  1. I'm delighted to have helped! Enjoy your cruise and the Royal experience!
  2. Yes, that's right. They were still marked on the menus on our Thanksgiving cruise on Adventure just before Covid hit. I can't remember if they had them on our Harmony cruise this past September. I didn't take any pics of the menus on that one. So I don't know if it's ship-specific or if the symbols have disappeared fleet-wide in the restart. I'm lucky not to need the symbols but it does seem very bad not to have them on the menus for people who do.
  3. Sorry, I don't have any more info than what is shown on the website. It currently looks as though an additional test will not be required on boarding but - and it's a big but - some countries appear still to be requiring a test for ports of call: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/if-i-am-not-up-to-date-on-vaccinations-in-europe-where-will-i-need-additional-testing Maybe @wordell1 might know, having also sailed from Rome recently?
  4. Probably a supply issue. I'm sure it's not because of being in Europe because it was offered on my Odyssey sailing, just a couple of weeks before your sailing. Or maybe ship-specific? I was pleased to see the pies and curries, as those normally used to show up only on cruises out of the UK or with a large UK demographic on board.
  5. Most use a bus to go up but you need to check the description carefully because I think there might be one or two that use the cable car. However, note that even if they use a bus to go up, there is NO bus back down. If your family member is not able to use the cable car the only options are to ride one of the donkeys or walk down the steps. These are the same steps used by the donkeys so they may be slippery with pee and poo.
  6. We used Civitavecchia Shuttle Express https://www.civitavecchiashuttleexpress.com/. When we booked they had shared shuttles available at a cost of €65 per couple but I just checked the website and they only seem to have private transfers now for your date, at €130. A couple of other people have recommended Civitavecchia Cab Service https://www.civitavecchiacabservice.com/ and they do appear still to have shared shuttle space for your date at €95 for the two of you or private at €140.
  7. Yes, I can see how that would be a pain if you're an early riser.
  8. On the few occasions when we have had breakfast in the MDR, I have found it to be a far more relaxing and civilised experience than the WJ. But not so much better than I'm willing to get up early on purpose!
  9. You just described me. We had to do at-the-port testing last September in Barcelona, as it was mandatory for ALL passengers at that time. And those 15 minutes waiting for the test result, with the ship right there were miserable. For our recent cruise on Odyssey, which sailed from Rome, we had to test one day ahead of sailing. The 15 minutes in the pharmacy waiting for the test result were equally stressful. For our upcoming cruise on Anthem from Southampton the current testing requirement is two days ahead of sailing. That cruise is at the end of September. I am so hoping the testing will go away before then but at least for that sailing the test window means we can test before travelling to our departure city and that does actually make a teeny tiny difference because the big black cloud of potentially having to quarantine away from home has been removed. In ALL cases, the pre-cruise excitement and anticipation has been essentially wiped out by the testing requirement. If it goes away before our Anthem cruise I will be dancing in delight. I am still going to keep booking future cruises though because surely it has to go away sometime and I enjoy cruising too much to not book.
  10. On my recent cruise on Odyssey it was 7 am to 9 am on some days and 7.30 am to 9.30 am on others. That was in Europe but I remember it being quite early on our past Caribbean sailings too. We are rarely up in time to make it.
  11. My pleasure. I'm so glad it was helpful. You're going to have an amazing time for sure!
  12. I wasn't too sure where to post this but just want to send "get well soon" wishes to @Matt. What a lousy end to your cruise but thanks for sharing your experience as I'm sure it will be helpful to others who may also fall foul of the C-word.
  13. Adventure Ocean staff are paid proper wages and do not rely on tips in the same way your stateroom attendant and wait staff do, so there is no expectation on their part that they will receive any tips. However, if your grandsons rave about their time in the club, can't wait to go and don't want to leave, then by all means a small tip will surely be deserved and gratefully received.
  14. Dont worry. That will absolutely not be a problem. I took a small backpack, big enough to hold my wallet, bottle of water and the other bits and pieces you would reasonably need to have with you for a day trip. You can read about our visit to the Colosseum and Forum in my Odyssey recap blog here:
  15. Hi William, and welcome to the boards. Basically, you should expect NOT to win your bid as there is a far greater chance of that happening than there is of winning it. If you do win, then look on it as unexpected bonus! Earlier in the start-up, lots of people were reporting winning bids and that was largely down to the fact that ships were sailing well below capacity, meaning there were always empty rooms. However, everything has now been ramped back up and most ships are sailing at or close to capacity meaning there is not much real estate out there for bidders. You could be notified of a winning literally any time up to sailing or even a few hours after (e.g. if someone cancels or no-shows, opening up a previously unavailable room). Similarly, rejection e-mails will usually come in after your ship sails since there is a buffer period just in case of those very last-minute cancellations/no-shows. I received my rejection e-mail at 2 am, so 9 hours after the ship's scheduled sailing time. I hope this helps and you have a great cruise.
  16. I agree with Wordell. While you're in Italy it doesn't matter what RC says or thinks. You have to abide by Italian law. As per the official Re-open EU website, the length of time in quarantine in Italy depends partly on symptoms and partly on vaccination status: https://reopen.europa.eu/en/map/ITA/7012
  17. So glad to hear this. It's great that you've been able to stay so positive in the midst of very difficult circumstances.
  18. My upcoming cruise is on Anthem, so it's for two70, some sort of virtual reality game. I remember @twangster talking about it in a review of one of the quantum class ships.
  19. I just spotted this just now and I know it wasn't there last time I looked (yesterday). When you click on it, it takes you into a day by day list of the excursions on your cruise and you can book them right there in the app ahead of the cruise, rather than having to go into the cruise planner.
  20. You sure dodged a bullet there. Enjoy the rest of your time in Rome and safe travels home.
  21. Unfortunately, you can't do this. You can bid on a large suite. In fact you can put in two bids for a large suite, one from each of your connecting rooms. And if you win, you will only be charged for the two people in the room that won the upgrade. You can then move the people from the second room into the large suite if you want, as Royal does not care who sleeps where. But those two "extra" people will not be entitled to any of the suite privileges; they will only be able to take advantage of sleeping in the bigger room along with the other members of the family.
  22. Sounds like the OP disembarked Wonder yesterday and tested positive on the mandatory "return to US" test, which is doubly unfortunate given that the requirement is about to be lifted. Probably her husband and children flew as planned, which ultimately was a very brave but also very sensible decision on the family's part. I would not be surprised if the husband and children subsequently test positive after arriving home but at least they will be home where they have their normal support system. It would be an even worse nightmare for them to have stayed and potentially all test positive in Italy. OP: I'm so sorry this has happened to you. As far as the certificate of recovery is concerned, since you are now in the Italian system, you should be able to get this from their healthcare system, as the EU has three different types of certification: 1 - vaccination; 2 - negative test, which has limited validity depending on the type of test; and 3 -certificate of recovery. Potentially, the pharmacy where you did your test may be able to assist with this, if you can find someone there who speaks enough English. If you haven't already done so, I would also suggest you contact your Embassy for assistance. I wish you a speedy recovery and a safe flight home to your family as soon as possible.
