  1. Massachusetts. If he had arrived at the trip destination, he would have made the cruise. It was not possible to get to the trip destination.
  2. In case I forget to say it, thank you all for your helpful comments to my sad tale. This really was a cruise from hell with no happy ending in sight.
  3. Yes but we didn’t know 48 hours prior that he wasn’t gonna make it.
  4. I did tell him to contact AON and indicate it was the weather that caused the cancellation and inability to rebook in time to make the cruise. Perhaps the weather aspect was not prominent enough in the original request?
  5. According to the information submitted, your cancellation was due to the cancellation of your flight, by the airline. Unfortunately, your reason for cancellation is not among the specified reasons listed in the program that would make one eligible for a cash refund under the Royal Caribbean Travel Protection Program. As such, we are unable to consider your request for a cash refund. However, should a guest cancel for a reason not eligible for a cash refund, the Cancellation Fee Waiver does provide cruise credits which may be used toward a future booking. You should receive this credit within the next few weeks. This is part of the email he received. Any idea what this means? Is he getting an FCC? They didn’t cancel, they were a no show because they were still trying to get there up until the last few hours. I’ve emailed the TA but she has not answered yet.
  6. Now I understand, thank you both.
  7. Yes, he was scheduled to fly out at 3pm Saturday 3/12. Providence RI to Orlando. Flight was moved to 6pm then cancelled. They were only able to get a 9pm out of Manchester NH which was again delayed then cancelled. No flights from any New England airport on any airline that would have gotten them to PC prior to sailing on 3/13 by 4pm. There was a snow storm heading up the east coast and thunderstorms in Florida.
  8. He and my nephew missed our 3/13 cruise because a storm going up the east coast stopped all flights to Florida or anywhere near, from Boston, Providence, Manchester & Bradley for 2 days. There was no way, on no airline to get down there.
  9. No, he was reimbursed by Southwest for his cancelled flights. It’s the cruise fare we are trying to get from the insurance company. They say the weather problem that shut down flights from the northeast does not qualify for reimbursement. Has nothing to do with flight reimbursement.
  10. Cruise was insured through whatever product MEI sold us (Aon Affinity?). The flights were booked on points and he got those back plus $250 vouchers each. But Aon is saying his cancelled flight(s) is not a covered event. Asked the agent to send copy of the policy.
  11. Ok trip insurance is denying his claim as it does not cover flight cancellations?!?!? So all flights from 4 airports over 2 days cancelled due to weather is not a covered event under the policy we bought through our MEI agent from whatever company Royal uses? I emailed her for a copy of the policy. I am beside myself here!!!!
  12. Yes, I’d love this as I think the DBP price for our October cruise is just too much to be cost effective so we are tentatively planning to go without. 2 bottles of wine for a few dinners & pay as we go. Will be interesting to see how much I really drink
  13. We tried almost every bar on Harmony and were unable to get a BBC. They said they did not have the banana liquor on board.
  14. Used to be mine too but I found on our last cruise I just don’t like the fruity frozen drinks anymore. Just too sweet for me. Think I’m m going back to my old college stand by - bourbon and ginger ale. So what bourbon should I ask for?
  15. There is no “roll your eyes” reaction button so I’ll use my own.
  16. A very tasty rum. We always ask for it by name when ordering a rum drink.
  17. It appeared to be a featured drink at every bar on Harmony. He said the Rising Tide made the best!
  18. Goombay Smash was my hubby’s new favorite cruise drink!!
  19. Lobster night on a seven day cruise is usually the last full sea day, typically nights 5 or 6. The menu will be in the app so you can check it.
  20. Pie island? Cake? Ice Cream perhaps?
  21. I think I would be more concerned about the lack of insurance than the cost of the test. If one of them gets sick on board or at a port, that’s a huge bill with no insurance reimbursement!!
  22. Was just on sky class on Harmony and except for being able to order MDR room service and eat at CK, dining was the same . If you are referring to Coastal Kitchen, it was a less crowded atmosphere which was nice but we didn’t find the food to be appreciably better than MDR. YMMV and there will be many here who disagree!
  23. On the app and the app ONLY, you can bypass all other information and go directly to arrival time. You CANNOT do this on the website.
  24. Depends, sometimes Next Cruise has a good deal, sometimes a TA can find it and add some OBC on the side, sometimes the price on line is the best. It varies from cruise to cruise and sale to sale. A GOOD TA will book for you AND watch for price adjustments. You can also transfer a Next Cruise booking to a TA within 30 days of booking and perhaps get the best of both worlds.
