  1. So, I was perusing a recent Cruise Compass from Adventure of the Seas, and on Day 1, it says under dining notes that room-service breakfast is complimentary from 6am-11am, and that other times incur a charge. It doesn't say exactly when this applies, and it's not mentioned after the Day 1 CC. Does this mean that room-service breakfast is complimentary just for Day 1, or for the whole cruise? (and yeah, I know that this may not be the case at all when I cruise in January, but mainly I'm curious -- it seems like it would be a silly thing to offer complimentary room service breakfast only on a day that people won't even be on the ship at the time it's offered, but I'm also conditioned to look at the small print)
  2. Ah, thank you for this! Not that I'm *planning* to test positive, of course, but this gives me peace of mind.
  3. So, how does this affect being able to cancel under the Cruise With Confidence thingy? If I have up to 48 hours before sailing to cancel, but I have to get my test within 2 days, how would canceling work if I were to test positive (i.e. would I be covered under the RC trip insurance)? I just realized how close this is cutting it -- not that I plan to have to cancel my cruise, but theoretically a test could come up positive.
  4. We recently did ours (they were so far expired that we had to start fresh); we expedited, which they were saying could take up to 12 weeks. We made an appointment at the post office on July 30 to submit the paperwork. The applications were received by the state dept on August 2, and we got them yesterday! Much sooner than 12 weeks, but it's not a guarantee. I would plan for the longer time and be happily surprised if it doesn't take as long.
  5. For the lanyards with the clear badge holders . . . do you have to take the pass out of the holder every time you need to use it at a bar or similar? Or do they scan it through the holder? (first timer here)
  6. Thank you so much! I'm guessing athletic shoes might be fine, then -- I guess maybe it will be a packing-time decision (I'm historically a light packer for travel, but this is our first cruise, so . . . )
  7. So, I'm booked for the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins excursion in Costa Maya, and I have a footwear question for those who have done this excursion before: do I need to bring my bulky hiking boots, or would something like athletic shoes suffice?
  8. Apparently this happened already . . . I just heard last weekend about the 60 day thing, and attempted to transfer my self-done booking* to a travel agent, and they were unable to because it had been over 30 days (by like two to three days, unfortunately). *It's my first cruise, and I didn't know what I didn't know (which was to use a travel agent from the get-go)
  9. Thanks so much for this! We'll be there in January, so heat/humidity is not so much a concern. I'm looking forward to the rooftop bar if it's warm enough! I'm tempted to just book parking at the Port for convenience (and also because their lot is patrolled) -- I suspect that when we disembark, we won't want to wait around too long before heading home. Tremont now is "involuntary valet parking" (ugh), and I've been caught before in the dance of waiting around for cars to be retrieved, shuttles to arrive, etc.
  10. Parking questions for you seasoned Galveston cruisers! I'm booked at the Tremont House the night before my cruise; I was intending to park my car at Port of Galveston parking, but then found out that the Tremont has a stay/park/cruise thing for $100. First question: is Tremont close enough to walk (with our luggage) to the terminal, or would I need to use their shuttle? The only downside I can think of for using the Tremont parking is that when we get off the ship, we'd have to get back to the hotel and wait for them to retrieve our car (they are valet only), whereas if we park at PoG, we can get off the ship and go straight for the car. Also I am not sure of the Tremont's security for wherever they park the cars -- is PoG parking more secure? What would y'all do?
