  1. The other option is like what I am doing and get the refreshment package. I am planning to get the refreshment package for my self as my wife tries to avoid sugary drinks and might only have wine here and there (so bringing out 2 on) and I plan to pay for the "shot" for my mixed drink. We don't drink as much as we used (well at least as much as I used too pre-marriage lol) so I cant justify the deluxe package but I can justify enough for the refreshment package and got it on the last sale and saved 30% so it was a no-brainer for me. I will be posting how hard it is to get them to add my boose at al-le-carte. This might be an option for you too.
  2. On my gaming rig, I can barely tell the difference between them. The difference is so small I'm having a hard time deciding which one is better lol. I think the 800 fits the screen better (on a 17.3" screen at 1920x1080) now I should bring it up on a 4K screen but that might be overboard lol. I think for blogging purpose the smaller size 800px is good.
  3. I also found this the other day http://www.cruisin.me/cruise-ship-tracker seems pretty accurate too.
  4. I would like to find out too for my upcoming trip also @twangster what are the file sizes at one point the resolution to size wouldn't really make a difference. The 900 looks amazing but the 700 would work fine. What about hosting them somewhere else and using code to display them here? How long is a typical upload on voom?
  5. Being in a tourist destination we have many restaurants include the tip or "service fee". You have many different cultures and tipping is mostly a North American standard. I do believe if cruise lines feel these are required they should be a service fee. This way we know the ones in the background get their cut. If I get extra service I will gladly tip extra. You also learn if you tip along the way you are more likely to have your drink waiting for you on a busy day at the bar. I also never heard it mentioned about how they are paid. I was always under the impression that they are regulated by the minimum wage and laws of where the ship is registered. Since when on board you are considered under US law should the employees not be under the same? I also know on some ships the employees do have their own hot tube area and common area to relax and unwind (however not as nice as our areas.) I have worked with many Filipinos as I work in the construction industry, making even $5 an hour is like $100 back home. Houses are cheap to build and the food is even cheaper. One of my good friends can send home $1000 and can cover his families expenses, schooling fees and others. I was also told they are actually trained specifically for cruising industry. It is not often you are something else. Coming from first world countries we find it hard to justify but if you think about it if they were to make more they would have to work more. Think of what the new Ontario law has done to benefits. If it was not a great opportunity they would focus on other industries but it is one of their most desired jobs for a reason. I am not saying they don't deserve what they are getting for sure. I also don't fully agree with how cruise lines handle or word it. The way it is worded causes a lot of drama compared to a service fee. I think if it was a service fee people would actually be more willing to give extra. Going back to restaurants and the "included service fee". If I got mediocre service I may just give what is asked and if good service round it up or give a little. If I get bad service I am also now more likely to mention something to a manager, now if they are having a bad day this may impact their employment. However, if it was up to me I normally give a minimum of 10% for even horrible service, you still deserve something but I may not feel it was worth everything and now the next time they are better I might even give 20-25% easy. I always feel that if you thank for great service with higher % and maybe deduct % if you had a bad time is better control then something like comment cards as it leads to fewer employers jumping the gun and firing employees for 1 bad night, but they still get the message.
  6. I have a feeling this one won't work. If they take the other 4 for your next cruises and see 8 they won't give you 4 of them. I think the others would work though.
  7. I'm waiting to hear if they let me get the 25 for my wife lol. I sent a request because why not. She's new to royal so hoping they just give it to me but if not it only took me 5 minutes to do. You will never know unless you try ;)
  8. Good luck and I'm sure you will feel better much quicker then you think.
  9. They are also notorious for overhyping it. I hope the same isn't true here.
  10. Could also be a testing phase. Don't want to launch the ship with a bunch of buggy things that would lead to a bunch of bad reviews.
  11. I have also heard of some cases that during the transatlantic trip ships have started the reno. Ripping everything apart and prepping for the new stuff to help shorten the dry dock time.
  12. Well you could leave out the cruise part still might also be able to surprise him twice
  13. Are you going with them or just getting it for them. If going with them you can come up with a "small trip" to port location and then "going to look at the ship" and sneak luggage in the car and go. Or another one is to attach the ticket to a model of the ship (just a little one they would sell at a gift store) and then tell them that's the ship they will be on.
  14. What about a site like Travelocity too. I do agree with @Sabrinaklai Royal's IT is the worst I have ever seen. Also if it is sold out wait for the 90-day mark when payments need to be made. Many times people cancel at this point. If you still can't find it I would call for sure.
  15. Not sure why its all corkage fee anymore. More like a plain opening/serving fee lol.
  16. Didn't really read into the terms and conditions but this would be a different application so might still apply. Log into your CA account and this was at the top. You can add to your account while you are there and it might display it after.
  17. Did you add them to your reservation? I saw something saying you get OBC if you link it to your account or something. I have yet to try it but I thought that would be great to get some extra OBC just from "inviting" someone to RCL.
  18. Just looked at mine and the combo package is listed as 25% for my March cruise.
  19. Start a Partreon and I'm sure you might get enough people to help support your habits
  20. Guess they can't be Royal of all things. I mean there's a lot the British Royals can't do either
  21. You can order the virgin "mocktails". It is most of the stuff only a few items are not included.
  22. If you snorkel a little to the left (Dive shop named Eden Rock) has really nice views. We used to dive around there all the time (I haven't dived in like 8 years think I'll need a refresher lol)
  23. Hell is nice for about 10 minutes. There isn't much to do other than taking pictures. Some tours do stop there for a few minutes anyways so you might get lucky. When you are back in town Margaritaville is only good for its slide (sad to say its expensive and slow) There is a nice little place overlooking the water called Paradise (you will see the water trampoline if you look at the sea.) My old "watering hole" is called Guy Harvey's (upstairs and Bar Crudo downstairs) it has changed a lot since I went there but its still a nicer location and tends not to be as busy (tourists tend to stick with names they know.) If you are looking for a good Caribbean flavour then you have Rackams on the waterfront just up the road towards Seven Mile Beach (maybe a 10-minute walk.) From where I work most things in town are about a 10-15 minute walk so it should give you an idea of how small our town area is. We also have a newer area called Camana Bay which is pretty nice but is geared more towards the locals but offers very nice atmosphere but may be out of the way depending on your time restrictions.
