  1. To help limit clutter and ensure you have enough USB ports for charging everything electronic! This is NOT considered a powerstrip and will not be confiscated. It's nice and small and I packed it in my carry on with my camera gear, etc. I got this recommended model and especially like it because it has a detachable power cord which ensures that there will be no outlet clearance issues on the desk in the stateroom (compared to models that have no power cord and must plug directly into an outlet). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P936188/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  2. Just an FYI... I stumbled across "Dream Cruises" again tonight! It's back in re-runs! Here in NY, and on Verizon Fios, it's channel 669 in HD ("AWE" HD channel) Looks like they are running Season 1 over the next week which includes Navigator (pre-amp of course), Rhapsody, Allure, Brilliance, Explorer, Voyageur, Vision and Legend... also many of the older MSC ships (still very interesting since they also cover some excursions)... They rebroadcast each epsiode many times... Navigator first on FRI, 1/10/20 at 9:00 PM (EST)... I'm going to DVR them to get my cruise fix! https://www.awetv.com/dreamcruises/ https://www.awetv.com/schedule/
  3. I've never sailed out of Bayonne in April, but we've sailed out twice in October. Once in mid-OCT and once in late OCT through Halloween. At that time of year, it's light jacket/sweatshirt weather out of NY. We did not notice rough seas going down on either sailing (Explorer and Liberty), but in both cases it was rocking noticeably late evening/early morning on the way back. My wife joked on the Explorer cruise that she felt like a baby being rocked to sleep! I think part of the reason we had so much motion is because they were trying to make good time back into Cape Liberty.
  4. Yes, you should have lobster night on the last (2nd) "formal" evening of the cruise in the MDR (complimentary). It's usually the last sea day that is not the last evening of the cruise. You only pay extra for lobster if you order a whole Maine lobster (on any evening) which is $29.95 extra. ... and you can have as many as your heart desires... our group had 3-4 tails each and a friend of mine that sailed on Harmony told me someone next to him was on his 11th tail! Our waiter kept asking if we would like more and we had to cut HIM off! ? It's not Maine lobster, but we thoroughly enjoyed it! Here is the menu for the 2nd formal evening (Allure, last May)... the menu tends to be consistent across the fleet especially if it's in the same region (eg. Caribbean vs. Mediterranean itinerary):
  5. We're on that Oasis sailing... It's highly unlikely 3 ships on the same day since they can only dock 2 at a time... I don't think they would tender a 3rd. Ah, so my first Royal ship will be there with us too (10 years almost to the week since we sailed on Majesty)!
  6. I definitely agree it needs more food options... not just the BBQ during the set lunch hours. New activities would be nice too! They not only need to add cabanas, but they need to refinish the decking on the existing ones! The ones on Nellie's Beach were in need of stripping and refinishing (as of last May). I just hope they keep it more chill. The setup at Coco Cay makes sense since it's effectively a small sand bar, but Labadee IMO is more "exotic" and has nice mountains and heavy foliage. Definitely more relaxing IMO.
  7. Don't you scratch our shiny Oasis! She's docked and minding her own business with precious cargo on board ( @twangster )! Yet another problem involving Carnival... never mind all of the rusty hulls... add this collision to the multiple engine and plumbing fires/failures, multiple failed health department inspections (https://www.newsweek.com/carnival-cruise-ship-fails-health-inspection-report-dead-flies-1453497), and even a recent murder (https://abcnews.go.com/US/man-pleads-guilty-murdering-girlfriend-carnival-cruise-ship/story?id=67845968)... jeez!
  8. Wow... he clearly bends over the railing and sticks his head out of the window before he lifted her up and over the railing... so much for his lie that he did not know the window was open.
