  1. Well the best we have here is @Ampurp85 account from the sailing. I don't know if any investigative reporter was on the cruise. if they decided to cover it right now, I'm certain they would interview other cruise guests like @Ampurp85 to get information. As it is their job, they would likely get as many first hand accounts as they could as well as accounts from members of the party disembarked as well as members of the group not disembarked. We likely would learn more. What we have is the best we have. Maybe hire a free lance journalist to take up the cause if you require more or just choose to create your own vision of what did and did not happen excluding or including any accounts you find credible or not credible. I don't think Dateline is going to have Keith Morrison do a bone chilling investigative account of it.
  2. I haven't done it, but the price should show with the regular price crossed out with the sale price in bold preceding it. Beneath in pinkish you would see the offer label. The price in bold is what you will be charged and that should amount to 25% off.
  3. The rules make sense because one is a licensed kiosk and the other an in house service. I'm sure they have to comp SB in some way from kisok sales. Just guessing though
  4. They pick and choose one everything based on what they think they can get, but I honestly think they made a mistake on Icon with the Coffee Card. it's out of line with every other thing in CP for Icon vs other sailings. I think it's not going to stay there for the full BF run (through the 24th)
  5. I think only cosmetic difference @JFCruise. If they are making the same beverage with the same coffee using essentially the same equipment, then it's just an emotional connection to the logo on the cup.
  6. I think if this is your plan it can and should work. I would make sure that when they mark the clipboard that they only mark you and then of course you will be limited to just the $20 cap if only one person using it.
  7. You can have the best of both worlds if you want. Book now at the price you like and if reserving becomes available you'll be able to do it, if it doesn't and that's a deal breaker for you, you can cancel the UDP.
  8. Good catch. it was 12.99 on my Icon sailing too. Went ahead and grabbed it. Still $31 on my other sailing. I'm thinking this is a mistake they made.
  9. Your experience with ad ons from other lines is different than mine then. Here's a comparison. Royal Black Friday vs just booking on Princess. Black Friday is best these prices get and I am thankful for the savings they offered over scouring the CP every day since booking as I had prices better than their normal everyday CP prices which are in turn lower than onboard pricing. Princess Premier $80/Day includes Gratuities, DBP, 4 Dev Internet, 2 nights of Specialty Dining, All Casual Dining (places similar to Johnny Rockets or Playmakers), Unlimited Premium Desserts, Medallion shipping and trinket, All Photos taken onboard. Here's what the best RCI offers for a 6-night cruise this December (Princess exact same week next Dec) Gratuities=$16/Day (legacy price) DBP=$70.99 plus 18%=$83.77 4 Dev Internet=$203.94=$33.99/day 2 Nights Specialty=79.99 plus 18%=$94.38=$15.73/day (I got here being the most favorable to RCI and using 2/3 of 3 night dining package) Casual Dining and Premium Desserts=Let's say I go to Johnny Rockets twice =$12.99 plus $5 for a shake=$36=$6/day (in practice onboard Princess this will be sushi, but I'm going conservative) Medallion shipping and Trinket - $0 not available or needed Photo Package - We buy 50 photo package and BF deal is $175=$29/Day RCI Black Friday best pricing =16+83.77+33.99+15.73+6+29=$184.49/day Now being more fair to what I don't need, we would be refreshment package buyers so let's drop the 83.77 to 27.12 (22.99 plus 18%) and for the 2 of us we don't need 8 devices of internet so lets make that 1/2 of one 2-device plan or (.5*101.94)/6=8.5/day. Then that gives us 16+27.12+8.5+15.73+6+29=$102.35 and there would be some a la carte wine going this route. Closest RCI comes is 28% more and all I have to do to get it is scour the CP everyday and participate in a forum (would do this anyway) that alerts me that there will be a BF sale and then babysit my CC statement for the next few weeks. All I had to do on Princess was book it. For those that wouldn't want photos, Princess Plus is just $60/day. So call this a sale if you want and I agree, I'd rather have today's prices than yesterday's and I'd rather have yesterday's prices than normal CP pricing and I'd rather have normal CP pricing than on-ship pricing, but in the end, I pay more and do a ton more babysitting for it. I love sailing Royal and I absolutely find value and buy the things I want and have a great vacation. I don't begrudge them one bit for using the capitalistic marketplace to maximize values for their shareholders. I will love my cruises with them and will absolutely book more. I just don't love playing Cruise Planner bingo.
  10. It's one of the things about RCI that I dislike the most. Not the math part because I only concern myself with the final price, but the need to babysit the cruise planner from time of booking until cruise or risk paying more than you had to. Of the 4 cruises I have on the books now, two are on 2 other lines and this screwing around isn't something you have to do with the others. The price is the price and it is generally a good and reasonable price that is often, but not always less than the best prices I have to work to get on RCI. It is what it is, and it's not a deal breaker for me, but I agree with the sentiment that it "gets old" But today is a day for being happy, because I did save money vs what I had committed yesterday.
