I think next cruise I'll drink mainly beer. Tried many many frozen drinks and all were good. But not used to sugary drinks, after a couple days of them they can take a toll.

She is the oldest ship in the Royal Fleet. Built in 1992, Majesty is the last of the Sovereign class vessels in the Royal Caribbean fleet. The first modern megaships,  the largest cruise ships built at the time of launch. With features not seen on ships before this:  multi-story atriums, glass elevators, and a whole deck of Balcony cabins. She looks much close to a classic ocean liner than the new ships of today.

The plan was to take her out of the fleet but many cruisers love this ship and after the retirement was announced Royal back stepped and said they would refurbish and use for short cruises.  It is kind of interesting that they are adding the most advance internet system every offered on a cruise ship as part of the makeover. This ship first sailed before we even had internet.  Cruises who like a move classic ship will really like Majesty, and with only a few days in the trip you should be able to find things to do.

Below is information from one of the press releases for the ship:

"Voom, the fastest internet at sea, will be available free and unlimited exclusively for guests on Majesty of the Seas to stay connected, brag about their vacation to friends and family, stream their favorite movies and music, and enjoy popular online video gaming. New features to be introduced on Majesty of the Seas include Splashaway Bay aninteractive aqua park for kids which will feature a vibrant waterscape for kids and toddlers with sea creature water cannons, winding slides, a gigantic drench bucket and a multi-platform jungle-gym to keep everyone entertained for hours. In addition, the pool deck will be revamped and include a new expanded bar area, family-friendly Jacuzzis and a poolside movie screen. An enhanced casino will offer gamers a variety of the latest popular slot machines and table games and suite guests will enjoy exclusive amenities and services as part of a newly enhanced suite program."

Of course I tipped! Put that coffee back in your mouth, sir!  ;)  First, there was an 18% gratuity added to the bill. Second, I almost always leave cash. The bartenders like it better. Third, that receipt was from BEFORE I purchased the drink package. Once I did buy the package, I would put out our two room cards and some cash IMMEDIATELY, so they'd know they were about to get money on top of the included gratuity.

Nothing gives bub! Don't you have a bar you're supposed to be at! :P

Yes, but Scott made the point that we should be doing a additional tip. Not sure if that recipt was a package or not but he argued under a package you should tip extra due to the amount your drinking. The more they serve the more they work. So if there's a cap on their tips under the package we should tip extra because of the high volume of drinks they are making for us.I agree with his point, I'm not saying he's wrong. I just wanted to call him on it because he made some compelling arguments on why we should tip extra, really im just playing with him.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites and liked it, I really like the open atrium concept. Breakfest was good and the rooms were very big and nice, they have a living room separate from bedroom, fridge, microwave and coffee maker with coffee.
If your room faces the port you can see the ships, we watched the Allure come in, it was dark and looked cool lit up.
If you don't face the port every floor has public balcony in the corners. I'll try and post pics...

Most of us remember your lecture on why it's so important to tip, especially with a drink package.
    So what gives Scott?

I got to visit AGSLC5's (Stephanie's) room yesterday on the Allure, it would be the one above WAAAYTOOO's suite. The balcony would be a bit smaller but was it ever awesome, I really liked it. I'd post some pics but they would just look like WAAAYTOOO's.
I thought it was cool how the balcony stretched around to the side of the ship, on one courner you can see the theater/boardwalk and on the other you see down the entire port side!
The only draw back for me is I'd spend allot of time in my room and not around the ship.

Am on the Allure now in 11330. It is even more amazing than I thought it would be. Like you, I was concerned that the photos may have over hyped these rooms but I assure you, that is not the case. My absolute ONLY complaint is that there are NO cabinets in the dressing area in the bedroom. NONE. There are 2 shallow drawers that are useless. Other than that, the room is perfect ! 8 chairs and 3 tables on the veranda (Matt).

As for the noise, with the doors closed (there are sliding glass doors to the balcony in both the living room and the bedroom), it is minimal, even during the Aqua Theater shows. The view is incredible. 270 degrees. I cannot recommend these rooms enough ! Next year I am in 8330 on Harmony. Can't wait !

I agree, totally unempressed with Indy logo gear. On Allure however they have lots of nice gear, clothing, mugs, magnets, bags and such. Quality is subjective but the hoodies felt soft and nice to me. 50 dollars seemed like a good price for them.
Really wish I could get good gear online though.

I met up with Billy for a scotch lesson (he's a scotch nut), tried some woody ones and some burnt tasting ones. They were good, he would never let me try the same one twice, always needed to try a new one.
Him and his wife called Royal to see what the scotch selection was only to be disappointed.
But once on board they found some of their favorats in the Champagne Bar, which made them very happy.