  9. Fortunately (knock on wood), we have never experienced that feeling. A coworker of mine sailed on Oasis about two years ago. She had the time of her life, but when she got off the ship she somehow developed vertigo and had dizzy spells for some time afterward (on and off for over a month). She won't step foot on another ship for fear of triggering the vertigo at this point (she's really bummed out). I was so surprised she had that experience on an Oasis class ship! I can only assume that in most cases, your body will naturally adjust to the normal, subtle movement of the ship. Maybe when you are back on solid ground, your body is still trying to anticipate and adjust to that subtle, usually imperceptible movement... I sometimes get that feeling for a few moments after riding simulator rides or roller coasters.
  10. Thanks for the beautiful pics @twangster! Amazing as always! My wife will love seeing these!
  11. Great... seems like the consensus so far. I believe Matt thought it was also disjointed and labeled it a "skip" on his Oasis review. I was not a fan of Blue Planet on Allure (also very disjointed in my opinion), so I'm not expecting much with this show. Not a knock on the talent of the performers, just the way they produced the show. I can't wait to see Flight on Symphony and Columbus eventually on Harmony!
  12. +1 on the 6-port version (with power cord). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P936188/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I like the 6-port version above because it has a power cord. Just from the pics of the 4-port model, it looks like it has to plug directly into an outlet which may pose a problem on the ship if there is little clearance between the outlets and top of desk, etc. The power cord allows you to use any standard outlet regardless of clearance.
  13. Here are a few articles on Mario... https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/01/opinion/cruise-caribbean-retirement.html https://cruisefever.net/royal-caribbean-1-cruise-passenger-super-mario-records-8000th-cruise-point/ https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2017/10/23/life-sea-interview-royal-caribbeans-top-cruiser-super-mario https://www.cntraveler.com/stories/2016-05-06/this-man-has-been-living-on-cruise-ships-for-twenty-years
  14. I hate those paper straws too... Maybe you can put the silicone straws in a ziplock bag so they stay clean while stored in your bag or pack? Ask for water (bottled water is included in DBP, or just get a glass of water) whenever you have drinks and sip through the straw to clean it out before putting them back in the ziplock... maybe rinse them more thoroughly back in your cabin or in a restroom? We may have to pick some up... not sure I want the stainless straws! We'll see... we still have a few months to decide!
  15. Have an amazing time! We'll be following for sure! 511 days until my wife and I sail on Symphony for the first time!
  16. It looks like it will be 81 tomorrow in Miami. Good luck and safe travels!!!
  17. Wow, iron stomach! ? Did you have the saffron risotto and lobster tails too? LOL!
  18. @Tanner... you are very welcome! Let me know if you have any other questions about these cabanas that maybe I can answer for you!
  19. We had an over the water cabana at Nellie’s Beach back in May... we got it for $521 (originally $579) on sale... Here’s the map... Here’s a pic of the first cabana in Nellie’s Beach on the right side as you enter the beach area (entrance is actually to the left of this pic)... We choose in the end (first come, first assigned the morning of arrival to Labadee) cabana “NW4” which was the farthest from the beach and most secluded on that same side (right side). Through the trees to our right was Barefoot Beach... you can see a service gate at the top of the hill to the right of our cabana... we climbed the hill to take a peek at the cabanas on Barefoot Beach. Nice view of the ship (second and third pic)... Some pics of our cabana... Our friend on the right in front of our cabana... REALLY nice... no neighbors to our right and the other cabanas to our left are lower in elevation... Be aware, some cabanas have ladder access to water which is a little steep and possibly dangerous for folks with limited mobility or for young children. You would want one closer to the beach or enter the water from the beach if the ladder is an issue... Some shots of the water in front of the cabana. The ship is just out of frame behind the brush to the right and can be completely seen when in the water. The other pics are of the cabanas across the beach from us... those cabanas would be on the left side of the beach as you face the water...
  20. ... very good point! That's why we haven't been able to justify it ourselves... we like the MDR for at least a few nights right now.
  21. Our planner also lists it @ $73.99 as @mworkman posted above. Amazing deal!
