SpeedNoodles Posted December 14, 2023 Report Posted December 14, 2023 I implore people to reject excursions that allow you to hold wild animals, especially sloths. It is very stressful for the animals (even if you can't outwardly see it). It promotes poaching. I have decades of experience caring for wild animals and have a friend who spent time volunteering at a Sloth Rescue & Rehabilitation Center in Costa Rica (where they are as hands-off as possible). I know they are cute, and the tour guides insist it's fine. It really isn't. https://slothconservation.org/sloth-encounters-the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly/#:~:text=Do they allow hands-on,or petted under any circumstance.
