I would recommend him going to the meet and greet for the teen club on night one, that will give him an idea of the kids and activities. There is plenty of things he can do by himself on the ship, just set your expectations with him, and let him go. My two boys 12 and 15, are required to check in with us every 2 hours, and to eat dinner with us. They always find lots of other kids their age to have fun with.
