  1. That’s our first stop in Feb and a bucket list place for me. Looking forward to your thoughts.
  2. Don’t know what I’d do without you guys!! Learned so much! Thank you to all and especially Matt for all your hard work??
  3. We are going to try the helmet diving which is only available through RCCL excursions. This of course, is if the Feb cruise actually happens.
  4. Saved $101 on it! The military discount is actually $510 but the price of the cruise is up since my last reprice. Hoping for more July 4th maybe?
  5. On file is a DD257N certificate? Along with the DD215 showing a correction to honorable conditions? Think this will suffice? Also contains his service record showing date of enlistment, schools etc.
  6. According to the VA Affairs site, he can do this through the mail. Here in Northern CT, there isn't a military base in the neighborhood, maybe down state in New London at the Sub Base. I have also called the Town Clerk. In CT we get a Veteran's exemption on municipal taxes and have to file the DD214 in the Clerk's office. I also work for the Town so I made a quick call & they are looking for me. your help is very much appreciated!
  7. Yup, I think I will have to contact the VA for a replacement DD214. I downloaded a form from the VA for him to fill out and request. I found a DD215 correcting an error on the DD214 but not the original DD214. I am going with yes he is eligible and have Danette tell me what I need to do. Its a substantial savings.
  8. So I THINK hubby is eligible? Danette sent me an email with the attached verbiage: Veterans with an Honorable Discharge serving a minimum of 2 years, or 6-months in an active war zone, in any of the United States service divisions listed above. Proper identification in the form of a DD 214, plus a current photo must be presented at time of check-in. He served 4 years at the tail end of Vietnam BUT was never in a war zone (Siragusa, Sicily). Yes? No? And he has a General Discharge under Honorable Conditions.
  9. Yup, know how to use gloves properly. You are right, at some point we've done all we can to stay safe and have to rely on "the kindness of strangers". I too hope to be on the bonny seas very soon! ?
  10. Which is why I wear gloves at the grocery store. And yes, you are right, asymptomatic people, people who just don't get that the funky feeling might indeed be covid are a real problem everywhere. (Check out "Stay the F@#@# at Home" on Youtube!) But I am actually referring to an outbreak of full tilt boogie sick people. On land this is easier to deal with. At sea a quarantine problem. And yup, we have an owners suite booked on our February cruise! If I'm confined to my room, at least its a nice one!!
  11. I see it on the screen where you select number of people with a link to check for exclusive discounts. Same place I click on over 55, CT resident and enter my C&A number. Checked this morning and it’s a $510 discount on my cruise. Shot an email to Danette and am looking for his DD214! Certainly worth a try!! Thanks for the tip?
  12. Well anyone who has served has a DD214. Hubby served for 4 years in the 70’s. That would count?
  13. what's the criteria fo military. My hubby served in the navy but not career military? I assume that is not sufficient?
  14. And that is exactly the discussion here, that Cruise lines have to follow CDC guidelines. You are either in favor of that being a condition of cruising or not. I am 65 and in perfectly good health. I also follow social distancing and always wear a mask. Not sure what you mean by staying behind and enjoying the amenities. So they will infect the hotel not the theme park? Again, a cruise ship is self contained. If there's an outbreak, there's nowhere to go to insulate yourself except barricading yourself in your room. There needs to be much more stringent requirements for cruise ships.
  15. and the fact that, if there's an outbreak at Disney, you have immediate access to healthcare, can send sick people to hospitals if necessary and send healthy people home. What do you do if there's an outbreak in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico? Life boats??? I am as anxious as anyone to be able to cruise but IMHO cruising is NOT the same as opening land establishments.
  16. Sorry, I just don’t buy it. Their concern, their JOB, is to supply the best health recommendations possible. Balancing that against any other concerns is not their job.
  17. Thank you, my husband is very excited about it. Is the helmet very restricting?
  18. Wow, are you really suggesting the the CDC (the people who worked to stop the spread of Ebola, SARS, Swine Flu, Measles, Aids) are ENJOYING THIS????? I'm sorry but I cannot believe any human being would accuse them of such a horrible thing.
  19. Heck I'd be happy if the Gov of Florida would let me into the state without a 14 quarantine at this point! Talk about dragging your feet.
  20. Thank you so much!!!! Can't wait (246 days) for our February cuise and this helps to pass the time and gives me ideas!!!
  21. From where/how are you getting price alerts? oops would help to read the whole post!!
  22. Down $215 so far and my TA got an original price that was $260 less than I expected to begin with so that’s $475 less than I had planned to book. I watch every day!
  23. Yup, here I am. Played McCavity the Mystery Cat in my younger days! And Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber verses 80’s crap ABBA?!?!?!
