Well, last day of this cruise 😢.  It has been a wonderful 10 days.  I really enjoyed Vision.  She has been obviously been taken care of by those who love her.

The internet has been surprisingly reliable.  Much MUCH better than on EX in early April.

The MDR food has been average.  Nothing particularly good or bad.  Service has been very good.

Specialty restaurants have been average, too.  We had a 5 night package.

The WJ is….well, the WJ.  Always my LAST choice of somewhere to eat.

Entertainment was pretty dismal with the exception of the Franky Valley/4 Seasons tribute band (Oh!  What A Night !), which was imported entertainment (they came on in Haiti, performed one night and disembarked in San Juan).  That tribute band was great.

The casino was surprisingly quiet the entire trip.  I expected it to be overrun, since this cruise was a comp for us and I expected many other comp-ers to be aboard.  Not the case, apparently.  While I had miserable luck, we had a lot of fun.  We both attained Prime status and both earned comp cruises which we booked onboard at NC to give us B2B cruises on Freedom.  One point of weirdo intel - the Vision casino is apparently the only one in the fleet that allows you to place a $5 “Trips or Better” bet even though the min bet for the ante and blind is $10.  We took full advantage of that !  😜

As I reported elsewhere, we got confirmation that JS are exempt from the new “once-a-day” room service.  Our Steward (Sharon) was as good as we have ever had….very attentive.  We got a paper Compass every day and refilled ice bucket though we never asked for either. While the furniture is vintage (sorry to steal your term, Alicia) Vision class, everything is clean and fresh.  The bed was comfortable and it seemed fairly new. We loved our little JS.

A word regarding noise.  This is the first time on a Vision class ship where I really noticed how loud it is for cabins near the Centrum elevators.  We are usually very anxious to get rooms near the elevators and I was somewhat disappointed that our room was down the hall maybe 10 rooms.  BOY was I glad that we were NOT near the elevators !  The evening noise (music, primarily) was horrific and I felt bad for those who were near the elevators.  After 10PM they closed the hallway doors to try and mitigate the Centrum noise but my guess is it didn’t help much. Be wary !

This is the last closed-loop sailing for Vision out of PE.  The cruise, leaving tomorrow, is the repositioning cruise to Baltimore.  We looked into staying onboard, but the sailing is sold out except for a couple of interiors….no thanks…which we fully expected.

If you have been reluctant to sail on Vision b/c she is an older ship - don’t resist any longer !  She’s a classic and deserves your time.  Take care of her, Baltimore !

Glad you had a nice time and trip on Vision, and am on board for the repositioning now. She has truly been well taken care of, and though some furnishings show signs of age overall much of the ship’s main features don’t show many signs of wear. (A few I’ve met so far who have sailed Grandeur a few times lately said that one is showing much more age for being fairly close in age.)

Internet has been quite reliable so far, only very brief interruptions I’ve noticed are in the far corners of the ship probably near end of range for the router.

And at least for me it’s much too soon to form opinions on the MDR good yet, especially since this is my first with the new menus. But I’m going to see how things pan out for MDR in general. (I’m with you on WJ being last on my list for choice - pretty much only do lunch there in port of I don’t eat off ship.)

While sold out, it feels like there are a good amount of people missing - I heard a LOT had flight issues with the storms, etc. our 8 top table for dinner only had 3, and the table next to us only had 2, so we combined (and the waiters had to shuffle to realize what happened!)
