ive been to coco cay a few times now, and every time ive been there, there have been two ships, typically ive been on anthem and usually freedom was there as well. granted not two oasis class ships but still 7000-8000. i dont have icon booked, but if i did why would i get off after having spent a small fortune for the on ship water park to then go pay for another water park or pay for an adults only section...seems silly to me, but then again i didnt book icon....

Happy Sailing to all August 2023 cruisers!

August 6th Odyssey -
were booked on odyssey for the 8/6 sailing out of rome. the ship stops in ephesus. In the cruise docs its says that Turkey requires an e-visa for US citizens but the wording is vague. Checking online The turkish website states that they dont require visas for those arriving on crusie ships who do not leave the port city (we were planning to get off the ship and go to a local beach close to the dock). There is also in the cruise docs written under additonal informatio... "guest without this visa will be denied airline or ship boarding / entry into turkey. In transit cruise guests who are US or canadian do not reuqire a visa for turkey." this seems completely confusing as to whether we need a visa or not as a family of six this adds to $300. im concerned calling RC would be a waste as its a very specific question. as well im worried about being denied boarding in Rome if this needed. does anyone have info or experience on this... thanks

You can actually make that reservation from anywhere that takes a specialty reservation. Generally there is always a crew member set up on embarkation in the promenade, just go up and make it. I agree it should be as soon as possible. While the club has the little bites, there is no other food on the island till 11. To do a quick breakfast and get off the ship is recommended if you want a pool bed. you shouldn't have an issue with a lounger unless you want first row. The beach club does sell out so lack of seats shouldn't be an issue. Have fun

In my experience it's an aft facing balcony...but this is not a guarantee as obviously it depends on the direction of the ship. For comparison purposes the sunset suites on icon of the seas are aft facing balconies. Long and short royal is up is raffle that no one understands if you would like to take a chance go-ahead assume your room will stick.

Disney prices vs Royal Caribbean prices
Mike6453 replied to CruisingSteve's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
people go to disney world for three days and spend that too. its a disney vacation, while i wouldnt pay that as my kids are older, there are those that want it. It's disney world on the water. If thats not your cup of tea, RC is much better. FYI while allure doesnt have the water slides she is a great ship. And compared to disney you can splurge for a suite for short cruise....or not and just get a great deal for a qucik getaway. -
I think the days of finding cheaper prices after booking are over. The algorithm raises prices as it gets closer and rooms get booked. Last minute deals seldom have the best rooms. On my transatlantic on odyssey and owners loft dropped and they 25k per guest. (grand loft can be had for much cheaper price of 22k a person).

I have been tracking it for months for our august cruise and it is not pretty, we will wait and see. The saving grace its its only one way, we want to spend a few days in rome before and would rather use the money in italy if its going to stay at these prices.

Large families on ICON of the seas
Mike6453 replied to Mike6453's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I can totally understand that, but even below suite class there is only one room in the balcony class that holds more than 4 and it has one bathroom. Getting ready for dinner could be tricky with six people and one bathroom. The Surfside suite looks really nice with the split bathroom but the other sleeping spaces are bunks not a bed (an only holds 4) I agree that they made choices, but on such a massive ship and compared to what's on an oasis class they could have had a few more. I have the choice which ship to sail just wish that icon was on of them. -
Large families on ICON of the seas
Mike6453 replied to Mike6453's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
There are only two rooms (ultimate family townhouse and RLS - one each) in suite class that hold more than 4. in non suite class there is the family infinite ocean view balcony that does hold six assuming you can fit all six in 285 square ft (it might better to sleep on the pool beds in the back of the ship). Just saying for a family ship there are not many options and booking two rooms becomes exorbinantly expensive compared to even other RC options. While this will likely change in the future at least in pricing as newer ships come out it is still disappointing. -
Anyone disappointed in the lack of suites for families larger than 4 people on icon of the seas.... as much as they tout it as a "family" ship where are these rooms????

Apparently on icon you can kind of do that with Junior suites, there are ones that are sea class and ones that are sky class which isnt on any other ship.... -

make sure to book those 2br gs when it posts as they go fast esepcially on the higher demand iteneraries, they have been building fewer of them even on the newer ships even in the same class. I think oddyssey only has two. we did one on oasis and it was great. Although i have always felt that they should be a star class suite, what is the real differecne between that and an aqua 2br??? -

I totally agree, we did radiance for Alaska, and in August we booked a GS and the next room balcony on odyssey. We figured well be off the ship so much that sky class was enough. We're not getting the kids internet either. -

I did sky on oasis in February 2022, the concierge reached out to me two weeks prior. I was actually able through him to reserve playmakers' private room for the Superbowl for my kids. We ate mostly in coastal kitchen besides that.... concierge was super nice and very accommodating.
