  1. We travel with my parents often, and sometimes my kids are assigned to their rooms. I make sure all of our reservations are linked. We have never had a problem with my parents leaving the boat with them. You do not all need to be together to check in, you can check your child in even if they are in a different room. And adults can be assigned to get the kids from the kids club - we all take turns getting them.
  2. Are you positive their room sleeps 4? Some rooms really do only fit 3. I would confirm that (we have 2 rooms of 3 for a cruise coming up. Took in another child and had to book a third room because our rooms were definitely for only 3. And switching to a 4 person room would have been substantially more expensive).
  3. For Thanksgiving 2022 on Anthem they had someone dressed as a chef chasing someone dressed as a Turkey (all over the port at Coco Cay, and it was hot that day!), and the captain "pardoned" the turkey right before the tree lighting ceremony. So I would assume they would do something. But I wouldn't expect much. Thankfully your kids are little so whatever amount of Halloween stuff they ship does should be more than enough for those ages. Enjoy your cruise!
  4. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/minor-traveling-without-parent-or-guardian-form.pdf We have this filled out anytime one or both of us won't be going on a cruise with the kids. They've never asked for it, but it is the form you'll need if they do want documentation.
  5. Prices are NOT good anymore (and haven't been for a while, I know). But life happens and we have an extra child (we swore no more, but sometimes life as a foster family is unpredictable and in July we said yes to a temporary teen and now he's permanently ours). Thankfully my husband was on Liberty last week and got him booked into a single cabin at Next Cruise. The original price they put the cabin on hold with was so high....but then when he went to book it the price had gone down $1k!!! So still a crazy amount compared to what we paid, but we don't have to leave our new son home! I emailed Crown and Anchor trying to get him added to our status. I'm hoping they won't have an issue doing that. And on Thursday we went and put in his passport application, so fingers crossed DCF did all the paper work correctly (I know he doesn't NEED the passport. But we do prefer to have passports while cruising). If you see a frazzled mom trying to avoid 5 kids, be sure to say hi!
  6. My kids have gone three times to CocoCay. This past time (Thanksgiving 2022) we got the water park for under $50, and even at that price we decided never again. We left after maybe 1.5 hours, the lines were crazy and the kids were not impressed. We did head back in the last hour we were on the island, and the lines were down to nothing. But we all decided we would not do it again, the kids are just as happy enjoying the free parts of the island.
  7. I just did a guaranteed balcony in June on Liberty. I lucked out with almost exactly where I love to be. My husband has a guaranteed interior booked for Bermuda next week...he got a less than ideal location, but for the price he doesn't care. I would 100% do the balcony guarantee if the deal is that good (actually I am jealous of my husband's Bermuda cruise and want to do one myself but I need a balcony...which date is this for?)
  8. Alcohol package gets a 20 or 25% discount on the Taste of the Caribbean (as of Nov 2021 and Nov 2022 cruises). Sadly it wasn't held on my cruise in June due to lack of interest. I waited around but it was only me and one other person.
  9. We are doing Boston to Vancouver on Jetblue in June for our Alaska cruise. The cruise leaves on Sunday, we are flying out Thursday. I figure this gives us two more shots to make it on the one flight they have each day, or switch to Seattle or whatever we have to do to make it by Sunday. Originally everyone else wanted to fly Friday, but I felt like it was cutting it too close with such limited flight options. ETA: we also considered JFK but Boston has better flight times for us. Since we are in CT either airport works for us.
  10. I considered something like this but my daughter doesn't do well on vacation, and by the end of this cruise I assume she will be just like every other cruise we've done - unsure what to do with herself and without much coping ability left (thankfully all of our cruises so far have been within driving distance). I wouldn't want to subject a tour group to her at that point. This also means a bus to Seattle full of people may be a bit much, but I will check it out. I considered flying out of Seattle but adding two rental cars and dealing with customs at the border seemed like more hassle than it would be worth. But I still haven't completely ruled it out, I will look into the bus.
  11. Thanks, I had never heard of dayuse so I am really glad I asked here. It looks like it will be just what we need.
  12. As of now that is the best option price and stops wise. We need to get back to the east coast and have lots of JetBlue points - this is a nonstop.
  13. I have never heard of this, so thank you! I will definitely check it out. I appreciate you letting me know!
  14. Anyone want to give me ideas of what they have done the day they get off the ship in Vancouver? It is looking like our flight will be 11:30pm that night (can't book it yet, the cruise is June of next year). I see that there is a luggage service at the port, but for 8 people worth of baggage the cost would be about the cost of getting a hotel room for the day. But then that brings me to the problem of possibly not being able to get into the room until 4pm, so I am leaning towards booking a hotel the night before also and letting them know we will be there around 9:30 am to start using it. 2 nights for a room with a kitchenette is about $450. Not cheap, but possibly worth my sanity with 4 kids (10,10, 12, 14...so not small kids but 1 has special needs so having the room for her to decompress would probably be a good idea). I am willing to entertain other ideas, or hotel recommendations. I still have 11 months until the cruise, but I like to make sure I have my ducks in a row.
  15. We've gone 2018, 2021, 2022 for Thanksgiving and kids have gotten stung each time in the South Beach area. The stuff they give at first aid makes it go away quickly, it's more of a nuisance than a pain. None of my kids who have been stung were aware of it until after they left the water - it's never been some big dramatic thing. More of a "my leg is itchy/irritated!" situation.
  16. Only time I saw one was the first night as soon as we sat ("remember to only give tens!"), but we switched tables the other nights (we were originally with another family but preferred to be alone). The second set of waiters were barely even around. I'm assuming they had too many tables, because they were the least attentive waiters we've had in any of our cruises. So I didn't push it after I asked a couple times about items. At breakfast I ran into one of our amazing waiters from our November cruise, I wish we could have been switched into his section for dinner. He was amazing in November, bent over backwards for my mother's food allergies and made sure the head waiter was always stopping by to check on her. And when he saw I wasn't impressed by a vegan meal that was brought out, he always made sure to bring me another option.
  17. I sailed on Liberty June 20 and the waiters were less than helpful when I would ask if something was vegetarian. "I don't know, the description seems like it." It was pretty disappointing (the waiters were much less helpful in this regard than the past few cruises on Royal, and leaps and bounds below Disney standards), but definitely helped me keep my eating in check. I just stuck with the vegan options that were clearly marked on the menu.
  18. I assume it is so maybe you can surprise people you're traveling with? (OK maybe that isn't the real reason, but I have something booked for my friends when we go and they cannot see it even though I had to select them as guests. So it can be a plus!).
  19. I was on the Canada cruise last week to Halifax and there was absolutely no issue with the smoke for our cruise.
  20. I THINK it wasn't with actual alcohol. But I could be wrong. There was a picture of a beer pong set up but they were calling it something else. I wish I had taken a screen shot...since I am well past qualifying for the age group I didn't pay much attention, it just caught my attention because I saw an odd age range and red solo cups.
  21. 18-25 crowd had activities June 20-24 on Liberty. One was frat house games like Beer Pong.
  22. Still hasn't appeared for my April 2024 Liberty sailing. The cabana that includes the pass has been up for a while, but never the individual pass.
  23. Day 2 for my son. I figured by Day 4 I wouldn't want to wake up and have him to the pool at 8am. Although with the way I celebrate on my first day aboard, Day 4 may have been a safer option