  11. I'm with you @CanHardlyWait, the Icon Premium is high on everything for sure! On the Internet piece, I found the tag rate to not be reduced but deep discount on multi-device. I think maybe that doesn't help your situation. At 4 devices on our May Icon we're down to $14.50 per dev per day, we had been running $16.99 on 4 Dev at the previous low. Our clan uses multiple devices and we're Refreshment Package consumers so we lucked out into the value pocket.
  12. For internet folks, look at the multiple device savings. The 1 device price isn't great, but DEEP discounts on the 4 dev plan. Refreshment package also a big saver and the new lower price for kids is appreciated even if this is the last sailing where my young one qualifies. Labadee bargain basement pricing! On a December Cruise we saved $212.82 on items cancelled and rebooked 4 Dev Int from $299.94 to $203.94 - $96 (that's $8.50 per dev per day on this 6 day cruise) Refreshment PKG (2x) from $396.24 to $290.04 - $106.20 Giovanni's Lunch (3x+1c) from $60.10 to $56.56 - $3.54 (went lower than the Pasta Day Sale) Soda - from $70.68 to $63.6 - $7.08 I'm going to pick up a Chops lunch on Embarkation and probably grab an activity on Labadee (our Barefoot Beach Cabana did not go down) On an Icon Cruise the savings were not as great on excursions. Thrill dropped only to $185 so it went from insane crazy to really stupid, but we did score Internet and Refreshment again. Total cancel and rebook savings $218.68 4 Dev Internet from $475.93 to $405.93 - $70 (14.50 per dev per day or 70% more than the Dec cruise offering. That's your Icon premium at work) Refreshment 3x from 742.98 to $594.30 - $148.68 All in all, how can I complain? They essentially paid for my parking on both of these upcoming trips. All I had to do was 5 minutes of shop and swap.
  13. They know they can sell it for a ton. You're going to have a great cruise in there!
  14. It's cool to prefer the ships you prefer @AndyPandy. You won't always get them at your home port. Hopefully IOTS has a great season and I'm sure Anthem (a ship I love) will find her way back.

  16. Don't work too hard, it just says it it running from 9th-24th and we can expect "Up to 55% off on beverage packages, Onboard Activities, Internet and more!"
  17. Yeah, when you join 30 minutes ago, you miss some of the threads that happened in real time. The original post in this thread is a link to a cruise blogger video on it so I'm not sure what your gripe is? It was discussed here by a first hand person on the ship along with any who wanted to comment and then a video from a blog. If this became as regular as fights and such on Carnival, you would hear just as much about it. The 2 are reputationally different at this point so Carnival needs to have more clean months to shed their rep and RCI has to have more occurrences like this to move theirs. Put in a little effort and you'll see that the "crickets" are actually singing a song.
  18. We are of one mind @TessFromFlorida
  19. People are funny, but they are free to make their choices and I prefer that even if I don't love it when their choices don't make sense to me. In our clan we can control our own hands and the germs we introduce and pick back up. We washy washy on the way in and sanitize after a trip for food.
  20. Yeah we'll definitely hit Baha Mar in the future with so many stops in Nassau. We like water parks, but I am beginning to age out. Don't get me wrong, I think even $219 is nuts for Atlantis, but I'm willing to be nuts for it once. $207 for Thrill is off your rocker insane. I love PDCC, but between the prices and the frequency of visits, it's becoming a stay on ship day.
  21. I love Anthem, but Independence is a great ship, huge Playmakers. Many would favor it over Anthem.
  22. I'm right with you @TessFromFlorida. I really like Thrill, but it isn't close to the return in value for the cost. I think at around $100 it loses value for us and I think I would only do it for more than that if someone had never been. Volcano Bay is a million times better than Thrill in every way. For the $207 they want on our next visit to PDCC, we opted for Atlantis Aquaventure at $219 ($112 for 12 and under). I certainly don't expect to end up feeling that it is worth $219 beyond experiencing it for the first time and crossing it off the list, but I have no doubt I'll leave thinking it as 12 bucks better than Thrill. With one under 12 it's actually about $15 per head cheaper than Thrill.
  23. This is true. There are so many people celebrating what to them is a really important date on the cruise. The crew isn't able to extend extra exuberance to any specific set of passengers at the expense of the others. Please do go in knowing that and hopefully don't diminish your gratuities if the crew finds every passenger special and not just you as newlyweds.
  24. I love it! Say what you will about RCI, but their entertainment really is the best.
