  1. I did this cruise last year. The Facebook group tried setting up a phone chain. Lots of mad people when they missed calls or the call was late night. The Facebook group people would chat/post when they spotted lights and people would go. I don’t recall announcements. i recommend learning if your phone will be able to capture the lights, mine could iPhone 12 Pro. Hubby’s could not-iPhone x. The lights appeared as wisps of light grey clouds. The phone would pick up the color-not the naked eye-to us it looked like wisps of clouds.
  2. I was just cranky because they first lied and said they don’t print them at all and they stuck to the lie. I knew it was a lie because I’d been sailing, a lot. When pressed they said it goes to people of a certain age without them asking. That’s when I asked about cranky middle aged people-said with love.
  3. When I inquired last year at Guest Services about getting a cruise compass I was told it’s automatically given to guests of a “certain age” ( not disclosed). I believe my reply was something about getting one for a cranky middle aged woman, they promptly gave me one. Maybe you are “of that age”?
  4. It is currently running on the Anthem cruise this week. The activities for next week are not loaded yet. Anthem is currently on a 12 day cruise so the activities do not align to the upcoming 8 night.
  5. Does anyone have a copy of Royals travel insurance? I’d like to read about their cancel for any reason portion
  6. Just saw on the news that Carnival is not going to be sailing the Red Sea. Understandable. Which ports does this impact? Is Royal going to need to make changes? It’s a shame the industry is getting back on its feet and now this. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/travel/red-sea-tensions-disrupting-cruises/index.html
  7. Panama Canal——Florida to LA or LA to FL I did a cruise from NY to San Juan PR in November. I’m taking a ship from Hawaii to Vancouver. I’m sure there are others
  8. There is the crowd….outside the area where the first group was allowed into the waiting line….seapass checked twice-once for line and again to get in the terminal.
  9. Log into clubroyaleoffers.com and see if you have any offers. You use your last name and crown and anchor .
  10. Just had a check in last night. Not everyone was able to do check in, with many reporting problems. first-ensure you have the latest version of the app. Next-try and avoid the check in button at the bottom of the app. Use the check in you will find when you click on the person icon at the top of the page Dont bother at 12:00, 12:01 etc….its more like 12:06. So dont panic if the check in doesn’t become active immediately. Click on the person you want and select arrival time. Go back and pick the next person and their arrival time. Continue repeating this until all people have an arrival time selected. You can then go back and add travel documents at your leisure. IF the above does not work you can use the website but you’ll need additional info, or just “fake it all” and then go edit later Select naturalization papers (no need to enter info) ‘provide all your own address.contact etc the tricky part is they want a credit card….then you really need to be sure people edit their info and add their own! obviously the app check in is the easiest.
  11. Interesting that it’s not working properly i I know there are 2 out of LA so I selected that as my port and then Panama Canal and they came up but if I started with repositioning nothing came up. Royal IT strikes again. It’s a wonder they are selling cruises!
  12. Weighing in -as if my opinion would matter to anyone Having worked as a server tips were always appreciated. Did everyone do them, no. I had regular customers who were regular tippers-you bet I went out of my way to take care of them. Having spoken with crew about where they are from and the choice they made to work on the ships I feel my "paltry additional tips" go a long way to help their families back home. A lot of crew try and get on the US based sailings because of the US tipping culture. I will continue to tip addtional-because I want to. If you choose not to, no judgement. I do think pulling tips because you feel Royal should pay a better wage only hurts the employee. I've recently met a staff member who is 10 years with Royal and she is very happy, my assumption would be it is better for her on the ship than it is back home. Perhaps next time I will do a more in depth conversation to ask the reason they stay with the company. I had a wonderful stateroom attendant who had 25 years with Royal. Seriously, if the working conditions are "that bad" and the pay "that bad" I do not think they would still be with the company. We are imposing our standards on others. I traveled to London and had service charges added onto our bill at 2 dining places. We were near the bus station area when this happened. I suppose I could argue that if they were paid enough they wouldn't be doing that or I could say they were taking advantage of foreigners. I won't. I thought it was interesting and did not feel the service charge was enough-so I added to the tip. More power to those who work in the service industry.
  13. I've not read of negative consequences for arriving after your boarding time-except for Puerto Rico. I've read they are very strict, they stick to boarding times and if you miss it you will have to wait for the last group. I personally did not try this out to see if it is true. I did have a hotel clerk tell me she used to work at the Royal port and she confirmed that they stick to check in times and if you miss it you will wait. Of course the experience may vary. I know you are out of Port Canavarel but I share this in the event someone is sailng out of PR and they might need to see this.
  14. Loved the apple blossom. I’ve given up desserts but did find baklava in the WJ on the last night of a 7 night cruise. I may just find myself there on future cruises. It was good!
  15. sounds like everyone has answered your questions. At the end of the cruise I slip in a bright color index card (piece of paper willwork) with the family name in large print so hopefully no one will take the wrong bag out of the luggage terminal When I get home I slip the paper into my luggage so it is ready for the next cruise.
  16. It should be available from Jan 27 however have alternate plans ready. Lots of people will be booking that out. It will depend on where you on in the list of uploads for the annual certificate.
  17. No reservations needed. Just got off Jewel-smaller ship that has a cinema and they had movies in the theater as well as the pool area. Movie selection this past week: Barbie, Gru minions thing, Latest Indiana Jones, Book Club 2 and some sort of Fast and Furious. There may have been another selction I can't think of. Looks like based on Ampurp85 and my comment that the ships run some different movies. No way to know what will be playing in May
  18. Pricing in the cruise planner can vary by ship, sea vs port day etc. pricing will go up and down, as it does for beverage packages.
  19. Loyalty ambassador onboard can make the change and will tell you it’s 2 weeks for it to go into effect. Meanwhile you’d think on a smaller ship it’s not such a big deal to swap it for another item. See if she’ll swap for a bottle of wine or the tote bag-seriously the tote bag is in the closet next to the toiletry bag
  20. Funny you mention that. On a recent sailing I had gone to the Solarium bistro to seek out the baklava-I must have seen it on a menu or heard someone had it. I stood patiently to tell the maitre'd I'd like to just grab a dessert and leave. He ignored us and then walked away. I took that opporutnity to walk over to the dessert area and snatch a plateful. This goes against my "no dessert" policy, but boy it is so worth it!
  21. Don’t forget you can each carry on a bottle of wine. Additionally you can carry on soda/water following the guidelines https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/food-drink-onboard-policy
  22. I’m booked for Alaska this May here are some pics from the cruise planner that include pricing i apologize if they repeat-we are doing a back to back so I grabbed photos from both weeks
  23. Checking to verify my dining request when I board is one of the things on my list of “to do” I actually do have a list! you can check by looking in the app-click on the person icon at the top of the page and then scroll down, or you can go to the dining room and verify your seating arrangements along with the dining time. (Linked seating, shared table, table for 2 etc)