I stayed in on on the Indy last November. For us noise wasn't a issue, we could hear the 70's party but that's it. We didn't spend much time in the room but in the evenings we couldn't hear anything, ther really isn't much load going on late at night in our experience.

Just to explain ferther, other than Voom cruise ship Internet is natoriously bad, if you want to periscope at sea you nead a ship with Voom.

Periscope is really fun to play with, I don't broadcast but like watching videos. You get a image of a world map filled with red dots, each dot is someone broadcasting live. Could be a concert going on now or just someone watching a baseball game, mainly its just someone wanting to chat.
Of course we like to watch people showing off cruise ships so we try to share them when we find them.

Jerel reacted to KLA in Here's what happens if you get stuck on the Dragon's Breath Zipline in Labadee
Just off of Indy today - this actually happened to me in Labadee a couple of days ago.

It rained just about the entire day we were in Labadee, aside for a couple of sunny patches where we checked in to see if we'd be able to do the zipline (we were scheduled at 10 AM and we were cancelled due to rain) - it was shut down frequently during the day due to rain. So, a couple of hours before the ship left Labadee, we tried our luck and were able to successfully complete the mini zipline, and headed up the hill to the main attraction.

On the way up the hill, it started raining again so we weren't sure we were going to make it down. In a combination of nerves and adrenaline, I volunteered my fiance and I to go down the zipline in the first group. As we stepped up to get strapped in, it started pouring. Despite this, the attendant pulled the line and we were off!

It started out really fun, the view is GORGEOUS... though, the rain started feeling pretty painful and it became difficult to see as we picked up speed.. and then the wind started. I could feel myself being blown sideways due to how much the wind had picked up.... and then realized we were quickly losing speed. All five of us on the zipline stopped short of the end, and wound up dangling over the ocean... in a rainstorm, with the waves picking up beneath us.

At this point, I wasn't really sure how they were going to get us down... but I was wet and cold and didn't know what to do. I started yelling 'HELP' at one point and then quickly realized that was an unreasonable reaction. We found that swinging in a particular way would inch us along the line towards the end, so we tried that for a little bit. Eventually, the workers who were waiting for us at the end grabbed a rope, and dove through the waves to toss it to us - they got pulled under the water quite a bit in this process. We tossed the rope in a line between all five of us, and three or so workers helped pull us to safety. The whole ordeal lasted around ten minutes.

SO - that's my super exciting vacation story! The employees who helped get us down were fantastic, and it was really appreciated. We were also given a full refund for the experience. Evidently, this happens once or twice a year. After this whole experience, I was "Laba-done" and pretty excited to get back on the ship and in some dry clothes.

I would definitely do this again, and am looking forward to trying again sometime -  I was freaked out, but I can't say I ever felt truly unsafe. Now, if there is rain in the forecast, I would definitely recommend maybe saving this activity for your next Royal Caribbean cruise. I'm planning to write up a full review of my experience on the Independence of the Seas in the next couple of days.

On a side note... there was a pretty large crowd that had gathered to take pictures of this as it was happening. If anyone happens to have any of those pictures... please let me know. :D

While this doesn't work with room stewards, on our first or second night in the MDR the waiter and assistant waiter's names are on cards on the table (the disappear early in the week).  I take a photo of the cards so 1) I can remember their names, and 2) Get the name spelled correctly for the comment cards at the end of the cruise.  It's also helpful years on when you are looking at photos of them and wonder what their names were.

I am not so sure of tipping either... at least my views are changing.

On day one when we meet the attendant I introduce myself, ask for the extras I will need, such as extra pillows, ice in ice bucket, extra towels, etc. Then, when the cruise completes, I tip at the end. If he was great, and the room was exceptionally clean I will tip. I don't want to tip early because I don't want the attendant to think that's all they get, or that since they were tipped they can forget about me either. I have never had bad service, but I have had "great" service, and there is a difference.

I changed my tipping procedures because I heard some things since my first cruise. On one podcast, not RCB, I heard the attendant, nor anyone on the ship, does not get to keep their tips. They are pooled amongst everyone, servers, on the cruise, and the employee can be terminated if they are found to hide their tips. This makes sense, as not every server has equal chances of tips. e.g bartenders and wait staff have best chances. Also, I heard from a steward, that they only get paid if the rooms are full. So for example, if only 10 rooms of his 12 assigned are full, he only gets paid from those full rooms. Also, the tips that we are charged on tip of our bills are supposed to be the "tip". I admit that $25 per day for room and waitress seems small, all your drinks include a tip charge.

I also heard the best thing you can do for a staff member is to remember their name. Then when you complete the end of cruise critique, mention the great ones who served you in that critique. Their names are ver hard though, so I may ask to take photo instead... but that feels really creepy too.

    My two cents.
