  1. That's really interesting. We're supposed to sail 5/25 and have purchased the DBP and Chef's table. I wonder if they will carry this new policy forward if there is yet another round of cancellations?
  2. Grand 2 BR on Liberty last Sept. was a thin, firm mattress. Grand 2 BR on Enchantment 2 months ago was an amazing cloud on which I could rest my head every night. ?
  3. My husband did this for awhile. I was so much happier when he started brewing in the garage!
  4. We don't have a statewide shelter in place, but Dallas county issued one that goes into effect tonight at midnight. Cities around Dallas have been following their lead, and the mayor of our town, which is in the county just north of Dallas, has said he is making an announcement in the morning regarding a shelter order. I think more rural cities and counties will trickle into the same situation as the virus continues to spread, and at this point April 11 isn't likely. I've pretty much given up hope for my May 25th sailing... I'm feel like I'm playing a game of chicken with Royal to see who will cancel first.
  5. I have 2. The first is us waiting around in the Star Lounge for our rooms to open so we were taking photos of each other. DD decided to photo bomb. ? The second was taken by one of the ship's photographers.
  6. I'll add my very large glass of wine to the party.
  7. I agree. When I price check my cruises, I just get depressed. Like knowing in the back of my head at least the one in May will most likely be canceled. Then I try suppress a why bother attitude while looking at the cruises I have in November and January. ?
  8. Forgot about Disney... Because of their prices we tried to instill a 'fear of the mouse' from a very young age with our kids, so I don't even think about them.
  9. Not for Royal. Viking and Princess have canceled all their sailings in the short term.
  10. It says effective Monday the 16th in the line right above section a. ?
  11. I worked in a call center in college. We couldn't, not we shouldn't... but there was no way to, dial out from the phones lines connected to the computer that had all the contact info on it. Once a call hung up - on the customer's side or mine - all info disappeared from my screen and the next caller's info popped up on my computer. I had a regular old desk phone that I could use, but I wouldn't have had the customer's info written down to call them back.
  12. No. I've been tracking since we booked - we currently have three May 25, 2020, Nov 1, 2020, and Jan 24, 2021. We're getting the regular sales, and the percentages off are tracking with our last two cruises (Sept 2019 and Feb 2020). However, our Jan 2021 cruise only has the spa packages and a handful of shore excursions (only 1 for CocoCay - beach bed for $199, 14 in Nassau, and none in Key West). I'm worried they're holding on to release the rest including the drink pkg until this blows over and they can figure out how high they need to jack up prices. ?
  13. I am so sorry that your son got sick. With 2 kids myself, I can see how frustrating that would be for someone to come down with any illness right before a vacation. You should know that this website is not affiliated with or run by Royal Caribbean though. It's a blog and forum frequented by fans of Royal Caribbean. Did you have a travel agent? In light of all that is going on, maybe they could fight your case with Royal Caribbean for you. I hope your son feels better soon.
  14. Time wise, Royal's cancellation policy seems a lot more generous since the cut off to move your cruise with Carnival is March 31 and only good for sailings through the end of May. I'm okay with no OBC for peace of mind closer to my sailing. It's not like they are offering a whole lot of OBC anyway.
  15. We were just on Enchantment last month, and we loved how easy it was to get to everything compared to a Voyager or Freedom Class ship (Oasis and Quantum too, but I have no experience on those). The trivia is always fun. We try to play bingo once a cruise, never expecting to win of course. The activities staff running it in February (Tom) was funny and got people involved and laughing. They have a paper airplane competition and egg drop challenge in the Centrum. In May DH and I will be back on Enchantment without the kids, so I'm sure we'll have a much different experience this time...more casino and naps/less pool.
  16. I saw an article on Cruise Fever this morning indicating that Carnival has changed their cancellation policy because of the current Covid situation. They are allowing guests with sailings scheduled from today through May 31 to reschedule their booking, and they receive a future cruise credit in the amount of the non-refundable cancellation fee. If people decide to stay with their booking, they will receive a small onboard credit. I wonder if other lines will follow this precedent. https://cruisefever.net/carnival-cruise-line-updates-cancellation-booking-policy/
  17. This isn't too new...these were available in my cruise planner for the entire year leading up to my cruise this past September and February. I can't speak to before that - I was in an 8 year dry dock.
  18. I just checked and these are available on my November Liberty cruise too.
  19. Maybe, we're going to try to figure out all our options and make a decision this weekend. I told Michelle I'd be calling her on Monday...it will either be with my CC number or to request cancellation. Guess I should look up the Lava Flow and Habenero Grapefruit Daiquiri recipes just in case I will be making them at home. ?
  20. I just saw some casino options for sale in the Internet and more section of the Cruise Planner. This is on the May 25 Enchantment sailing. It looks like you can pre-pay for the Slot, Poker, and Blackjack Tournaments as well as sign up for gaming lessons.
  21. We have final payment due next week on our next cruise. My MIL will be flying to where we live to watch our kids while we are gone. We're not so much worried about us, but we're worried with her and her travel arrangements as she is in her 70's and has underlying respiratory issues. Does MIL drive to us instead of fly? That's a long drive for her by herself. She wanted to come here because the kid's toys/video games/etc. are all here, but do we take the kids to her instead? It's just a 4 day cruise; if we went to her, it would be as much driving as cruising. Do we cancel and lose our deposit because of what might happen to her? It's just $200. Do we go ahead and make final payment and eat the cost of the cruise if we decide we need to cancel later? If things stayed as they are right now for the next 11 weeks when our cruise sails, we wouldn't be asking ourselves these questions, and we would be confident that we would be sailing. The problem is that bacteria and viruses spread exponentially - if 2 have it today, 4 have it tomorrow, those 4 spread it to 4 more so were up to 8, then 16, 32, 64...over a billion by the end of the month - obviously this is over simplified for easy math and not from real data, contagion rates, etc. The point is our trip is in 11 weeks; we are looking back at what the situation was like 11 weeks ago and pondering what it might be 11 weeks from now. Think about it - 11 weeks ago was before Christmas. The first report from Wuhan didn't happen until December 31. Now it's a pandemic. Unfortunately there are so many unknowns that it's not really a cut and dry decision to make. We're honestly on the fence, and probably need to make a final call in the next couple days.
  22. You can still check in, just select which form of ID you are using instead (passport card, certified birth certificate).
  23. It only pops up on the crew interface - like so they can verify someone isn't using your sea pass card to get a drink. No one else will see it.
