Quick Question with Royal Up; if I go into look for cabins available for the cruise on my date and it no longer shows as available does I guess that means everything is sold out, therefore if all cabins are booked I should assume there are no cabins open for people who bid through royal up in order to upgrade. Is this correct in my thinking

    Thanks

  3. Hello,

i am traveling on Liberty of the Seas and one of the stops is in Falmouth, we already have Cozumel and grand cayman planned but not seeing too many options for Falmouth. We are traveling with an infant along with a niece and nephew who are 12 and 15, we will also have my parents and brother. We would like to go to a beach as the I hear they are beautiful in Jamaica. Are there tour companies at the port, are there beaches we can go to and rent loungers from a restaraunt, I have heard that the beaches are full of vendors pestering you. Just want to feel safe with a baby and have a good time.

  4. I have a question on Royal Up, I have never been on a cruise before so I just got the email asking about bidding. Question I have is it only says a price per person. But is that a 1 time fee or is per day. It just ask for an amount per person but can't figure out if its on a per day basis.

    Thanks

  5. Great Bay right in town is easy to get to and has plenty of restaurants and shopping. My favorite beach on the island is Mullet Bay close to Maho, there is also a beach restaurant and bar right there and you can rent loungers and umbrellas.

Another recommendation depending on how long you will be in port is to take a taxi to the ferry on the French side and take a 30 minute ferry to Anguilla, Shoal Bay and Shoal Bay east are some of the most beautiful beaches I have seen. When I stay on St Maarten I typically spend a day in Anguilla, usually get a 10 am ferry and stay at Shoal Bay till about 3 and I’m back on the Dutch side by 5pm.

  6. I agree that some people go over board with the 2nd hand smoke issue. You are not going to die by spending an hour around someone who smokes a couple of cigarettes. All people can be offended by something, I wonder how many complaints there are of someone upset because a person got drunk and acted stupid while sitting at the MDR. Or intoxicated in one of the bars and dropped a drink on someone. People can complain about everything now a days but it’s not gonna kill them. If you don’t like the smell of smoke in a place where it’s allowed either just suck it up for the little time you will be there or just don’t go there. If it ever gets banned than smoker will have to suck it up also or not go where smoking is banned these are little things that don’t need to be blown out of proportion. I think casinos are somewhere than anyone should be allowed to smoke, if they are already allowing other vices such as gambling and alcohol what is wrong with cigarettes. But the great thing is everyone can have there own opinion and feel free to share their thoughts.

  7. Hello,

we are going on our first cruise in August, it will be my parents, myself, my wife, my daughter, my brother, and my nice and nephew. My older brother passed away a couple of years ago and we are looking forward to bringing his kids with us on a first family vacation with all of us together. Their mother is not coming with us, So the questions is do we need to get some documents or written permission for them to travel with us to the carribean. Also they do not have passports so I know they can bring there birth certificate but they do not have a picture ID as they r 12 and 15. Any replies are greatly appreciated.

  8. Hello,

I was reading on Cruise Critic about the drinks packages on Carnival, something about due to Texas Law you cannot "give" away alchol therefore there is no drink package for Embarkation day. Is this an actual thing, if I buy a drink package for my upcoming RC cruise will alcohol be allowed through it on embarkation day.

    Thanks

If you have never been to the Caribbean  or Florida you need to be prepared for the sun.  It is a different sun.  It can fry an infant very quickly.  Bring plenty of infant sunscreen!

We’re from The very south of Texas so the the heat and sun don’t bother us too much but we will for sure have plenty of sun screen. I’ve been to st Maarten, Aruba, and Nassau but never been on a cruise or any of the poets on this trip. Really excited and nervous at the same time as it will be the first trip with my LO

  10. I have been on st Maarten but never on a cruise, saying that I believe the cruise port is basically right at philipsburg which sits directly on Great bay. There is a boardwalk with quite a few bars and restaraunts that r right on the beach they run specials like a bucket of beers and 2 lounge chairs for 15 bucks. The beach is very nice and there are some great restaraunts. On the road side of the boardwalk is basically a large shopping area with rows of stores.

I would not wait to get to town and book an unknown tour with an infant.  At the very least go to trip advisor where you can find many reviews of tours and private drivers and their cars.   I like a private tour especially with kids as you can change it if you need to because of them.

Cozumel go to a beach resort.  I suggest Mr Sanchos especially if going with your nephew who may enjoy the beach inflatables.  You can do this on your own but the taxis may or may not have seat belts.

Jamaica you may want to keep it a ship day.  Most excursions are not infant friendly.

Grand Cayman is a tender port and typically a beach day.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to look at Mr Sanchos and also Club Mia for Cozumel.

Does Jamaica have any beaches close by that will rent loungers, might just have my parents stay on ship with my LO and we do a snorkling excusrsion if there is not much to do in Falmouth

For Gran Cayman really just want to spend time on 7 Mile Beach so hoping there is a place to rent loungers and get some drinks.

  12. Hello,

first time cruiser heading in liberty of the seas in August out of Galveston, heading to Cozumel, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman. As far as excursions does anyone have any recommendations for someone taking an infant. I would guess the only real options or beach days which I am totally fine with. Is it better to book excursions beforehand through cruise planner, wait for the ship, use a third party website like shoreexcursioneer.com, or wait for port and get local vendors. Also for transport with an infant, would we need to take a car seat?? What options are maybe walkable. Thanks for any input things are a little overwhelming. My parents, brother, niece, nephew and my wife will all be on the cruise so will have help for my little one.

    thanks for any replies

  13. Hello,

i am heading on a cruise this summer with my will be 10 month old. We were not going to go but my parents, brother and my 12 YO niece and 15 YO nephew convinced us. I think it’s gojng to be great to have my parents willing to watch her at times during the day and hopefully at least one evening. My main concern right now is on port days, we want to spend some beach times where we’re going but trying to find out the best ways to go about it. I am a first time parent so this whole experience has been a wake up call but it’s been a great journey and I’m looking forward to taking our first family vacation with my family while family as well. Good luck and let us know how your experience turns out, I will make sure to do the same.

  14. Thank You, my parents, brother, and tween niece and nephew will be with us to help so we will not be alone. Just trying to figure out what we can do on port days, my parents might end up staying on ship with her on one of the port days so just trying to figure what is best.

Its 5 bucks for the machine , which mean if the house edge on the machines is 10%  the cost is 0.5 $ per point , so in theory you are paying 1250 $ for one year free drinks in the casino , but again , no one know the house edge of the slots while its quite easy to calculate the house edge playing the tables .

Thanks I understand that it all depends on house edge and how much play u get through the machine but just seemed easier to attain when it was 1000 points for free drinks which was what I had been reading earlier.
