food options a walk or Uber ride away
  7. Part of the fun is the anticipation and planning. At some point let her in on it and she can plan her wardrobe etc and get excited. And you can get a proper passport.
  8. What about ordering an entree as an appetizer? If it's not cheese stix or chicken wings most apps just don't do it for me.
  9. If I put money on the main reason, it would be money. LOL. And that goes for every change. Money first. Or profits first, happy customers second.
  10. On 5/5 you booked a 7 day Caribbean and on 5/23 changed to a Med cruise. But your medical cancelation didn't happen till 10/14 and had nothing to do with the original change. So that change fee wouldn't be covered by insurance. And change fees are not refundable. Can't speak for your deposits, but you are not intitled to a refund insurance or otherwise on your change fee. That was a choice you made and had nothing to do with your later medical issue.
  11. Need the email address for an excursion question. Just saw someone post the other day, but cannot find. Thanks.
  12. Post not only here, but all the other cruise message boards. If they've done wrong, hit them with bad press.
  13. I always thought you had to tell them and be put on a list or something for self disembarking. This saves a step.
  14. In St Thomas you can taxi to Megan's Bay Beach. Admission to beach is only $5 pp. But the taxi ride is about $15 per person each way. (Rate went up like everything else in past few months) In St Maarten you could cancel excursion and take a 20 min walk to Great Bay Beach. Or water taxi over for about $7 pp round trip. The taxi and admission to Megan's Bay is still cheaper at $35 pp total, then Royals excursion which runs about $54 pp for same thing, just the ride and admission.
  15. Are there bathrooms located in each section of the island? So if your camped at one particular beach you don't have to walk too far etc? Also is there room in bathrooms to change or separate area for that? Other then using a handicap stall? Space like that in each section? The only map I have doesn't specifically list restrooms etc. Thanks.
  16. What specific ports are you asking about?
  17. Well, that's not good enough. Safety first. If you can't afford to do it safely, shut the doors and go out of business. Cut profits, never safety. Kitchen or any other kind.
  18. No, but it's clear kitchen crew needs more safety training. I was a professional chef in my 20s and food safety was the first 3 months of a very expensive education.
