toddpop
I have not done the excursion through Royal, but I have been to Tulum, and the site is GREAT... not as overwhelming as Chitchen Itza, but still facinating and beautiful. PLUS having the water/beach there is a major PLUS. I can surely recommend the site. DDaley and WAAAYTOOO
teddy
My wife and I did this excursion through Royal, although it was pre-pandemic. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/11202-tulum-experience-question/&do=findComment&comment=106616
dr martini
The entire coast from cancun down to Tulum 25-30 years ago was very laid back and largely undeveloped, these cruise ship tours were a good way to see some pristine beaches and nature. That is not the case today and I chime as many of these cozumel/playa ferry type questions to recommend that you do not take a 10 hour excursion. relax and stay on cozumel, tons of great things to do there. if you want to see the beaches, the ruins in Tulum (or the much better, larger sets of ruins with fewer crowds elsewhere) book a 5-7 day trip flying in and out of cancun and staying in Puerto or Playa or Tulum, there are a ton of resorts now right on the beach, you can almost always find a good deal and it will be 1000% better experience than playing ferry's buses planes trains and automobiles. It's just not enjoyable and puts a lot of unnecessary strain and risk on your cruise vacation.
