    Unfortunately you're in one of those borderline cases where I'm not sure anyone that you would easily be able to speak to at Royal would have an idea how to answer it for sure.  I don't know what level of leniency they have when it's St. Thomas who is making the rules.  And of course we are seeing how wildly things can change back and forth with respect to all protocols.  My suggestion is keep waiting and see what things look like closer to final payment date and decide if you want to gamble with Royal hanging into money in the hopes that it all works out ?

    Royal Caribbean would never give ma an answer about my son. I asked if I had to pay for his testing at the port. They would never tell me, and I emailed probably five times, and also a message through Twitter. I finally gave up, he was tested at the port. I went to Guest Services and asked again, and it was like talking to a rock. They just said "He is twelve, so you're responsible for the cost of the test. I told them legally he isn't available to be fully vaccinated for the cruise, and RC should pay for the test like they do for Unvaccinated children under twelve. Still had to end up paying the $94 dollars.

    That is a good compromise! Did they tell you this on a phone call?

    Correct, he isn't considered fully vaccinated.  Unfortunately he will have to be treated as such.  However, you won't have to cover the costs of his onboard testing like the other unvaccinated passengers over the age of 12.   You asked if Royal was going to cover the cost of testing for him at the port, and yes they will according to their Healthy Sail Center.  They will also cover all his testing onboard he is required to do.  You will be responsible for getting him the 72-hour prior to boarding test.  Both CVS and Walgreens offer COVID PCR testing at no charge to you cost (bill insurance if you have it, but free for uninsured).  

    I agree with you. Think I will schedule a test on Friday afternoon, and hope the results are back before check in on Monday. Friday puts us at the 72 hour mark. If needed I guess we could arrange a test in Miami on Saturday or Sunday.

  5. I have looked into this, since my son who just turned twelve wont be vaccinated in time. We are flying into Miam, and they do them at the airport, and the cost there is $120 dollars, and there are a few other places that claim 30 minute results in the Miami area, that are $140 dollars. Also RC wont give ma an answer if they are paying for my sons test at the port, or I am responsible. They just keep saying they will reach out and let me know.. This question has been asked a dozen times, and I can't get an answer..

    Reading the terms for RCTPP I'm wondering if the policy provider will cover being quarantined as a medial expense vs trip interruption.

     “Medical Expenses” means expenses incurred only for the following: 

    Hospital or ambulatory medical-surgical center services (including expenses for a cruise ship cabin or hotel room, not already included in the cost of Your Trip, if recommended by Your attending Physician and approved by Us as a substitute for a hospital room for recovery from Your Injury or Sickness;

     

    Now adding more confusion to the mix is the FAQ does not even mention the policy needs to cover quarantine.

    I think I will have to call RC, but dont think they will give an answer. I cant find any policy worded that way. Trip delay is what pays for quarantine, but it's not paid at 50,000 dollars. Sounds like they added medical expense coverage and trip delay together, but that's not how policies list that.

    What I still do NOT know is whether I have enough coverage.  B/c of the way Royal stated the requirement, it is difficult to determine.  They lumped quarantine and evacuation into 1 $$ requirement and they are covered by 2 separate parts of the policy.  In total, I have $555,000 worth of coverage (from just 3 sections of the policy !)....so it would seem that I should have it all covered, BUT we only have $5K each under trip interruption, which would be where the quarantine would be.  Now, that's $10K worth of hotel and food money if we were to get quarantined, but it falls short of the $50K they are requiring for the combo of quarantine and medical evacuation.  My medical evacuation coverage alone is $500K.  I can't believe this wouldn't be enough !!  So, it's possible that I will have to purchase a rider to increase my trip interruption up to $50K.  I have no idea how much that would cost, but if it's reasonable, I will do it.  Still waiting on the sales agent to call me. But it seems that I have some breathing room because....

    @michelle(God bless her) has confirmed that I have until 28 July to cancel my 21 August SY cruise for a cash refund.  So now I have nearly a month to figure out if (1) my insurance coverage is sufficient and (2) whether I can avoid the deep nasal swab testing.  Our Genie SHOULD have contacted us by then and I'm going to get him/her involved in vetting some of this, too.

    This is what Allianz sent me today.  It is called an "Embassy Letter".

    I'm having the same question. I have a current policy for an upcoming cruise. The Trip delay is what would cover quarantine, and is listed as $2000. I wonder if RC is not giving the correct information. I have looked, and done other quotes, and nothing for quarantine/trip delay is that high.

  8. Cruise leaves August 2nd from Miami. My son turns twelve three weeks before the cruise so wont be elgible to complete the vaccine regiment. Also I see now he may need an insurance policy. We had one that was rolled from the last cancelled cruise. I have emailed RC numerous times, but no answers.

  10. I have a cruise August 2nd. It includes my 12 yr old who wont be vaccinated, and I definitely dont want to go on a cruise where we have to mask outside, or have to do "to go" food options, amongst other issues. My family members are vaccinated. I just assume cancel, but since I made final payments, hopefully we can lift and shift.
