  1. Since you didn't specify a 'Royal' or 'cruise ship' I'm going to have to choose a true ocean liner. Faster than any Royal ship at 30 knots, stronger than any Royal ship with a steel hull 40% thicker, can handle a storm better than ANY passenger vessel on the ocean... The Queen Mary 2
  2. I could be wrong on this, i havent done it but... I've read they will only drop a percent of your grat determined by your issue. For example, if you really didn't like your room attendant they will adjust your tip within the amount that is alloted to your room attendant, and not your servers ect. So the alloted amount of your tip that goes towards your room attendant will go down but not the rest of the tip. I would use this ability as a worst case scenario option, when all else has failed and you still aren't happy with the service you recived.
  3. Maybe it's like a real speak-easy and is all hush hush. Only spoken of by shady characters in dark corners. In other words, Matt and Billy should know.
  4. Hello Kathy, glad to hear there will be another Canadian on board! Matts going to want to hear all our stories about living in igloos and fending off polar bears on our way to club baby seals. My last GC I booked before knowing about this group and couldn't switch my booking over. Matts right, the group is very inclusive and all are welcome. It's just an event or two that is for MEI customers. Although don't be surprised if you are very impressed with MEI and book through them for another GC. I really enjoy sailing with a group, especially one as knowledgeable as this one. No one knows each other but everyone gets along, it's common to run into people around the ship and say hi. Very easy to find someone to hang out with and very easy to be alone. Good times had by all.
  5. There really isn't much to do the morning of disembarkation other than fill up at the buffet. Everything is closed and people are running around with their luggage, giving you the clear sense that the party is over :(
  6. Maybe try looking for YouTube videos, chances are someone filmed the sign on deck 4.
  7. Forgot to mention, when you first get on the ship go look at your table. If you don't like it you can request a change, better luck in doing that if you go soon after getting on board.
  8. Lots of great questions. I just wanted to jump in and say those are the 3 levels of the dining room, it's all one room. They just name each floor to help let people know where to go. Sounds like you have a 'traditional' dining time at 530, you will be at the same table for the whole cruise.
  9. Lots of cool boutique hotels in South Beach. We're going for our first time next month, chose the Impala hotel. Looks cool to us, plus close the the main strip. Whichever you choose you may want to book early, we booked long in advance for 200 a night and then seen prices at 500, give or take.
  10. Sharing a couple beer sounds good to me.But yes, none of these jokes bother me. They only do it because they know I can take it. It's hard to joke around with people online, it's so easy to be misunderstood. Which is one good thing about group cruises, we get to actually meet each other.
  11. It's the group cruise where I got a reputation (unfairly) for always being in a bar, while other bar hopping cruisers heard nothing. Maybe I was a scapegoat for men convincing their wives there is worse drinkers out there, I may be on to something here.
  12. Not sure if you can find out how many got sick. I do know that after a certain number they are required to warn other guests. On my cruise in early December we got a letter in our cabin. Although days before we knew something was up when we saw the crew doing extra cleaning. I'm wondering, how is quarantine? Do they deliver food and Let you watch movies? I know they are very sick just wondering if they still help you enjoy the experience. I can see people with symptoms but not totally sick get locked up.
  13. I heard about the Fathom failure but I believe the whole cruise was designed around volenteering. I think just having excursion options would be good.
  14. I only did 2 cruises this year, unlike you ballers :) My favorite of the 2 cruises has to be the Allure in febuary, an RCLblog group cruise. I had many great moments with many people, it's hard to pick one. But if I had to it would probably be a birthday diner with my wife at 150, I got her a nice necklace with a crown and anchor pendant, it was a great night. Also there was getting a little tipsy with Billy during a scotch tasting lesson. And the pub crawl was fun too. Met many great people.
  15. 1. Royal will open up sailings to North Korea. 2. I don't think they would ever allow dogs on board, but cats yes. 3. Maybe Oasis 4 will reveal some sort of slingshot or catapult ride that flings you into the ocean, imagine how fun that would be! Only in port of course, let's be sensible. Plus it could be a good way to get rid of rotten food when a carnival ship is in sight. 4. Water ski or inner tube rides at sea. 5. This last one may sound a little nuts but... I'd like to see some volunteering excursions. ShoreTrips offers some, animal hospitals, seniors complexes, kids at schools. They seem like a good way to help locals and get a real feal for the community. They tend to also ask for donations of clothes as well as your time, I can see both helping. The ones I've looked at (haven't tried any yet) also give you some beach time at the end of the day. Royal should be all over that.
  16. I'm not sure when you HAVE to be off but the last departure time was 830am on my last cruise on the Anthem. If you have time to kill they tend to offer very cheap excursions that show you the area before dropping you and your luggage off at airport.
  17. 2 Anthem models now in the mail to members. I'm sure you will like them, they seemed to have stepped up their game with the painting. Plus the North Star spins around, fancy smancy. Now we just need to get Mason the Empress! After getting the Navigator in February he will be one short of having every ship in the fleet.
  18. I'm leaning towards voyager class ships. They have most of the amenities that a large class has (including promenade) but has less people and the feel of a small ship. I think of them as 'medium class', with the pros of both large and small classes. I haven't tried radiance class (will in sept) but it may be a contender aswell with it famous multiple views of the ocean. That said the ship I'm most sentimental about is the Enchantment, she's in a class of her own after being stretched. First ship and fell in love with cruising on her.
  19. Wow, sounds like you have a good vacation planned, that's great. The Harmony is a great choice for the 14 year olds, lots of great activities for them, for you too! My only advice I can think of now is to alot for down time. Sometimes with so many activities and heavy planning you can get too tired fast.
  20. Yes, I can do that. A few days before I leave ill send you a message just to confirm that's what you want to do. If you choose your other option thats fine.I don't get home till the 16th of December on a Friday. If I mail it out on Monday the 19th it might be cutting it close for Christmas. Depending on the shipping method chosen. Last time I did it I took the package to the post office to get quotes on shipping options, then went with what the recipient wanted to pay. I'll do it at cost, I don't need to profit off of it. But I will say it can get pricey, I believe the ships are around 45 USD, plus shipping. Shipping I'm not sure how much it would cost, although when it comes to North America my city of Halifax is close to England.
  21. No worries. Besides, no tradesies! Lol. I'm up to date in my models, until I break one that is.
  22. I'm willing to buy and ship models. Going on... Anthem, Dec 9th Navigator, Feb 2017 Radiance, Sept 2017
  23. True, that's why some more information would be helpful. But then again I'm assuming Taylorrka wants to know why it happened and how to fix it, which we can help with. On the other hand maybe he/she just wants to spread the word on how evil Royal is, which we can't help with.
  24. That's what I was thinking. Admittedly my wife does all the booking so I'm not that knowledable in this area, but we have cancelled befor and got our deposit back. Taylorrka, People here are very helpful, give some more details and you will get some good advise.
  25. An offer like free Sabor you hold onto, put it in your pocket. Brandon once said he would buy me a beer, you better belive I'm going to collect.
