Found this little gem today, while researching a sailing later this year.  We'll be visiting five ports; two we've visited 20+ years ago on a different cruise line, two are brand new, and one we've visited a few times but not recently.

    http://royalportfolio.com/

It's intended to be a port shopping website, but it shares so much information I found it to be very helpful.  You can download the maps they give you on board, which is pretty cool. We're not big port shoppers, but seeing exactly where the ship will dock in relation to the shopping and walkable areas is nice.  There is a summary of the island, and an area on excursions.

You not only can see each Caribbean port - but ready for this Alaska group cruise people - three ALASKA ports too!  Maybe one day they'll add European ports?  But I found it pretty cool, so I wanted to share.  There is also a free app version you can download.

Thank you!!!!!  This website is amazing!  Love it!!!!!!!!!

What ship are you on in a GS?  The perks vary by ship.

Freedom.  We've done the GS on Liberty and Adventure.  Was wondering about the perks on Freedom specifically.  Wondering if the perks are any different from our two other experiences.

    Thanks!

  3. Is it just me or does anyone else listen to the "Margaritaville" channel and the new channel "The Joint" (all reggae music) months before a cruise?  Or if you don't have Sirus Radio do you listen to this music some other way to get you ready to go and excited for your cruise?

I don't have a cruise planned until October but I'm already listening.  It puts me in the BEST mood!!!!!  Favorite songs:

    • Stir it Up - Bob Marley of course
    • La la la la la Song - Inner Circle
    • Just about ANYTHING by Gregory Isaacs

    What are your favorite jams?

FYI all, went to Bath * Body Works last night.  I don't have a cruise coming until October (FIRST TIME IN 5 YEARS WE DON'T GO IN MARCH...WEIRD FEELING FOR SURE) but I figured what the hey...Spring/Summer is coming.  They have a promo now for Buy 3, get 3 free.  They have a few new scents that are awesome.  My new favorite is called In the Sun.  Not sure how they did it but it seriously smells like Sunshine bottled.  And of course, I went with the Beach scent again.  They now have a body butter and the scent in their plug-ins!  YAY!

The true benefits of travel agents only really apply to GOOD travel agents in my opinion. I have used 2 in the past and have not had the best luck, but I know there are tons of good ones out there and I'll find one eventually. I find it to be frustrating when I want to change anything because I have to wait to contact them first and it hasn't saved me any money in thus far. For one of the cruises I had to contact my travel agent to tell them the price had dropped and I almost missed out on the savings waiting on a response. I still plan to transfer my current reservation to an agent when I find one that comes highly recommended.

I think if you are the type of person that enjoys planning, organizing, and checking updated rates often then you should be fine without a travel agent. If you do not enjoy those things and only want to book the cruise and then go on it then I would highly recommend using one, but get recommendations for a specific agent. I would also recommend using one for your first cruise just to help guide you through the process. Before you book with any agency make sure that you check the price of the same room for yourself so you have a benchmark of what it should cost and also consider going with an agency that has a "best price guarantee".

enjoys planning, organizing, and checking updated rates often <-- This is 100% me!!!  Thanks for the response!!

Some people prefer to have some else handle things for them.  A good TA can work on your behalf or give advice.  Some can offer additional savings.  It really is your comfort level too.  I've gone both ways.  I am super Type A, I like to have full control over my bookings but with incentives, I have gone with a TA before too.

Good to know!  I am super DUPER Type A and probably couldn't deal with a TA most likely.  LOL!!!

I'm sure RCCL is monitoring the advisory in Jamaica very closely.  They will never put their passengers in unnecessary risk.  If they change their itinerary, they will notify you via e-mail, travel agent and through their social media.  At worst, it will be another sea day.

What exactly has become the problem with Jamaica?  Crime?  Drugs?

  8. Hello!  This is one of our ports on the upcoming October cruise.  I've been to this port twice already with my family and we've never strayed from the port.  We always just shop and hang out at Margaritaville there at the port.  One reason is because we found that most excursions were a super far drive and we weren't interested in that.  I'm going in October with my Mom and I wanted thoughts on excursions or even just a beach to hang out at for the day?  The catch is, I'd like it to be relatively close the port.  I've heard Red Stripe Beach was great but I recall reading that it was shut down now?

Thanks in advance for the recommendations!!!  :27_sunglasses:

Shipmate app another resource where you can search specifically to your cruise itineraries.

OMGosh, I love the ShipMate App!  I just discovered it recently.  I love the horn feature on it.  I annoy the crap out of my husband with it.  LOL!  I also like Cruise Critic...however, I find it's not NEAR as user friendly as this site is.

  10. May I recommend you bring your own?  No, I do not work for Bath & Body Works but let me tell you...every year we cruise and I head to this wonderful store a few days before the cruise and get the whole 9!  Body wash, lotion, scrub.  And they have the most awesome tropically/beachy scents and they change year to year!!

It's pretty awesome to smell like a vacation when you are ON vacation.  The best part?  When I get home I store them away and when I want a pick me up on a bad day or it's cold out, or even if I am longing my next cruise, I bust the stuff out and I am instantly taken back to my vacation with the smells.

P.S.  They don't have shampoo and conditioner at Bath & Body Works but I highly recommend OGX Quenched Sea Mineral Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner.  It smells SO fresh.  You will love it.

I have said before, check the Costco website. You can view deck by deck and it's fairly live time to RC and shows lots of availability even when RC doesn't.

YES!  Listen to Sabrinaklai!  Use the Costco site!  Google this:  Costco Royal Caribbean Cruise.  When you get to the site, "pretend" you are booking a cruise.  Of course, the same cruise you've booked.  It will show you all rooms still available by deck!  Pretty cool!!!  Thank you Sabrinaklai! :1_grinning:

I have never been to Mr. Sancho's but I have heard nothing but good things and plan to go the next time we are in Cozumel. Here is a pretty good video review that covers everything including transportation, beach, pools, activities, and food.

Great video!  Thank you!  Looks like we will do this!!!
