  2. Ok...I follow you. So, some new venues & a lot of cosmetic touch ups(bedding, carpeting, chairs, lighting, card readers, etc).
  3. Even if Royal went to 110,000 tonnage, that would still be far below the panamax 2 standard...which is 120,000 & well under, by far the original panamax of 52,500. I'm just speculating why Radiance would be in dry dock that apparent length of time(2 months), based on the last sailing & advertised 1st sail back, if it wasn't major refurbishment.
  4. I'm a little surprise as well that Radiance OTS, for possibly this length of time...Sept-Nov. I read on cruise critic some time ago, that Radiance would be making a pit stop; however, it was not advertised as if it was being "amped" like the Freedom & Voyager Class ship were...so, I simply assumed it was just for regular schedule maintenance. Yet, looking at the booking for the ship, the last sailing ends early in September & according to the advertisement, resume sailing in November...that approximately 2 months in dry dock. That sound more like "amping" than regular maintenance...which is normally two weeks, if not less. With that said, I'm very interested as well, what kind of changes this ship may get & the amount of investing. Just a thought...what are the chances, given the possible length of time in dry dock, that Radiance OTS(or over time, the Radiance family of ships[4]) may get a boost in tonnage, much like, at one time, Enchantment OTS got several years ago. Radiance Class Ship are in the 90,000 tonnage range. To fit a reasonable number of venues, in Royal's "Amplification" process, could there be a consideration in "amping" the tonnage comparable to Carnival's Destiny Class(102,000 tonnage) ships or even their Conquest Class(110,000)?
  5. I have to admit, does make plenty of sense for this to possibly be the case...certainly hope things are indeed proceeding in this direction. An Oasis Class ship porting out of Galveston would the closest mega class ship we may ever get, this close to the "Pacific Coast"
  6. Any idea when the announcement is suppose to be made?

  8. Hmmm...if Adventure OTS leaves the Galveston port at 4p on a 5N cruise, normal cruising speed(24knots) it can arrive at St. George, Grand Cayman(956 nau mil/1day 16hrs) @ 5am local on the third day(the 2nd day/night being a sea day)...leave Cayman at 4pm(3rd night) 4th day/night being a sea day, and arriving in NO(855 nau mil/1day 12hrs) at 8am local on the 5th day. Leave NO at 4pm(5th night) and arrive back in Galveston at 8am(390 nau mil/16hrs). I don't see why that is not possible. One can also go the other way...leave Galveston at 4p(1st night) to arrive at NO 8a(2nd day). Leave NO(2nd night) at 6p, sea day(3rd day/night), arrive in the Cayman at 6a(on 4th day). Leave Cayman 4p(4th night), sea day(5th day/night), arrive back at Galveston 8am.
  9. I just wish they would consider a stop in New Orleans or Tampa Bay, even Key West, than on to maybe the Cayman(to satisfy an Intl port), whatever combination, for one of their 4 and/or 5 night itinerary. I honestly don't see why that would be an issue. Make it happen Royal...show some versatility.
  10. I can see some of those suggestions on the Icon Class...not so much on the Oasis Class ships.
  11. 5th Oasis Class: Wonder of the Seas 6th Oasis Class: Spectacle of the Seas 7th Oasis Class: Phenom of the Seas(if there is a seventh) or they may just recycle former names of past ships or ships currently being considered for retirement/sale from fleet...example: 5th Oasis Class: Empress of the Seas 6th Oasis Class: Majesty of the Seas The same could be considered for the new Icon Class using names from the Vision Class if they slowly retire/sale those ship from the fleet. Just an idea....
  12. Glad all of you enjoyed it...hard not to really...cruising is really so much fun & relaxing. Briefly, what was those things you like & dislike, if you don't mind sharing?
  13. Wonderland needs to be shut down...it appears to not be as popular as once was hoped it would be. Another venue would be welcomed there.
  14. Personally, I wish they did Key West & Coco Cay as an alternative to Nassau & Coco Cay.
  15. I was once told JR was placed in certain designated locale, not really convenient or popular location, to increase the foot traffic, in low activity areas of the ship & spread the traffic around some, to help alleviate crowd in heavily dense areas of the ship.
  16. @twangsterGreat closeup of the pool...i was almost getting that closeup, in the pool, vibe for a minute. One thing I think Royal need to consider...hiring bands that can play 70s, 80s, 2000s, & todays music, with different flavors & genres. No dispect to people who love reggae or carribean music...just seems like no one really wants to here that. I know bands are local & cheap; but, come on Royal...at least have your DJ out there. Great vid twangster...?
  17. From what I understand Gregg, it will get many of the things Symphony has...ex: Playmakers, laser tag, el loco fresh, water & dry slides, hooked, & a few other things I'm sure.
  18. @twangsterthose dusk 2 nightfall shots of the pool area and Lime & Coconut remind me so much of the roof top atmosphere at the Rio or Drai's Beach Club in Vegas. Exactly what I was hoping for. Great shots dude...you did an excellent job capturing mood & atmosphere. Love it! ?(using this emoji like a "shaka" Hawaiian for "hang loose") friendly gesture.
  19. I get what you saying; that may be true for some % of cruisers. However, like Atlantix2000, there are a huge number of people wanting to cruise the Medit, whether they have cruise on the newer Oasis class ships or not, 1st timers or not, or never cruise on that class of ship...it still an opportunity to cruise the Medit, on an Oasis class, that may fit their schedule, during that particular window. The ship does not have all the bells & whistle that Harmony & Symphony; but, what choice do they have...Royal is maximizing their port of call & ships. No ship goes to dry dock during the peak season unless it an absolute necessity...and given the popularity of the Oasis class in Europe, Royal knows there is a market out there, even for a 10yr old ship, whom have yet to get it's bells & whistle. Besides...Harmony & symphony are made for the largest cruise market in the world...so if an Oasis class was going to sail the Medit, it always was going to be Oasis OTS or Allure OTS, either before or after dry dock. They are not moving their prize & joy back to Europe, over the Largest Cruise Market in the World.
  20. Yes, you are correct...the business model is now to a'la cart the food items.
  21. Love the vid of the "night shot pool area & pool bar." Those shots do remind me of the Vegas Strip Hotels" & some of the resorts I have stayed, in the past. Remarkable video...thanks. I notice some cruisers still partaking in a late night swim...what time do they shut down the pools, including the Solarium? I sssume it would be shortly after dusk; mainly because, I never see anyone in the pool past dusk, on every cruise I have been on.
  22. Twangster...if you can, please get a shot of the resort style pool from an overhead perspective, looking down into the pool area. Enjoy! ?
